but what part of those shoes justifies the price?

-Construction quality (some people have pairs that have lasted them 8+ years)
- Silhouette. Kinda hard to explain why this is important, but it is to people that would know enough to want to buy them.
-Designer label, obviously a sizable markup.

There are more reasons, but in the end, some people find them to worth the price, some don't.

Just like keyboards, clacks, etc.

Damn, really really nice. I am always "planning" when to wear such beautiful shoes for the first time. Do you also "hesitate" as to when to wear them for the first time? Always such a pity when it starts raining later on the day and you realize you expose your beauties to teh forces of nature for the first time :p

I still have new oxfords from Cordwainer (Spanish) made out of one piece of leather. But I am really careful when I wear them :p

Barefoot shoes can feel great, especially once you get used to walking more on the front of your foot instead of landing on your heels.
Also, not really recommended when carrying a heavy backpack.

My toes are weird, so I never properly fitted the Vibrams.
But Merrell's barefoot collection feels pretty good.

I can attest to that, recently bought some of these:



Very light and super comfy.

Well shoes are made for walking :) the beauty of leather is as it's ages and mature, it gets more classy and beautiful
I have other bespoke shoes which I love, will take pictures when I'm free
