Just some quality updates...

Hopefully, the stems on these new molds would fix the keys getting stuck on the switches... i hope  :-[

The purple is a topre from Metallikrap where the buyer didnt want it anymore so its stuck with me. lol. And its from the old mold and the red and orange one is from the new mold with better lines and stem.

And since you guys love the orange, just some more potato shots.

There should be since these are new colors i bought to test and seems that they came out better than i expected. Florescent colors of orange and pink. So now that i know they mix well with resin, ill probably buy more of different colors

You just pour the first color in the mold then let it cure then pour the second color then seal the mold and let it cure until it sets. same concept for multishots. Make sure your design can handle non-single shot which usually is possible for thick caps cause of the clearance from the top of the cap to the top of the stem.

Good luck with your venture  :thumb:

I imagine that would take a lot of practice with the right tools and materials though :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks for sharing. Are you using only a 2 part mold? By design do you mean where the sprues are to be located?

2 part mold but no sprues. i tried that but didnt work for me hence i do all without sprues. the only problem is bubbles in the bottom walls but that can be fixed by degassing and pressure.

hehe not trying to simplify the whole process but only the concept of doubleshots :-p

The whole process from master creation to mold making and casting is a different matter all together and cannot be described in one sentence. lol

Guys, can you PM me if you are experiencing any of my caps getting stuck in the board when depressed? I would need to discuss something about the issue so please do contact me as soon as you can :)

I know it's Krytone's thread but I took some pictures of his work that I bought in the metallikrap sale (and the one before it).

Loving your new work with the diagonal skulls. It's almost like a blank with just the outline making it really interesting!

Will you be able to have just the skull part colored on the diagonal skull?

This album is great...love seeing the detail and texture in the closer shots.

Those look great! I'm curious though, how are you double shotting them? Do you let them cure then pour your second batch in, or pour it slowly in right after the first?

Pour first color and let it cure then pour second color. It would have a different mix effect if you pour the second color after just pouring the first one.
