If you think the potholes in Indiana are bad, move to the Northeast...  :))

I drive an 06 Lexus IS 250 and even though it's not a fast car by any stretch, it's a fun car to take corners in and accelerating on ramps. Even though I'd love a proper high-end car like an Audi S or Mercedes AMG, I am far happier in my Lexus since I'm not spending hours in the shop every weekend. Matter of fact, once I get a new car in a few years, it will almost definitely be another Lexus. Probably the LS 500 F Sport. Sure it's not an exotic, but it is more than adequate for daily driving and has the reliability of a Toyota.

Potholes are ridiculous in Indianapolis and this is from someone coming from Michigan originally. My old police car and Silverado were tough enough to survive just about anything. I would be happy with a base C6 vette with low miles < $20k but no sense of ever owning a nice vehicle around the rust belt. Whoa those LS 500 F's are expensive

Toyota Camry = Best Car

I have been driving 4-door, 4-cylinder Camrys for nearly 3 decades. They are boring but comfortable, dependable, and economical.

My current one has 210K miles and, except for a recent nagging oil leak, is still going strong.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

The Japanese have rice tp4!

Whoa those LS 500 F's are expensive

I could afford to finance one now with my current job, but like I said my current Lexus is doing the job just fine. I also wouldn't ever want to drive the new car since I'd be so afraid of the M******* drivers in Boston.

The 96 Camry I drove when I first moved to Boston had almost 200K miles and was still running despite many obvious years of abuse from previous owners.

A used Camry seems to be a sensible approach. I looked into those some time ago and almost bought one but it was a good deal so it sold rather quickly. Hyundai Elantra's are also a good value for a new car.

Hond accord and toyo cam.

That's the Filco tkl,  it just works, not fussy, reliable, cheap to repair..

I recommend the v6 because they're somewhat heavy cars, and the regular 4 cylinder kind of pewps out on a hill climb or if you've got a Phat-friend.

I admittedly don't know much about Hyundai Elantra reliability but as a general rule of thumb their cars aren't as reliable as the other Japanese brands. This is a pretty good ranking in terms of reliability for passenger vehicles.

Beware JD Power.
While respected by manufacturers and has good data (extremely good data), they cater to manufacturers not buyers. Their charts are good, but ignore the awards you see in commercials, particularly things like cargo space or initial quality.

In regards to the specific chart posted above, it doesn't differentiate minor vs major problems. For example, there is a big difference between an engine seizing and a fog lamp burning out. I will gladly take 5 or 6 minor annoyances I can fix in 5 minutes over a single major problem.

Also,
Hyundai is Korean not Japanese, and dependability is HEAVILY reliant on the model. Some are extremely reliable (and have been for years!), others are complete garbage and should be avoided if at all possible.
