3700 Based Mod Photo Log
« on: Sat, 12 October 2013, 20:36:44 »
Decided to do my mod on my 3700 a little early. This is my G80-3700 HQAUS and it's going to be side-by-side with my first GH60. both will be of nearly the same theme and caps. Both will have orange LEDs and Beige Caps to match, however the GH60 will be sporting PBT RGBs.

The 3700 was modded from regular stock modern blacks to 67 Korean Spring Modern Blacks. they were lubed with a 2:1 solution of oil/grease, used from the package from mkawa's store found here, Stickers and springs from Sherry & Originative. Caps are stock and the stems, top & bottom half are stock from the 3700.

I had a lot of fun with this today, first official 'mod' (beyond swapping out the poker switches between clears and whites a few times). I think it was a good experience and it gets me even more pumped for these GH60s. Had a brief problem with the Orange LED's polarity..but it's working fine now.

So i do love taking photos and while they are not the best, i'd like to post them, in a photo build log sort of fashion

Fairly simple mod, a lot of fun
I will be doing a longer, better photo build log of all 3 GH60s.
While there might be not a lot of physical change to observe, the feeling is amazing and the orange LED is going to match the first GH60 great. The Stock caps might be switched out for dolch at some point for possible future pictures.
Lubed 67g Blacks feel heavenly, i cannot wait to type on a full board of them with my first GH60

I think it looks awesome...that logo

enjoy please ~

A neat unit, and nice mod :)

Actually it just occurred to me that for someone who wants to experiment with modding a keyboard, but cannot afford or does not want to risk maiming a full keyboard, a keypad would make an ideal basis.  Plus if the mod works you would have a neat keypad that could be sold for profit!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks guys

My Pure was my practice board a few months back. it was great because i learned on switches and LEDs at the same time. I did buy this 3700 for $50 from an old friend, so this wasn't quite my practice board.

Orange and Beige Cherry go great together! (IMO)
