Any suggestions on making or programming a chording keyboard?
« on: Thu, 16 April 2015, 01:28:01 »
I'm thinking of building a keyboard from a couple of numpads. The actual numpad layout is not fixed for now, because I have 17key, 24 key, 20 key pads. I collected them in anticipation of this project.

The goal is to have a keyboard where my fingers don't move too much. Even on my current keyboard and layout, my hand does have to move when actuating function keys, macro keys and numpad.

Strictly speaking I am not seeking to build a pure chording keyboard. I would like to get away with typing the alphas or commonly used letters directly, and use chording combos only when necessary.

Does anyone have good firmware/software to suggest? Or any guidance on this topic? It will be appreciated!
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.
