Are people only lining up for this cause it's an AI03 board??

Probably a ton of people who missed Lunar or didn't want an integrated plate.

I sold my Lunar for that same reason, but I'm just seeing a lot of "I've never tried alps, but I'm in". Seems like it's only for the AI03 clout though

Sweet mother yes. Any chance for an hhkb layout option? That would be fantastic. +1

Will the solenoid have a physical switch to turn it off or some key combinationsKeycode within QMK; can be bound to any key position on any layer similar to backlight/underglow toggle keycodes.
XD75 pcb/plate support could be neat, but i guess i'm a minority under minorities!Mount points would conflict with switch positions.
Nice finish on that frame. The prototype was done no-blast no-ano to speed things up, back when it was still plausible to rush a GB early 2020.
Excited~ I don’t think 100 units will be enoughThe MX crowd has grown quite a bit but Alps has always been a small circle; hopefully quantity cap won't be an issue.

Sweet mother yes. Any chance for an hhkb layout option?Would need to be entirely different case and PCB design.

Imagine buying this, with 0 alp switchesThat's me. I was very close to buy the Lunar I, but then I had zero knowledge about Alps switches, so I skipped. Now I will try to get one and start to explore the Alps space. This is so beautiful. Love the side look so much.

I know we are memeing, but I think we all know a **** ton of people do this lol
100 units ready to lose the raffleI'm hoping for fcfs

I'm super interested, and would love to hear a sound test. Am also dreaming of a split right shift, and the biggest (never to come true) dream is 65%. I needs muh arrow keys! Still might buy though. Looks great!
I'm guessing one of the major barriers to split right shift isn't just a design decision, it's availability of compatible keycaps.
I’ve held on to 4 AEKIIs just waiting for the return of Lunar. Also have some brown alps waiting. More than ready.

Really bummed i being forced to use alps, but i want that solenoid BAD.I guess I can just get some alp-mx adapters or something, and i guess i'll get the chance to use some vintage switches.. Hopefully someone will make an mx pcb.
Why not just make the pcb take both?
Can we use other PCB/plate combo with this case since it has the standard 60% mounting points? Planning to use an H60 along with a new set of Dell AT101 caps in this beautiful caseIt doesn't use the standard 60% mounting points. It's different positions and mounts to the plate instead of the PCB, so it will not be compatible with other projects/cases I'm afraid
Not that this really matters (im wanting to get this either way)... I am curious as to what type of USB will be used on this PCB? Assuming it will be USB Mini, but hoping for USBC of course
No kidding, what a weird complaint, you can't walk a yard without tripping over the dozens and dozens of MX PCB boards.Yes... and none of those are compatible with a solenoid (out of the box at least).. i think it's weird that you find it weird, seems pretty simple and obvious to me, but maybe i'm missing something.
So what's the best way to follow and get notified when you offer this?
I finally had my a-stock LunarAEK built by Taeha and i need this one so I don't have to haul it between work and home.

It looks great. But it's too hard to get ALPS switches in good condition.Apple AEKs aren't terribly hard to find

Are there any viable switch clones out there? The matias quiet-click perhaps?

I mean, if you've never used a real dampened Alps switch before, Matias quiet click will feel okay. But when you put them side by side... there's not really much good to say about the Matias. I've found a few people selling NoS simplified white Alps switches, which are a step up from Matias clicks for sure. NoS yellow Alps are still floating around here and there as well, and offer a great linear experience.

I disagree. This board gives a home to Alps and AEK keycaps. The shape of the keycaps were very different than anything we have today. Just considering keycaps, not only are the stems a mismatch, but the slope and contour doesn't fit any board today. I love my LunarAEK - the sound and feel of my old aek in a 65% form factor. It looks great. But it's too hard to get ALPS switches in good condition.
Agreed, it's best to stop looking at this and look at MX
Alps do deserve a good home... AEK however, are most at home in the fire place.. :pI disagree. This board gives a home to Alps and AEK keycaps. He's making 50 or so a-stock keebs. It's what customs are all about. I luckily got my lunar AEK from someone who wanted out of the group buy due to a job change. I'm hoping to not miss out on this one.

It's probably way too late for this, but I just saw this thread right now. Why not make the bottom row also compatible with AT-101 or are the other keys off? This way I had something to put my SGI Granit caps onto :DIt's specifically designed (with the curvature) for AEK keycaps :D
This looks Amazing. Definitely would cop this.
I just hope this is not another Raffle, FCFS limited board release thingy.
id like this with cherry compatibility too as all the cherry pcb's ive seen dont have native solenoid support

I'm in. 100 units will sell in a second. Please make more?

Are you making any improvements to the board now that it's been a few years and tray mount isn't end game any more? I recall end game being used to describe the board back then
Yeah I'm down for 100 units. Less likely to have delays or miscoms with the manufacturer, and other entities involved, and other unknowns happen down the line. Hopefully that will translate to quicker turnaround times too.I'm in. 100 units will sell in a second. Please make more?
This time around it'll be kept 100 per vendor for the sake of not exceeding the vendors' capacities - rather run multiple rounds or a successor in quick succession than have one huge group buy that goes on forever.
(And yes, there are plans for a third gen Lunar and a TKL in the works, but far too early to tell when they'll run (if at all) just yet.)
Just finished finalizing the case design based on prototype testing; awaiting feedback before finalizing GB details.

Re-read the first post to see the goals of this board.
Also, I've been happily running a tray mount board as a daily driver for over a year despite other boards such as Andromeda and Vega existing; the important details are of implementation specifics and applicability to the project rather than choosing some "end game" mount method by name alone.
I've been sitting on 3 AEKIIs for years waiting for a Lunar. Going to stack them on my desk and flip it if I don't get one.

Cherry switch compatible?

I got beige, but I'm second guessing and want to switch to grey. What color did you get?
Went with gray. :thumb:
Switchplate has only sold 19 so far. Surprised.
Wow. Surprising. How do you know how many they sold?

if you try to put 100 in your cart it puts 81 (max. available). Works with a lot of stores to check available quantitiy for listed articles.

Will there be Lunar 65% again?Seams unlikely, ai03 have said he doesn't want to make the same board twice.

I got the Lunar II but I would really love a Lunar FRL TKL
Usually FRL would be an instant no from me, but seeing as keycap availability would mess that plan up, doing it as anything but FRL would be a total richard relocation.I got the Lunar II but I would really love a Lunar FRL TKL
ooooh, FRL would be ideal! :)

Did I miss the delivery or it's "got" as in "paid, waiting for fulfillment"?
BTW, do we have any timeline?
