[IC] Rosaline through-hole PCB kit
« on: Wed, 29 September 2021, 10:37:24 »

Hello Geekhack,

Last March I ran a small GB for the Lumberjack PCB, a build it yourself through-hole PCB for 60% cases.

To continue the through-hole in a case theme I'd like to introduce you to my next PCB project, the Rosaline, a wide 40% / numrowless 60% with that sweet sweet through-hole aesthetic we've come to know and love.

Rosaline PCB Kit

https://github.com/peej/rosaline-keyboard

* 7u or split space staggered layout PCB
* Unsoldered with all through-hole components (like the Plaid)
* Fits into tray mount 60% cases (GH60 mounting PCB points)
* Kit will contain all components, acrylic component cover and associated hardware (just add switches, caps & case)
* Any colour as long as it's black
* FR4 plate
* ATMEGA328P using USBaspLoader, pre-flashed
* Mini-USB or USB-C

And there is of course also a ortholinear variant if that is your bag:

Love it! looks great, I'm a big fan of your designs, and honestly the picture of your notebook with the components that you have here and with the lumberjack, gives such a nice aesthetic touch to your projects.

As someone with an stockpile of unused 60% cases and the desire to try a smaller form factor, I'm all over this. My only concern is having to solder my own USB connector.

Easy buy. I love the idea of using tray mount 60% for various layouts. Looks like a fun build -- count me in.

this is awesome, I've been meaning to try <60% boards for a while but never commited because I didn't want to invest too much, this is just what I need. especially with the staggered layout ! you even have a WKL bottom row, so I can use older caps. I just wish the caps lock could be stepped :)

Another awesome project from peej! Looks great

Stepped caps is an easy addition, right?

Stepped caps support can definitely be added, it's not something I even thought about so thanks for raising it.

Looks great but I'm still waiting on another round for the Lumberjack  :(

Plan if there is enough interest in this will probably be to run both this and a Lumberjack R2 together since the components are mostly the same.

Any thoughts about when this might be likely to run, peej? :)

If you could add a JST connector (or a footprint so it could be added) for daughter board support, I'd be in

There wasn't much interest, so it's unlikely I'm going to do more with this, although I could sneak it in with the next Lumberjack group buy for those few who are interested.

The compatibility of this thing is so nice. I would like to see OLED support if possible!!! If it has OLED, probably gonna be an insta-buy for me

I'm definitely interested - what's the best way to get updates if it does end up running? Here? Discord?
