Are we forced to use plate mounted switches on your case?

I'm actually confused with that acrylic plate to be honest. I thought we could just fit in there a standard Poker.

Can u extend the close date till the same day GH60 closes? Was going to talk to people at work and see if they are interested in purchasing one of these. This is looking like the most affordable case for GH60 so far. Not everyone can afford a 200$ aluminum case lol

also, is there an option for ansi 1.5? or would it just be better to use a metal plate from the gh60 GB?

Thanks!

it's actually the PCB that matters. as long as the PCB supports PCB-mounted switches, u can use PCB-mounted switches.

I already know that but I'm refering to the fact that it seems that there will be an acrylic plate included in the case and I don't know if it's mandatory to use it or not.

It seems you have to use the plate, as that (the 3mm "spacer" plate) is how the PCB mounts to the case.

Yes, the 3mm plate is actually the middle layer when looking at the side of the case, hence as you state, really connects the switches, pcb (and metal plate, if used) to the case.

But if we use a metal plate it will sit on top of the acrylic?

If I am following this properly...

1. You can get the acrylic plate with openable or non openable switches (the notches)
2. Openable can only use cherry pcb mount stabilizers, while non openable can use plate mounted costar
3. You can use PCB or plate mounted seitches.

Yes, that's correct.

No, you can only use Cherry PCB mount stabilizers. You cannot use Costar with these at all, due to the 3mm spacer plate.

Correct.

Yes, it will be compatible using the GH60-Poker layout.

He's not really organizing a buy from a supplier, using the buying power of many buyers to get a volume discount. So, really, it's just a sale.

?!

did alixinhzai just changed that the case can only use cherry pcb mount stabs even if we have a metal plate?
i am pretty sure that in the beginning the acrylic plate only supports pcb mount cherrys and that it doesnt matter if we use metal plates.

please clarify ~.~

The OP states that you can only use Cherry PCB mount stabilizers.

If you use your own metal plate, you would be able to use Costar stabilizers, if there were no 3mm acrylic spacer plate between the metal plate and the PCB. That spacer plate is what attaches the PCB to the case, as there are no standoffs or anything. That acrylic plate would prevent you from using Costar stabs, because the Costar stabs (and Cherry plate mount stabs) need clearance under the metal plate in order to mount.

so would it be possible to create that clearance using a file/dremel so cherry plate mount stabs would fit?
or just make the cutouts for the stabs on the crylic plates bigger for plate mounted stabs.

You should see if a slightly darker color of green is available, I think a case with green top/bottom panels, and milk-white center would look fantastic with the CCoG keyset.

Up to OP.  I asked for a version with a 2.5x block in each lower corner, letting me use a Poker board (or ANSI GH60) with a 1.25 - 6.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 bottom row.  Swap CAPS/Cntrl-L and map Win-R to CAPS and there is Alt-Space-Fn-Caps on the bottom row and Ctrl-L under Tab.

I do have a question. Is there a tutorial anywhere about transplanting a Vortex Pure into a case like this? I cannot seem to find one.
Would that be difficult?

Would that be difficult?

1. Remove keycaps.
2. Remove PCB from case by unscrewing 6 screws.
3. Desolder all LEDs and remove.
4. Desolder all switches and remove from PCB.
5. Mount switches in acrylic plate.
6. Install mounted switches onto spacer plate.
7. Mount this assembly onto PCB, and solder all switches.
8. Replace all LEDs, and solder.
9. Stack layers together, insert screws and bolt together.

Done!

I went ahead and ordered two of the cases.  I'm planning to use the nifty stainless steel plates I got from The_Beast's sale, with the PCBs from the GH60 GB, but I didn't see any option to de-select the "plate" from my order.  I don't mind if I get the acrylic plates anyway, but it seems a bit wasteful if I'm not going to use them...

Or am I missing something?  I read the description of how the five layers are supposed to go together, but I may have overlooked the steel plate option.
