jd, does our hotel have an oven?  :))  I wanna bake a cheesecake!

actively soliciting presentations now

I would enjoy presenting, but I don't have much to present on that's in any way related to keyboards.  All I know about is general polymer stuff and paper and polymer processing in industry.

Keyboard cases, keycaps, and many internal keyswitch parts are made of plastic, so that sounds pretty relevant to me!

I was going to give a presentation on general polymer and metal processing but it might work better if we split it into two topics. If you're still interested in presenting, I've got some keycaps I can bring in that show things like how doubleshots are made.

I eat ice cream that doesn't have chocolate in it. Ice cream =/= chocolate.

Man...you guys may be flying out of really small markets or the prices have gone up way faster than I expected. I paid $400ish for my flight to SFO.

Dorkvader, I think you could bring up to 4 keyboards if you don't need a lot of clothing.

LESS CLOTHES MORE BOARDS!!

I will be coming +1ish on both days. If anyone arrives early on Friday and wants to go to the Computer History Museum let's figure out a time and I can lead a tour. Ideally we'd start by 1pm at the latest so we can see the Babbage engine demo.

I'll bring as much of my collection as I can carry. Maybe damieng is coming and can give me a lift. I have linear green Alps, a Minitouch, an Atreus, and some Duck boards as the collection highlights.

Edit?

I am a GitHubber, aside from bringing some Octocat stickers I won't really be there in "official" capacity but if someone wants a GitHub-related side event please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll bring some t-shirts to give to people with my favorite keyboards.

In for group tour and Github goodies. :thumb:

Please bring baked goods omg. If y'all don't know, GH meetups are always about food first and keyboards second...or maybe that's if I'm involved :P

Maybe I'll bring a few dozen cookies or cupcakes with me then... (Promise there will be some without chocolate!)

I don't mind meeting hashbaz at any time on Friday to visit Pixar. I'm flying into SJC, arriving at 9:15am. :D  And I'm probably going to rent a car, just to make things easier.

I'm giving a 15-20 minute talk tops. I don't think it's going to take 5 hours. And if it does, it really shouldn't. IMO, the talks should take at most 2 hours. This is something we're doing for fun. I don't think spending 5 hours listening to lectures is fun.

If ming gives a presentation, it's likely to take 5 hours. Just remember how long the pizza conversation with Hoff lasted. And that was only pizza! :))

I'll be going! And hopefully dragging my boyfriend with me, along with maybe 1-3 other friends!

I don't have anything particularly interesting to bring, unless anyone wants to see a rainbow of Binge lions. I'd offer to bring baked goodies, but I'm not sure if there would be any food safety issues. And, yanno, keyboards don't always mix well with cookies, cake, and pie. :P

I would absolutely be happy with baked goods. I will see if I can make some as well. People can snack on them during the talks.

Some org details:

If anyone wants to SHIP their keyboards/other things in advance, go to 724support.com and you can ship things to the address shown there.  Advance drop-offs are okay as well.  Contact me first before showing up, please.

We'll have soft drinks, water, and a full espresso bar available.  (And a big fridge and a microwave.)  Costco is very, very close.  We are a wheelchair-friendly facility.

Bringing snacks is fine, but remember: surfaces covered in food cannot also hold keyboards!  (Related: surfaces covered in keyboards cannot be used for playing pool.)

I'll have my tools and supplies available,  Note that I am old-school, so there are no stinkin' dials on my soldering iron!

Send me a PM if you have any special needs or requests.

Happy 4th, and I'll see you all in a week!

I like keyboards and case modding.  Everything about a computer should be silent -- except the KEYBOARD!

i'm going to bring several hundred pounds of ghirardelli chocolate just to spite you CBA

edit: no, i'm going to bring it because it's GOOD and because they have gigantic bags at the factory store

I'll eat some. I love chocolate!

I'm conspiring with HaaTa on what bakes Good(s) I will be making before keycon. There are several family recipes that have been handed down through the generations. The Buttermilk Pie is a particular favourite of mine.

I will be staying in Santa Clara by school and plan on taking the CalTrain into Mountain View. What is the best way to get to 727 from the station?

It is about 3mi so I would prefer not to walk and that is what google suggests even with buses and stuff selected. Is there some more public transportation that I should know about? I suppose I could always take a cab (or maybe someone could pick me up on their way if they drive. I don't know).

I honestly don't understand how bringing and eating chocolate would spite me but ok. Do you.

It's to make you eat it, not for him to eat.  Clearly you need some.

I'd be game for that, too.

The best thing for us to do is have people go to the Mountain View CalTrain/Light Rail station.  Express trains from north and south go there, as does light rail.

Then we can have someone drive the 724support.com company van over there to pick up 1-8 people per trip.
