I have my Phantom, but dat price... I have gotten everything I need but the plate for under what the single case costs, actually about $50 less. :( Anyone want to help me out? I'll do work for you, soldering, etc. I can also offer some things to trade...

That price is $200 less than the only other aluminum Filco case (MKC) that we have seen here.

I don't really need a filco, have plenty of cherry boards, ducky's/QFR. As for topre, I got a 91ubk, TKL style. I decided against JIS HHKB, going with the normal layout....once I decide I'm ready to spend $300 on it :)
But trust me, that JIS HHKB was so tempting. Oh, and I just remembered when you posted that...I bought a very expensive poker from iMav :)

What is up with the majority of those pictures being like 85% out of focus? Take the picture from further away so the entire keyboard/case is in focus, then crop it down.

We're working on getting more.  Vortex failed to send the conical feet with the frames and 8 bags of hardware, so we're waiting on all of that to come in for the existing frames.

So once you receive the missing stuff, you will send them separately to the already ordered cases?

Looks like I did the right thing with an impulse buy - for once.

I am in the 500 draw?  I know I haven't purchased a board, but I've spent pretty much the same money.  (No worries if not.)

Yep, we're including these in the draw.

As for Sandblasted or Anodized...

Vortex claims they cases are BOTH Sandblasted and Anodized.

Also....

Ripster just posted on our Facebook page regarding these frames expressing some concerns over the design / construction ("The quality on these suck." - Ripster).  The only real substance I can devolve from his Reddit link (http://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/14g76y/148_vortex_aluminum_shell_for_filco_tenkeyless/) was that Vortex should have used stand offs.  It also sounds as though the frames that come with standoffs usually run around $300 from other suppliers.  I'm trying to figure out if these cases are, indeed, crap (as Rip claims) or if this is simply another case of 'get what you pay for'.  $150 for stand offs sounds steep to me.  The only other criticisms I could find were related to how to more efficiently mill the aluminum (which relates to milling time / costs - not product quality).

If you purchased a case and could offer some input, it would be much appreciated!

All that is required for standoffs is to drill blind holes in the correct locations (at the correct angle) and tap them, then provide standoffs of the proper height(s).

Not $150 worth of time or materials.

My thoughts exactly.  Obviously if it's this simple, Vortex should have done it, but I'm wondering if there's something else with these frames earning the 'suck' rating from Ripster.

i.e. - From a consumer standpoint, is it worth spending another $150 for standoffs / stand off holes?  Or is there something else that's adding to the $300 price tag on the other frames?

I wouldn't be interested in purchasing this if it was $300. Recently there was a groupbuy by feng for MKC aluminum cases... $350 each. I think there was a total of maybe  5 cases sold, even with andozation in any color and a great build quality. If I were to guess, there aren't too many people intrested in a case in that price range. Personally I think $150 is a great deal for these. Anything over $250 is too much for me.

I've just got mine, but I'm having trouble fitting it.  Mr Filco might have put on some weight, but it seems that there isn't much room for the cable under the pcb... Am I doing something wrong?

Edit - seems that the choke on the cable is the culprit.  Is it just a case of snipping the heatshrink off and removing the choke?

Is the hole in the back of the frame not sufficiently large to accommodate your cable?  The cable in the pic does look a little off but I've only tested it with the Majestouch 2 TKL.

Also, more of these frames are back in stock!  Please note the conical feet are not available at this time but should be shipped in sometime early 2013.

It looks like all colors of the aluminum cases are available on the website now. I'm assuming the feet are included?

I read it completely. It shows that feet are included.  :p

are these new Filco/ONI cases compatible with the phantom does anyone know?

few weeks ago they posted them on their facebook

i randomly responded on facebook with
Glod: wonder if they will fit phantom

i didnt actually think anyone would say anything

they actually responded with
Vortex Keyboard: Glod fit with phantoom
(actual way they spelled it)

i dunno if they didn't understand what i meant, like translation/understanding issue, or how the hell to interpret.

Just by looking at it, no. There's no where to fit the controller.
I love Elzy

I'm honestly not sure, and we don't have one to attempt to fit in.  I've asked Vortex for an exact list, but so far I'm only hearing Filco / ONI

I'm sure slight modifications could make others fit, but I still don't have anything concrete.

Glad I checked back in after all this time.  Just ordered a black one; nice to have a reasonably priced option for a good looking metal filco case.

Just installed my Filco into a black case.

Case came in flawlessly with all hardware, the thing assembled easily and looks like a million bucks!  I was actually prepared to be disappointed with the amount of money I spent on this thing, but I am genuinely happy with my purchase.

Glad to hear it!  Also, we did confirm a Cooler Master Rapid will fit in the case for anyone interested.
