Keyboard of the Month - February - Vote
« on: Wed, 07 March 2018, 08:11:24 »
Welcome everyone to February's Keyboard of the month vote!

We are actually on time this month (shock horror!) and we have three great boards for you to pick from.

First up is emenelopee's EVE-Project

Original post and album of more photos is here

Second we have Jon_Flynn's Hyper7

Originally posted here with link to more details on reddit

Finally we have Kitchener's hand wired preonic

Extensive build log can be found here

As per usual, you have seven days to pick your favourites, good luck!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Not so easy for me.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Three very different boards with plenty of DIY - that makes this a tough choice!

Other thought - is this the first time the small board with blanks is not the hardest one to find macro 7 on?!
120/100g linear Zealio R1
GMK Hyperfuse
'Split everything' perfection
MX Clear
SA Hack'd by Geeks

Hmm, not an easy one for me: I need a full size at work and use the mouse on the left for efficiency (I'm right handed) so the EVE is appealing; sometimes I wish I had more keys and the Hyper7 is appealing; and I love the elegance of the Preonic also.

Um, same question. Also Macros 1-6, and 8+. Have I been keyboarding wrong?

Congrats Jon_Flynn! I kinda feel bad anybody had to go up against the Hyper 7, that thing is a monster in more ways than one! Throw in the fact you somehow managed to get a Space Cadet set to cover the beast & it was game over. Although I do gotta say emenelopee's EVE-Project & Kitchener's hand wired preonic are no slouches by any means, both could've easily won KBotM most other times IMHO. Great work from all three of you! :thumb:

For what its worth - I think your board is better in terms of execution and thats where my vote went. Although it could do with a few more buttons... now if you wanna trade...
