Missed out on the Oblivion V2 (found out on the day it sold out) which is the set I wanted the most, I will definately by the 1.5 run (regular base kit) of this when that happens.

I'm definitely very interested!

I know you mentioned that vim keys will only be available in R2, but if it helps push that to this round, I am very interested in getting a vim kit with this.

Uhm, what's a Kanji/Latin kit? Do you mean a kit with kana sublegends? That doesn't really fit this set's theme in any way.

Am I the only one who likes Oblivion better? But seeing I have missed both runs I might end up getting this instead.

I don't know about better, they're both nice in their own way and match different themes. I already had Oblivion, so I'm not going to order this, but if you're into coding and want a set to match your preferred IDE theme, I can see the attraction.

+1 for a UK ISO in the base kit, just need R1 "2 £3 and R3 @' ~# you are there
A full international kit is overkill for most ISO users

It is true that a full international kit is overkill for most ISO users. It is also true that UK ISO in base is overkill for most ISO users.

Agree, but what's important is the orders, would the UK keys stop you from ordering the base? I doubt it. But I wouldn't consider a set without them.

On the cost side it's up to the designer to negotiate a right price for themselves so not my place to comment

As somebody in UK, I found my life immeasurably improved when I just switched to ANSI. Really the only thing you have to get used to is that @ and " have changed (which isn't hard, because it matches what's on the keys) and then a little AutoHotKey script fixes the pound up just fine. I hist shift+4 once, I get £, I hit it twice, I get $ - I wouldn't go back to ISO now.

I mean, they're exactly the same mods as GMK Oblivion Git Base and people like them fine (based on them outselling the standard, which is why they're now the default for this set, as Oblotzky explains)

Noooo don't give up on the heritage...

Yeah I can see that work for me, but I quite like the aesthetic of the big ass enter, breaks it up a bit and great for novelty creatives

Also switching back and forth between this and a laptop keyboard (can't avoid still) is a hassle

Nothing wrong with a bit of cheese, hehe - if you're nerdy enough.

I mean, the same case could be made for any extra keys that someone could ask for. For example, I rarely buy sets that don't include certain keys I need for the layouts I most commonly use, so I understand where you're coming from. But that doesn't mean that including those keys is always a good idea. This kind of argument is flawed: Sure, UK keys wouldn't prevent anyone from buying the set in and of themselves, but those keys don't come for free, and so the additional cost might.

The question is whether adding those 4–6 keys would be worth the price increase to everyone's base kits. This is the bottom line, and it's reflected in the number of orders, as you said. The answer to this is likely no, as ISO-UK users only make up about 2–3% of all users (source).

There's not much a designer can do to reduce the price of a larger kit, other than go with a higher MOQ (which has its own risks) or forgo their profit margins. It's in (almost) everyone's best interest that the kits be well optimized.
