HELP! Blank keycap set -- scrambled in shipping.

(1/1)

Queue:
I ordered a set of the GMK MTNU Graphite blank keycaps, and they came completely scrambled/loose in the tray. First time getting a GMK set, and boy is that packaging awful.  Because they keycaps are blank, and R1-R2-R3-R4 all have slightly different profiles, I'm really struggling to sort them out -- specifically the 1u caps.

One thing I have noticed is that there is a weird dot/small protrusion on the 'north' side of each keycap towards the bottom center (or at least I think it's always on the north side?).  I've been sorting all the caps so they have that pointing away from me.  Beyond that, it's a maddening task to try to divvy them into the right row assignment.

Anyone have any tips/tricks to doing this? I feel like this could take me several hours to get this sorted.  Also, not sure how to identify F and J home row keys.  They're supposed to have a deeper dish, but honestly, it doesn't look too obvious at first glance?

Sorry to hear the keycaps came in scrambled! Will this image help in identifying the profile for each row?

Thanks, Kaisar -- I found that too and printed it out to help, but it's still really challenging differentiating R3 and R4 in practice.  If the sprue mark (that weird dot I was referring to -- just learned they're called sprue) really is always away from you, then that helps with differentiating R1/R2 from R3/R4.

Well, two hours later and I think I got it all sorted out. Put all the caps on a table with the sprue marks facing away from me.  This sorted them into two obvious groups (R1/R2, and R3/R4).  Shined a flashlight on the R1/R2 caps to find two that reflected differently, and lined them up like they would be on a keyboard, and repeated for R3/R4.  Once I got four caps lined up like the profile picture Kaisar posted, I then just slowly started separating them out, using a flash light to accentuate the subtle differences in contours.

The only real challenge that I'm not confident I did correctly was identifying the F and J keys.  Never had spherical keycaps before, so no clue how pronounced the enhanced dip of those keys are supposed to be. If I did get it right, then I think I'm going to struggle with identifying my home row... I'm used to have a raised bar/bump on those keys which is quite obvious, and this spherical approach just isn't pronounced enough.

Anyway... not a fun task.  Never seen such poorly packaged keycaps from a company before.

In my opinion, to classify easily you should pay attention to the characteristics of each row. The R1 keycaps (top row) usually slope slightly forward, while the R4 keycaps (bottom row) tend to slope back.
