Its been a while since i updated this thread and mostly just posting on IG because its just easier. Dont want to loose all the content i posted here so i will try to update here what i post in IG.
So for a refresher post with a little bit of history, i once did a cap named Chibi Dragon where its so weird and tall and so hard to cast (with the equipment i had back then) that it was only available in limited numbers. it was a test sculpt i did for fun back in 2014 since i like dragons so much. I was so happy with it back then because i really dont have any sculpting experience before this whole artisan keycap fiasco.
So after posting it here in GH, i got some good feedback for the cap and decided to cast it using the master below.
After that, i found out that the design doesnt cast well with my current methods and getting like less than 50% success rate so i only made like a couple of variations and stopped making more.
Then some cool people approached me to do a secret GB for the Chibi Dragon requesting like 20++ caps and unique color each which made me realize, commissions is really effin hard to do
)
And because of the difficulty of the current design and making like 15 Chibi Dragons, i updated the design because the master keeps breaking after demoulding and to make it a little bit easier to cast, and that is where the design below was made.
So after how many weeks or a month passed just to finish the GB, i ended up making the caps shown below.
That is where i decided to discontinue the design since the master broke again completely and its too tedious to remake to just have it broken again after 1 mould making.
Then after the distribution of the secret GB, people keeps messaging me about how to acquire one and/or if there are extras. Since the moulds and master is gone, i wasnt able to supply more and just let people forget about it.
After some time, i see people posting the chibi dragons and making me think of maybe a good idea to update it and try to see if i can do better with my current setup.
I tried to do a quick sculpt of it and this guy came about.
And after casting it and see how it looks in different colors, there was a small voice inside saying that it doesnt look good which made me decide to stop casting it again after like 3-5 caps sold.
Since then i still think of how to recreate it but better as looking at it now, i realize that i really dont know how to sculpt when i started this hobby. lol. And i think that i improved a lot since then and now would be a good time to do it the newest version of the chibi dragon.
So after thinking of how to approach the design since its a weird cap with a very tall profile, i need to consider the possibility of multi shots even with the head would be all too deep in the mould if i make it too tall. And looking at different dragon pics and angle to know what would work in a 1u cap and end up with this one.
it is still pretty rough but i think i am very happy with it already. I would need to add more details with it and polish it smooth just so i would be contented with it.
Will post again after i finish sculpting it hoping you guys will like it like the very first one
Sorry for the long post and cheers everyone
