Introducing the Bolsalice by Bolsa Supply; our take on the 60% Alice layout keyboard

The Bolsalice has been in the works for almost a year now, with the first prototype being showcased during our 1 year anniversary twitch stream that took place back in June of 2021 and is now finally being fully introduced. When we designed the Bolsalice, the same mentality was kept as with the Midway60. We aren't exactly trying to reinvent the wheel; we just wanted to create a really damn solid board that looked good, sounded good, had all the features we wanted in a board, and felt amazing to type on right out of the box without the need for additional modifications like foam, tape, etc. (not that there is anything wrong with this! It just isn't our personal preference). We took some of the design touches that made the Midway60 unique and injected it into the design of Bolsalice. The end result is a board that carries a lot of the Bolsa design DNA and satisfies our cravings as enthusiasts in what we wanted in an Alice layout keyboard - just like what Midway60 did for us.

Specs:
•60% Alice Layout
•CNC 3 Piece Construction (top, bottom, weight)
•6063 Aluminum, Sandblasted + Anodized
•Isolated gasket sandwich mount (2mm thick PORON gaskets)
•Multiple plate options featuring leaf spring tabs and half-plate variants
•15mm front height (bottom to the end of lip), 17mm from the top of the lip
•7° typing angle
•~2.3kg unbuilt
•Bolsa logomark engraving motif on the weight
•Solder PCB with a JST + Daughterboard connection
•Front lip/chamfer design + exaggerated seam (Midway60 seam)

General information
•As of right now we are aiming for a partial small in stock run following a group buy with a limited spot capacity. This is still tentative.
•We hope to start production on in-stock units as Midway60 fulfillment moves a bit quicker, that way we can launch the sale immediately after Midway60 is finished. Again this is all just tentative and is subject to change.
•Colors are still being worked out as we await color samples from our manufacture, but as of right now we are aiming for gray, navy, e-white, and forest green. Renders of each color provided below.
•Price point projection (UPDATE 4/2): $400 (base)

•Finalize plate material and options
•Finalize color options
•Finalize price and sale quantity (for both in stock and group buy)
•Send prototype unit to our network of content creators for build and review content
•Announce sale date

Updates 4/2/2022 - Taken directly from our Discord:

First off wanted to quickly thank everyone for filling out the IC form. We have been thumbing through the discussion in the chat and also reading each and every comment placed in the IC form, taking considering of all the input you guys provided. Thanks to that we have a few major changes we are happy to announce.

Limited Edition Ver.
Originally, we were going to do the tinted black PC + SS weight combo as the limited edition variant. Based off the IC we saw the want for this combo so massively requested that we have decided to change this into a standard colorway, while removing the least favored color which is navy in this case. We faced a lot of flack for making Obsidian so limited when it was the most demanded CW by far, so we wanted to make sure we didn't repeat that again. Additionally, we are now going to allow SS weight as an addon option, with brass weights being standard. This means tinted black PC + brass will be available as a standard color, with the option of opting for SS instead of brass if you pay for the upgrade. You can also swap to a SS weight with any of the aluminum color offerings as well.

With this being a standard color, what will be the new LE version? Well, we are excited to announce that the new LE will be called "blackout". The board will feature a jet black ano and will sport a black mirror polished PVD coated brass weight. We have tested this combo on the Midway before, and it is absolutely nuts. Attached will be an image of our Midway60 in this exact color combo alongside a render of what the Bolsalice will look like.

Pricing
After some discussion with our manufacture, we are happy to announce that the new target price for the Bolsalice is now going to be $400 at the base level, with polycarbonate being a more. Alice boards are always a bit more expensive to manufacture than regular boards due to the high amount of waste that goes into CNC'ing this particular design, but we hope this new price figure makes the board more appealing to everyone. Again, this is not fully set in stone and still tentative - but we will do everything we can to make this a reality.

Timeline
Final prototype is currently underway and when confirmed we will share the unit with our content creators and get started on manufacturing our initial small in stock batch. Soft limit group buy will follow after the sale of the in stock batch. Our aim is to have this ready and happen sometime Q3.

•15mm front height (bottom to the end of lip), 17mm from the top of the lip

is this measurement taken from the chin of the board or from the flat section near the ctrl keys?

•Solder PCB with a JST + Daughterboard connection

does this mean standard alice pcbs aren't compatible?

It is from the chin

Correct, the PCB is proprietary due to the JST connection
