Signature Plastics G20: Good Idea or Bad Idea?

I recently acquired some of these and I find them to be quite lovely as compared to DSA. To those who've tried this profile, what do you think? Is this a profile worth investing time and money into for new colors and sets?

I've only tried a few I acquired through an SP crap bag some time ago, but I liked them for sure. To me one of the downsides of DSA is the relatively small surface area on top of the cap, which made my typing a bit inaccurate since the keystrokes felt off when not quite perfectly centered on the cap. The G20 caps have a very wide surface area that felt pretty nice.

I got a few in a crap bag, so I don't have any impressions of actual typing on them.
I don't know how I would feel about having no sort of contour on the top, but it seems like it would be something really nice, or absolutely horrible.

That said, I'm hoping someone has them at a meetup in the future so I can try some.

Very cool...thanks for sharing. As far as colorways, I am a Firefly Fan (otherwise known as a Browncoat) and I have toyed with the notion of doing a set based on Brown and tan and then as another choice Grey and purple. All with Black Dye-subbed Legends.

Love em. Problem I had with them was sets previously had dome for F/J, this drove me insane on the blank keyset!
They're really good for anyone who likes low profile caps/scissors, though I say this as as gamer primarily.

The Ducky YOTG came with them. I think I read somewhere that they're using their own clipped/lubed cherry stab inserts on their boards.

DSA has very small tops besides being flat, I suppose the benefit is that these caps have larger areas on top; but, still, I'd prefer sculpted over these flats anytime.

GH and DT members are SP best sale force, they do not need to pay someone to promote anything, while they have free sales personnel. Now with MD system they have another distribution channel that takes low cost to promote demand.

Apparently these are so new that they don't have pricing available yet for GB organizers to create sets in other colors. If (strong if) I were to do sets I would probably keep them simple and follow their current set models but with different colors and less options.

That is a very good insight!

On the other hand, I love mechanical keyboards precisely because they don't feel like laptop keyboards. I hate laptop keyboards; in fact, I don't consider them keyboards at all. They are, at best, modern torture devices cleverly disguised as useful computer interfaces.

I have tried DSAs with the intention to like them, I used them for more than a year unsuccessfully. The main aspects I did not like was the rough surface, the flatness and the small top area. The last may be different with G20 though, but I learned that a flat typing surface is just not for me. I might be biased, but I really enjoy a smooth surface and well defined contoured rows, so I love OG ABS DS Cherry, therefore I make a very prejudice judge for the G20.

I completely understand. People have differing preferences (I personally hate SA, after using both Penumbra and Symbiosis).
Reading about your mindset regarding trying G20 kind of tipped me off, since I really believe that G20 can compete with current popular key profiles.
The problem right now is lack of community designed keysets featuring G20, which means most people probably have never even heard of them.
The last thing I want is people refusing to even give it a try when I believe it has so much potential.
As far as reviewing, I may try to write up a review when I have time. My offer still stands though, if anyone would like to have a set of G20 caps to review, I can lend them out.

i've received my set yesterday (i'm typing this on them as a matter of fact) and will do a small write write up along with the FC750R review i'm (gonna be) doing after the holidays, but the tl;dr version is i don't really like them (compared to the cherry profile GMKs i had on before). the profile just isn't my cup of tea, it seems. i think i like the sculptured cherry profile more, the keys have a VERY small gap between them, so i often press two keys at the same time or press the wrong one (that may be because i'm not fully used to them though). I like the quality though, the dyesubbed PBT is nice. i think i'll be putting them up in the classifieds early next year.

i don't think they're bad per se, just not my cup of tea.
