Has anyone replaced a key switch with a joystick/trackpad?

I ordered an Ergodox EZ to address some wrist/ elbow pain I've been having, and I'm really excited. I'm going to give it some time to see how I like it but the next cause of pain I'd like to eliminate is the separate mouse - I have seen some mods where people swap out a key for a trackball, but has anyone done something similar with a small joystick or trackpad? If so, what did you use?
