lightgrey mods/beige alphas, lightgrey mods/white alphas

Gateron offered two whites, one was blindingly white white which hurts my eyes to look at (imagine hardcore white CC) and the other was normal white which can be likened to pure milk white.
This GB has the milky daylight white white. Not the blindingly white white.
My white should be the equivalent of MD's milk, hard to tell unless they got better pictures.
And they don't have my beige.

Well let me be the first to suggest Light Gray main + Dark Gray modifiers, aka the Dolch color scheme. Dolch is quite popular, so I'd imagine some people would be interested.

Basically, sorry to tell you but you're not going to get it as it doesn't exist. Only place known that has ISO enter key mold in Cherry profile for PBT is Cherry themselves... and they have never released blank ISO PBT sets or any boards with them as far as I know. Additionally, Cherry PBT have a very fine texture not a course and rough one. Only stuff they made a long time ago is thick, current PBT from Cherry is thinner.
Closest you are going to get would be to take one of groupbuy sets in ANSI, like those I run for example, and pair it up with an ISO enter key from vintage Cherry set or GMK.

For the registered you get a tracking number so there's less chance of your package being lost.
But sometimes post offices in certain countries don't give a **** regarding the registered package, means your shipping status might not be updated after it enters your country until you receive it or it gets returned.

Like everything else it's a personal preference. I like typing on Cherry profile keys more than OEM, I suppose the lower-profile suits my typing style.

No. It's for Cherry-style caps lock keys, which have the key moved slightly to the left of the standard non-stepped caps. The stem is moved to match. It's the same with the 6u spacebar that won't fit most boards with a 6u spacebar; Cherry likes to put things off-center for some reason and the stem is moved as a result.

Firstly, I cant because they come ready in sets, like your GMK or BSP.
Unless you'll want to buy two sets......my recommendation is that you get a two-tone and a single colour which overlaps with the two-tone mods colour

I am just afraid that the colors isn't exactly the same. Also the profile may not be the same.
So a total of 4 keys.
We need: 1x ISO enter, 1x R4 key(1u), 1x R3 key(1u) and 1x 1.25u key. Everything should be blank.

Yeah I agree with that. If you are afraid about taking part into this GB, shadovved is a member you can trust. He managed a GB of 100k+ gateron switches with Hwood and everyone got their orders. Just saying in case you are not used to GH's GB.

Light grey mods and and beige/milk white alphas are very close to Cherry thick dyesub PBT keycaps, with the beige being slightly more yellow and the light grey a tad colder.

Don't worry. You are not losing out on the stark white color. It's like a set of hardcore white CCs.
My white is the normal white you see around from SP or BSP.

Hm. This is not good news. Until now most of us have assumed that the keycaps are identical in color to what Massdrop offers. I based my choice of keycaps on the Massdrop mockups because they were supposed to be accurate. Now I'll probably have to cancel and make a new selection based on the correct color comparisons. It would be nice if someone could get Gateron to release a full color comparison chart/image, cause right now there seems to be no way to know the difference between Massdrop's and Shadovved's caps.

I have no idea what Massdrop is talking about because most of their pictures of the full sets look like renders.

I am not sure that this has been answered but I have read through the thread and the over view of these caps but I am still confused about one thing. Are these the same as the IMSTO PBT caps?
IMSTO's caps are from two different vendor.
1. Vortex Thick PBT in Cherry profile. (Usually bundle in 105 keys), this caps in Massdrop.com had also been hold gb before.(laser printed)
2. Gateron Thick PBT in Cherry profile. (bundle in 117 keys) This is same as which is activating in Massdrop.com
And only imsto have black color now.
Here I have many kinds of key caps from different vendors.

I think that is excellent considering this was done "word of mouth".
On a different note, have you seen the keycaps on the new MD board (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/kc60-mechanical-keyboard?mode=guest_open)? Do you know if Gateron is making these dyesub keycaps or if they are capable of doing so?

What I find awesome: while some manufacturers don't even offer PBT spacebars, presumambly because of warping, Gateron actually includes three spacebars with their sets at a reasonable price!
Well, to be fair, with the sets from Ivan's dark pbt groupbuy some people did have issues with the tolerances on the 7u spacebars. The outer stems were too close together (possibly due to shrinkage), so they didn't fit on the stabilizers.

(there's a workaround where instead of dyesubbing the legend, you dyesub the rest of the keycap, but that's extremely expensive)

The ones on the keyboard, and spread out on the table are beige and light.
The ones in the ziplock bag are dark and white. I haven't put them on a keyboard yet.

Printing out this check sheet (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33475.msg631863#msg631863) but since the check sheet is only a guide for key cap sizes, refer to this image to identify profiles:

I find it easiest to identify Row 3 (i.e. ASDF row) by using the keys with homing bars as reference.
Then identify Row 1 (i.e. F and Number rows) as it is the tallest and most "square" in side profile.
Then grab the 2.75u Shift (it's the longest key that isn't a space bar) then use that to start matching Row 4 Keys (i.e ZXCV and bottom rows). You can also use the 1.25 mod keys as reference since they are easy to identify.
hopefully, the remaining 1u keys are Row 2.
Tips:
- the two 1.5u keys that don't match in profile with the other four 1.5u keys are the "Tab" and "| \" keys
- the vertical numpad enter has a front profile of a Row 4 key
- Row 3 has very few keys since there are no keys between the arrows and nav cluster

quick question, is it normal for gateron key not bottoming out(i like it) as opposed to my stock poker 2 keycap?

Yea that look weird for me as well, I think I'm missing tab keys then because the other keys I have that fit are not of the right profile.

Heh, I saw your photos on reddit and they actually drove me to pick that combo in the first place. My monitor has pretty bad colors (some real bad washing out in the middle) but some of your pics make them look like they're not contrasty enough for my liking.

I don't know a whole lot about photography but my pictures look fairly true to my set, not quite colour matched but the contrast between sets is reasonable (I do have a Spyder 4 Pro calibrated monitor), I haven't balanced them or tweaked them or anything but I picked the one that looked the most real. One thing I did notice is the light can affect how they look next to each other a fair bit, i.e. looking directly overhead with the light straight down on them the LG and Beige look closer than they do when looking at them at an angle, you can kind of see that in 1ammikes photos too comparing the first angled one to the second straight on one, its weird I don't know if its the artificial lighting or the keys surfaces that causes it - its night now and has been rainy lately so I haven't had a good chance to take pictures under decent natural light - you can see the difference in the picture right at the bottom but at each of those angles the pictures look reasonably close to what I actually see.
Here is another pic of all the spacebars lined up to give you an idea of contrast, its taken on a Lumia 930 with flash under a cool white CFL ceiling light (if that helps you understand what it might look like?) with a white piece of A4 printer paper behind:

No, the whites went on without a problem.

I have blacks from Ivan's R3 (same manufacturer) and they fit on my QFR with Costar stabs without any problems. Don't have a numpad to test on, so I don't know how those ones work.

As for inventory, I'm missing 2x dark grey R1 1u, and everything else is in order. I would also be interested in buying single keys, besides the two that I'm missing. For example, my atomic would really benefit from having one more light grey R4 1.25u.

In my excitement to set them up, I actually broke a few of the stems :mad: Never happened to me before. I have MX Clears some it normally takes a bit of extra force and some wriggling to get the caps on, but I've never broken any before. I have been working out... but not that much.

In my excitement to set them up, I actually broke a few of the stems :mad: Never happened to me before. I have MX Clears some it normally takes a bit of extra force and some wriggling to get the caps on, but I've never broken any before. I just wanted to share. Be careful yo.
I had the opposite problem pulling them off my hefy aluminum board, they *almost* pulled the entire switch top off. (clear stems). after really giving her i saw the switch top begin to lift off the switch base and was a little more careful. thankfully all the switches still work, but be careful when removing these.

Unfortunately I'm missing some keys too, all 3 spacebars to be exact. I'm not too worried since the missing keys form is now a thing and I'm in no rush but it's a shame to see happen nonetheless

Really like the keys. The Gateron Cherry profile has slightly fatter (more surface area) finger pads than the Vortex Cherry's -- love the feel, plus I like the subtle difference in the overall look of the keyboard from the top (with the fatter pads).

Do it by row profile:
You need to just eyeball them. Anything that matches your 1.25u keys is for the bottom two rows, anything matching your homing keys in profile is the home row, anything matching the 2u backspace (which I found easy to tell apart from the other 2u numpad keys) is the top two rows. The remaining keys are for the one remaining row. The numbers do not seem to have any meaning, as far as I am aware.

Personally the ones I had trouble telling apart were R2 and R3 since R2 are just slightly taller than R3.
R4 are tall in the front and angled down
R1 are just huge :))

Lastpilot's NerD Crystal (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=65501.0) is one of my favorite builds and I contemplated going a similar route with the Tex acrylic case and SPRiT's acrylic plate, but ended up getting a LeandreN plate and these wonderful Gateron keycaps.

Do we have to report color mismatch as well? It seems I had more beige than needed and not enough light grey on my light/beige combo set however I'm not sure about it as I have not checked everything.Picking up a ghost white set!

Edit: So i actually just looked and you will need to carve off some plastic on the outside edge of the two stems that are joined together to clear the mount. Ascii diagram, grind where red:

I'll give it a go in the next couple days and will post pics. Luckily I ordered two sets so will practice on my least favourite :)
Can anyone hint at the best way to audit the caps? I was looking for a print out map but my googlefu is failing

I did it yesterday. I have changed all the orders that had weird keys in weird rows, but if you submitted weird keys in weird rows and meant it....probably resubmit.

Just got my second set today (yay!) These keycaps are awesome. However my leopold has cherry stabilizers on the space bar (6.25u). +1 - never considered buying blank PBT's and dye-ing them before, but now it seems like such an obvious things to do, I love having unique colors on my keyboard, might dye some orange*

I don't regret many things in life but I regret applying to US colleges, instead of half-assing it, you have to tenfold-ass it, even if you do, scholarship applications etc. would be a major headache
I completed several applications/essays in a day and mailed them on the deadline (so it was deadline + shipping = late)
On the bright side, after that nightmarish experience, I ended up being a bit better organised

Guess I'm late to the party, but I only just spotted this yesterday! Completed the form last night for 3 sets of 'extras' - 2 White (plan on dying 1 set blue) and 1 Dark Gray. I'm an ISO user with a penchant for Cherry Stabilisers so I have some hassle to endure:
- I guess I'm going to have to Dremel the spacebar to make it fit?
- I read the entire thread and from what I can gather - because I'm buying multiple blank sets - I'm only going to have to acquire the Left Shift and Enter key elsewhere?

As for the key to the right of the left shift, it's a bottom row 1u, and the set includes spares of those.

The ISO left shift is a 1.25u mod, same profile as the spacebar row. IIRC there are only 7 of them included in these sets, so if your layout uses all 7 for the bottom row, you'll need one extra. The same goes for the 1u key in the home row just to the left of the ISO Enter.
As for the key to the right of the left shift, it's a bottom row 1u, and the set includes spares of those.
edit: and you also need one ISO enter, of course
Thank you for your excellent and concise summary. It would seem I'll only be missing an ISO Enter then. I can harvest (and possibly dye?) one from a Cherry G81-3000 until I can acquire a matching keycap.
I actually found a site that allows you to buy items from the previously mentioned Taobao link in English. Sadly, they don't accept Paypal and I don't trust the site with any other details.

It's the costar stabs which make it hard to fit, you'll be fine with cherry stabs.

Really happy with it except one problem and that is the 7u spacebar which I really need for my layout.
It's slightly warped in a weird way and makes it like a milimeter shorter which creates the problem with it not being able to fit on the stabilizer.
I mean it barely fits if I push it a bit but then the spacebar isn't usable because it gets stuck every time due to tight fit.
I've tried my other 7u spacebar and it fits without problems, and comparing the two I saw my Gateron spacebar is not as straight as it should be.
What do? :(

Thanks. I tried the "boiling" method however my spacebar is still warped even after putting it under the base of my monitor for a week and have resulted to using the set w my own spacebar. Guess will try if this works.

But here lies the problem. When I put two spacebars next to one another, Gateron is 1mm shorter and because of that, those things where stems go are misaligned and it still gets stuck.
From what I've read, it's a common problem for PBT spacebars to have issues, especially the bigger ones like 7u.

Other than these, Is the other spacebar an OEM profile one, OEM profile is higher
Stiffness will go away in time, the plastic inserts deform, stiffness will turn into looseness in some time, but during this, your spacebar switch may degrade too

In any case, stabilisers are hard to get right, if you care, you have a long bumpy road ahead, the simplest thing for you to do would be to use another spacebar that works

Makes sense, one of the reasons I like Costar's so much is because WASD is providing awesome Costar components, but they don't have a 7u wire as you mentioned, with Cherry's there is an incredible amount of fragmentation, many types of stabilisers that all look the same and all of them are hard to find/source - I never could make any of them work for me tho, there is always at least a rattling/stiffness that remains

Is there any way getting matching ISO addons (Enter, R3 1U, R4 1U, R4 1.25U) from enjoypbt/Tao Bao or somebody else?
If I were you, I would get the 1U/1.25U's from Shadovved by paying extra, and I would buy a GMK ISO Enter from someone and use that ISO Enter
It might be a bit too late for the extras, but maybe not
You can always find tons of ISO Enter's through classifieds, everyone has many that they can't use, I sometimes get the urge to build an ISO keyboard since those Enter keycaps are just too beautiful to leave unused

Pale/transparent-ish orange, blue, green, purple etc. would be nice
+ Individual key ordering with a specialised form would be nice (much like the missing keycaps form, but easier both for the buyer and the leader)

European users would appreciate an ISO addon kit for any Gateron set.
I'd like to build a split keyboard with hungarian layout, but getting properly printed caps is impossible, so I guess I have to go for blanks, or maybe UK layout.
(Technically DE layout would suit me better, but I don't like german modifier keys ;D)
Also please consider adding the other Gateron extras as options: Minila space key, windowed Caps/Num/Scr keys.

I like KHAANNN's idea, but I was thinking primary/basic colors at first (although I'd also love Vim green). I would be good with just color packs of mods + esc, because I mainly want to accent what exists now. I would be willing pay for setup costs rolled into the first few runs, for sure.

I was expecting the dark blank to be a bit darker honestly, as others also suggested, I would love to see darker/black-ish gateron blanks too
Haven't put these on a keyboard yet, but on desk they match/exceed GMK quality, they are not inferior like the Vortex ones

I'd totally be in for gateron dyesubs given the price is right! I've been using a set of the two tone beige caps for a few months now and they're my favourite!

Yeap the original GB for 4 coloured blanks will be back. But the price will be slightly higher as enjoypbt is upping the price.
