Remove metal "IBM" label?
« on: Sat, 22 May 2010, 13:03:28 »
Has anyone removed the metal "IBM" label from a Model M? I'd like to know the method for doing it without harming the label or keyboard.

I have spare terminal boards with them. I might make a magnet with one.

I'd like a spare silver ibm label.
IBM F :: IBM M :: Northgate :: Cherry G80 :: Realforce :: DAS 4

See the "Hate Your Windows Key, Mod It" mod for how to punch those metal labels out from the back. That's the safest way although you may want to make two holes for the larger label.
Thanks Ripster, I'll try this approach.

Your best bet is to stalk terminal boards on Ebay. You'll get a full set of keys & springs as a bonus. I paid $5 for a practically unused terminal board. It doesn't have LEDs, otherwise I would just plan on converting it.
