My First Attempt At Hand Wiring (DONE!)
« on: Mon, 13 June 2016, 13:32:10 »
I have wanted to hand wire a keyboard for a while now and I have all the parts to put it together so I thought I might as well post the progress.

Here are the parts I have right now:

Gateron Blues with 55g Springs

DSA Dolch

60% Plate

DIY Cable

I got some of this multicolor wire, but I think I will probably just do the whole thing with the black wire so it looks nicer

Diodes

Teensy 2.0

Cherry Stabilizers

All I really need now is just some adhesive velcro to affix the teensy to the plate.

It was looking so tidy until you added the teensy, I hope those wires are all the right length for wherever it's going but sure doesn't look that way...

Love the colour of that case/plate, will add some subtle colour to the dolch :thumb:

I haven't trimmed the wires yet. My plan is to mount the teensy, route the wires, then trim and solder them on. I will try to keep all the wires under the diodes so they look tidy and do not sag.

Haha, should have looked more closely at the other end - they are soldered on the teensy :-[

Thanks :)

Now for programming it. I am trying to use this website and I am getting this error when I try to build a hex file. Anyone know what it means?

Well it should have been very obvious but I wasn't supposed to enter KC_ before each keycode as the app puts it there for you. Thanks to the creater of the website (iandr0idos) for pointing that out. Now the keyboard is up and working. Pics tomorrow after I get some shinkwrap for my usb cable. It looks so nice with dolch on it though o.o

Changed the spec a bit. 55g Gateron Blues with 70g Gateron Blues for the mods.

Underside looks great but it's still better from the top - good work!

How noisy are the blues with no case to damp them?

Funny enough I was originally going to use gateron blacks but when I put a few linear switches and keycaps on the empty plate and used them it was incredibly pingy, so I switched to clicky. Once everything is on it though, there is no extra ping or anything. Sounds just like any other keyboard which is nice.

Thank you :) It is one of my favorite boards already. I need to find a way to get some feet for it though, I don't want it scratching on things or having the surface scratch the paint on the bottom. I need some sort of clamping feet, I know I have seen them before but I have no idea what it would be called.
