I’m in. A good looking green set like this is an insta buy for me, assuming I can afford it when the GB happens. I got into this rabbit hole too late for the SA GB, but GMK is probably even better.

I do have one question tho, and I realize it might be completely unrealistic, but here goes anyway. I would love two R4 1.5U keys that would go on a HHKB layout board with a Mac. The 1.5 Control and Alt keys are a bit out of place there. Command / Super / Novelties in 1.5U R4 would be great. Looking forward to this set either way!

The idea of removing one of the novelty arrows to lower cost would be fine with me. I’d prefer a set of maroon arrows that are just regular GMK icons.

Edit: how about removing the green novelty arrows? I would think the maroon accent ones would be more popular, so I’d keep the novelty matrons arrows and just have a set of regular arrows in both colours. Just a suggestion :)

Now, I already own SA Camping, but the chance to own it with support for split spacebar and HHKB/X60-style support? I'm so in on this.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your comments/suggestions, I'll surely look into some great suggestions such as a R4 1u End.
About ergo/planck and more novelty keys, the thing is..we are doing this as a vendor GB rather than MD.
Hence we need to take good consideration of pricing and compatibility and of course MOQ.
Once GMK sends me the pricing of this initial design, I'll see what we can do about all your requests.  ;D
Currently, my goal is to keep Camping ~$150 GB price. I received some nice suggestions about lowering the price that really worth considering, such as remove one of those 2 arrow novelties.
Let me know what you think about this please.
Not having ortho support isn't that big of a deal but dropping novelties would suck. The novelties make this kit IMHO. Even If the price was over 150 I feel it would be worth it to keep as many novelties as possible.

Lets see where the pricing is, but I would very much like the keep the marron arrow novelties. It really accentuates the entire kit. Thanks! Can't wait!

Love this set. My input would be to keep the maroon novelty arrows. As a 65% lover, I too would like R2/R3 novelties if possible. Either way, looks great and definitely a buy from me. (Assuming money is a thing by then :))

You should keep the brown arrow keys since the arrow keys in the base kit are already green.

Yeah definitely, my suggestion was to possibly have both those green arrows and also brown arrow keys in the base kit that aren’t novelty.

I would very likely be in for this! If you have an Ortho kit, it would bump that up further. Dvorak/Colemak would make it a must buy, though I know it's hard to kit MOQ on that. Good luck!

My poor poor wallet. Yeah I'm pretty much 100% in.

I can't decide if I prefer SA or GMK for this set thought. I much prefer the gmk profile, but this colorway goes SO WELL with the big, rounded SA font.

Yeah seems like most GMK kits are expensive these days with the Euro being strong compared to 2-3 years ago. At least it's down from early this year.

My suggestion would to remove all 8 novelty arrow keys. Yes, they are really really nice, but i would much rather have the different novelties, and the arrows with 4 (?) new molds should detract quite a decent bit from the price i suppose.

Another suggestion would be to replace those 8, with just regular maroon arrows as well.

Is both 6u (either one or both) space-bars needed? Especially since you can get those in the space-bar addon kit. Not sure how many actually use those.

So:
-remove 8 novelty arrow
-possible add maroon regular arrow cluster
-remove 6u spacebar(s) since 6u is available in spacebar-kit.

Agree with all the above. If people really want the arrow novelties I would settle on one colour at most. And yeah I'd pick one 6u spacebar at most as well, not sure which is more commonly used though.

Obviously I haven’t seen the pricing and I’m not sure if this has been said before, but why not just split the base kit into base + novelties and add some extra maroon accents to the base kit, like enter, escape, or arrows? I feel like that’s more in line with the status quo for GMK sets coming out lately anyway. Love the novelties though, please don’t change them, except maybe only doing one arrow color.

Problem with splitting novelties is they might not fire. MOQ is high, and the camping novelties is such an integral part of the keyset.

Good point, especially since there’s so many of them the kit could be pricey.

I think we should keep at least one color of the arrows, this is something special from Camping, Camping would be incomplete without those
spliting the novelty is not an option imo. Spliting kits won't help much for the total cost, may even increase it due to MOQ, this is unfair for those who will buy both base and novelty kit.

For the record, according to the pricing I got today, we are looking at $170-180 GB price depends on freight. This is for the kit design in my OP without that 6u spacebar.
I think I'm gonna remove the green arrow novelties and put some spacebars in the spacebar kit, and see if we can get it down to $150-160.
HHKB will stay, no worries.

Some thoughts based on my experience with GMK. Removing multiples of keys with custom novelties on them won't significantly lower the price of the set. As long as a custom novelty is used a single time, you're paying the extra for having it made. Any duplicates of that new design will be priced as a normal key since you've already paid the extra for the first instance of the design. Because of this, doing something like removing one of the sets of novelty arrow keys won't significantly reduce the price, most likely <$1 apiece, but removing some of the unique 1u novelties would result in significant reduction.  Removing one of the novelty enters may result in a small reduction due to being both a novelty and a larger cap. What does reduce price significantly is extra spacebars and other "large" keys. Moving the 6u spacebars to the other kit would most likely give a few $ apiece price difference. Additionally, removing some of the redundant capslock keys would reduce price by a few bucks as well. Other than that, I don't see a whole lot that is extra that can easily be removed without sacrificing kit integrity. I do think the extra 1u \| should be removed as it doesn't offer anything over the \| with ~# included. I'm also not a fan of the r3 control keys since they don't improve physical compatibility, but that's a pretty opinionated reduction that probably shouldn't be taken lightly.

There are definitely a couple of novelties that I could live without (particularly the fish), but I imagine we'd need to do a poll or something and that's assuming OP is even ok with it.

Would it be possible to add a 2u shift for DZ60/XD60/Manila compatibility? GMK appears to have the molds for it now so hopefully it's not too out of the question.

Other than that, it looks great! Looking forward to the buy!

I think that the set has two things that need to be addressed... It's very green. I think that maroon works as a wonderful accent, but we're not getting enough of it. Secondly, I think that we could certainly leave out a few 'novelites'. Specifically, I don't see the need for two sets of those arrow keys, and, seeing as the set is already green enough, the maroon ones are the better alternative.

I think this set needs a bit more thought in that regard, and a little less C-c C-v. That being said, I'm a big fan of where it's heading.

I agree with that opinion of the green spacebars, spacebar kit definitely needs to be updated.

Besides this, removing the R3 ctrl sounds doable to me. A quick question to HHKB users tho, do you really need a R3 ctrl?

tbh, I don't think I wanna sacrifice any individual novelty key, neither does Monkey six.

I guess we need to start a poll...if I figure out how to start one.. ;D

Sorry guys if I don't quote all of your useful suggetions in my reply..
It's just multi-quote is a headache here...especially to someone who doesn't post a lot.

Would it be possible to add a 2u shift for DZ60/XD60/Manila compatibility? GMK appears to have the molds for it now so hopefully it's not too out of the question.

Other than that, it looks great! Looking forward to the buy!

This sounds quite doable to me, since I own 2 XD60 boards and it's quite popular in China as well. Will add that in the next revision.

For the poll I'd recommend compiling a list of the individual keys we might cut (as in not just R3 Control, but R3 Control and R3 Stepped Control etc.), that way we can all vote for what is most important to us etc. I'd also toss in some of the caps locks in there too as I don't know if we need two different windowed caps locks.

Removal suggestions:
LED window caps lock and LED stepped caps lock
R3 stepped control - keep the standard R3 control
four long green space bars - bring the white space bars into the spacebars kit
green arrow novelty keys - keep the maroon

Any possibility for an R4 1u Hack key? The mould for it already exists, so there shouldn't be any significant costs to have it produced.

HOW MUCH IS THE FISH?!

Please don‘t take the fish! Love this one! If one has to go, you can take the stars. But I‘d also prefer to keep as mich of them as possible.

The windowed keys are there because a member of the camp team likes them, and will not be removed. I was talking to KNT about it, since I also like windowed keys.

I suspect the 6u spacebars will be added to the spacebar kit, and one of the arrow sets will be removed.

If my math is right, that should be enough to bring it to $150.

Definitely keep as many novelties as possible and keeping as much HHKB support as possible. Remove the green arrow novelties though imo and keep the maroon one would probably work imo. I'd also look into removing one of the R1 1u `~ and/or R2 1.5u \| keys and MAYBE remove the windowed caps lock as well, but I wouldn't know how popular those are. Then maybe hold a poll on whether HHKB users would use a stepped R3 control key or not and if there's not enough users willing to use it then remove it, if so then keep it. These are just my 2C's
I'm also assuming asking for a R3 1.75u FN key is gonna be unrealistic at this point.

I use hhkb layout daily (no blockers) and would love the R3 stepped control, but only if there was a R4 1.5u control alternative, like a super or something. Since having 3 controls on a board ruins the look. I usually just stick with stepped caps lock because most sets don't have stepped control or a different R4 1.5u control key.

R4 1.5u Fn key would make this my favorite set ever...

Personally don't care for novelties, but would keep 3-4 as it adds to the spirit of the set.

Edit: read the latest comments and my point has been already addressed

So excited for this set, I think I’ll build an iso layout just so I can use the maroon iso enter.

It will be good to see a poll and gauge interest numbers
