[IC] Moesode Ode 60% Keyboard
« on: Mon, 26 September 2022, 11:39:24 »
Hey, elli from Moesode. Ode is meant to be a reimagination of the OTD Mini.
When I first started on this over a year ago I wanted to recreate the look and feel of the Mini.
This board's mounting is a gummy worm o-ring gasket mount, and uses a 1.2mm CEM3 PCB with flexcuts.
With the combination of mounting, PCB, and plate choice you will be in for a nice typing experience.
A full plate gives a very even feel across the whole board, while with a half plate will having the alphas feel very bouncy.

Minimum order quantity is 100 boards.
Want to know whether or not people are interested in this board, want to know if people would be interested in a WKL top possibly.
Also if any other plate materials I should offer. My only concern is plastic plates will probably require you to have shelf liner under the PCB.

Seems a little expensive, how much does the board weigh when fully built and unbuilt? Can we see some pictures of the internals? Also your renders of the board don't have a seam.

While the plate may look different from the 356mini's, I think the overall external look (bezels, proportions, etc) is just too close to it.

Aside from the CEM3 1.2mm PCB, i don't see any reason to join your GB when i can get a UTD 356mini and receive it next week with the same design, same mounting style

Yeah I agree it definitely is close. This was the third prototype I did for a 60% and it was the best internally, but from the sounds of things a case redesign should be in the works.

I love the idea of designing a board with the intent of paying homage to the original. However, I would love for it to be different aesthetically, but with similar mounting as you have there. Would love to see some funky aesthetics with some OTD design queues, rather than the board being pretty much the same as the original, but with some stuff here and there tweaked. Either way glwic

Consider adding ISO support as Mechlovin did few month ago for the UTD release

Yeah I have a few ideas looking back at some of my other prototypes I was working on. Will probably also do something different for the weight. But yeah the internals are what really make the board.

Hey its a clone, but with a different weight. So its a "reimagination".

looks boring and uninspired, far too many boards attempting the same formula, and it's not like this brings anything new to the table

alu with weight and oring mount, no WKL/HHKB (and if you were to add hhkb i'm 99% sure it'd be with 7U spacebar anyway), typing angle is too high (why is literally every board on ic/gb 6 degrees or higher these days?), design is basically a tofu, back side is full of holes which is definitely not my cup of tea... almost 400 buckaroos for this?

consider me not interested, at all

In my opinion I would hope changing the external design doesn’t impact the sound, because it sounds amazing right now and actually somewhat close to a real 356 mini which is not something I can say for any UTD I’ve heard. For me sound is the most important and I would prefer that a clone prioritize sounding like the original.

I really like the idea of this board. If you want to add some flair to it, I think that a cherry style front chamfer and a Keycult No. 2 style rear fillet would look really nice. Maybe make the top and bottom bezels just slightly bigger?

I have been looking for a simple 2 piece o-ring board for a while though, so I am very interested in this.
