My 40% keyboard
« on: Mon, 08 December 2014, 12:41:40 »
Here is my 40% keyboard "22-MobiK. MobiK means mobile keyboard'.
MobiK PCB is designed by GON and I designed the housing for myself.
This is a USB/Bluetooth combo keyboard.
It will take some time to adapt to this keyboard and I may have to change my keymap several more times.
I made this one to take on my trip to Africa to use with my Xperia Z Ultra.
Hope you enjoy. :)

Is the battery mounted inside or outside of the case? I can't tell from the pictures.

That is really really awesome! I love the 40% design.
A Bluetooth portable Mech board that looks like factory.

Something like this is the only thing that would let me give up the last Rubber-dome keyboard I have. I still carry the apple bluetooth keyboard when i travel because its the only thing that is wireless and portable enough for what I need.

I Used to use the think-outside bluetooth keyboard back in like 2004, but haven't found anything that feels as good and is small enough since.

That KBD is real cute. ;)
Foldable BT mechanical keyboard of that size might be possible if someone designs the PCB using Cherry ML switches.
But I don't like that switch very much. :(

wow that is tiny i thought 60% was way too small but 40 thats a whole different level. Is the spacing between letters normal or slightly smaller ?

Not sure whether you're asking me but the board is GON's MobiK as I mentioned.

The spacing between keys are normal. :)

I also had one of this back in those days, however the main difference is that the board posted here is an MX switch based and the one you referred to is a scissors one. The feeling and all are not comparable, because the 40% has full size keys - area and height - and the scissors has a very low travel. Again, no product fits all needs, nor pockets, the 40 may cost $200 dollars, and the scissors under $90.
