Wait wait wait wait wait.
Let me get thsi straight, because I almost didn't believe it when I read the title.
This is still just using MX-styled switches, right?
You're not doing something super crazy like an buckling-sping-to-MX adapter, right?
Because, eff me, a man can dream.
9009 looking real sweet in those renders.
You should consider running a small GB for SP SA Row 3 9009 along with the keyboard. I believe MOQ for SP is only 25 for stock colors. Albeit the price would be $200-$220 at a small amount of orders but I'm sure you could find 25 or more willing participants even at that price.
Nice job! Will this be run through zfrontier?
ne chance of a non-HS pcb?Yes, there are. Since the PCB is just 0.6mm i got to test the hotswap as well. I have ordered a PCB prototype and i will update it here!
hey drclick, looks awesome! pls make the case compatible with original SSK internals so that I can have a real case for my FSSK <3Sorry,it's only compatible with MX.
then please do another IC for the original SSK :DMaybe later. Now we just working on MX one

Not a fan of the badge but other than that I fully support this+1 would look much cleaner without.

Yeah I might have to hop on this train. It's not a deal breaker for me though. I can take it or leave it, but I do agree it would be better without.
That PCB though. That's cool. With the board being flexed and curved like that, you don't anticipate any switch contact issues?
(as a completely un-related side note... the captcha that needs to be filled out for every post on this forum is a bit much).
Update some SSK badges.

MAO white should look great with this design.
Questions:
1. What's the connector type?
2. Are there adjustable feet like on real SSKs?
3. How does the solenoid mount?
3 on Gray / White board
5 on black board

Badge sample on my IBM SSK. :p
Curved mx plate/pcb is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I hope this succeeds. Also, I wish we could get plastic instead of aluminum, but that would be a whole different project, i suppose.Plastic will need a mold which is quite expensive.Need a much higher MOQ than CNCed Aluminum. If this one is a succeed project,i will consider to make a plastic one in the future :p :p :p
Yes, PVC logo could be colourful and it doesn't cost too muchShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/uzeobVB.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/nDyvkKv.jpg)

Damn that looks pretty cool, thought the logo was sus at first and I know sus, but that ain't bad

Need to find out about it.But i am worried about the shape change for a Polycarbonate case.Curved mx plate/pcb is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I hope this succeeds. Any chance for Policarbonate case ?
What stabilizers will be compatible ?Sorry, no. We use plate mount stabilizer for this and we will give a set of stabilizer in the kit,so you don't have to buy any stabilizers for this kit.
I'm wondering if the new C3 pcb mount screw in stabs will work
Any updates for this project? I'm still very hopeful to see this come to fruition. The prototyping is taking longer than we expected. They need custom tools and it will use a 4 aixs machine. It's very complicate to CNC them so it need more time.
No rush. Get it right. This project is very unique and I’m looking forward to progress.
Can you clarify why SA profile is recommended for this board? Is it because of the curved angle of the board, the need for tall keycaps with this shape, or both?
Would MT3 Profile work? Thought about running a KAT 9009 GB?
I don't like the way SA-profile keycaps fit on modern MX boards. Would they be more optimal for this SSK? How would my Filco R3 SA caps do?

How do you plan on keeping the PCB flexed during building/installation?

Any ALPS support? If enough people want an ALPS version, I will make one.
I found this keyboard on https://thekey.company/collections/upcoming-releases/products/relic-ssk and I am in love with the retro feel in a tenkeyless format.
Would these keycaps work with it?
https://drop.com/buy/gmk-triumph-adler-keycap-set#overview
What kind of cable will it use? usb-c, usb-micro, ps2?
+1 to no badge, or optional badge sticker.
I registered for this site purely to keep track of this group buy so I don't miss it! Is there a better way to be notified as soon as the buy starts?

Would the solenoid be able to be turned on and off?
Either through a key command or function in QMK or some kind of switch on the bottom or back of the case?
Just came across this on the key dot co and I'm really excited for the group buy whenever that opens up.There definitely would be a toggle keymap for it. Just like the Beamspring controller has it. There's also folks who have put solenoids inside their regular MX custom cases.

Intriguing. However, as I would use this in a Windows/Mac/Linux environment, a WKL only kills it for me.
That’s not preferable for quite a few people - I’ve got an SSK and a couple of full size Model Ms and I gravitate toward the M with three keys to the left of Space as that’s where my muscle memory assumes my fingers will find ctrl/alt/win/apple/whatever.Intriguing. However, as I would use this in a Windows/Mac/Linux environment, a WKL only kills it for me.It's QMK compatible, just reprogram to literally anything else lol.

Would love an update from OP since he is consistently active on GH.
Holy necro
How can the hotswap pcb design accommodate the per-row convex curving design of the SSK?switches may have to be placed with a wider vertical spacing than the standard 19.05mm to avoid the keycaps crowding. i don't think placing and removing the switches would be an issue since they taper to the top of the switch, and worse case scenario, each switch would have to be placed one after another in a column rather like slating the roof of a house.
