Plenty of folks would also consider getting a medal, for winning a competition, nonsense. Instead of punishing those who did well, these "folks" should focus on making sure that they can make it next time. We can't all be winners.

I sincerely recommend that you talk to a therapist about your concept of punishment, buddy
Nah I'm good. I'll just keep buying keebs instead of trying to come up with random arguments to make me feel better about not getting into a GB.
You're assuming that I've got some kind of beef about not getting into a FCFS GB, which is absolutely not the case;
I ain't assuming anything. None of my comments are directed to anyone in particular. Hence the regular use of "those".
I'm pretty new to this community and nothing has been quite what I wanted
Welcome
. It's always nice to have new faces around.
so I've never even tried to get into a FCFS GB (or a raffle for that matter)
I'm sure you'll eventually find something that tickles your fancy.
I literally only stated what each of those methods prioritized and gestured at the fact other members of this community feel differently from you about those methods
Great. It's always nice to have different opinions being voice. Hail to freedom of speech.
The literal concept of a limited sale already asserts your claim of "We can't all be winners" regardless of how that sale is conducted.
So we're in aggressive agreement.
You can't "do well" in a raffle; that's sort of the entire point. Therefore, you can't be punished for doing well.[/li][/list]
If the justification for running a raffle is that most people feel outlied than you'd be indeed punishing the ones that were "doing well", on the FCFS model, by being faster or smarter by using bots.
I never even tried to argue that I personally prefer raffles to FCFS;
Nor have I ever said that you did.
I live in a pretty decent timezone for most of this stuff, so I have the privilege to not be particularly affected by these things.
Great. Good luck (probably not the best expression given the context) when you do enter one
.
It sounds like you're in a similar boat, whether that is due to the timezone in which you live or the way you've structured your life;
I'm in a horrible timezone for most FCFS. They usually go live between 1am and 6am for me.
Other folks don't necessarily have the privileges we have, but I don't think their lack of those privileges means they shouldn't get the nice things we can get.
Neither do I. But complaining and blaming the model instead of adjusting yourself is recipe for endless frustration and long GH rants. Neither will get them pretty boards.
I think looking out for folks who have less privilege than yourself and listening to them when they feel like things are conducted in a way that is unfair to them is an important aspect of building and maintaining any community.
This is where we disagree. Fairness has nothing to do with it. Everyone has their own personal definition of fairness and it's a constant struggle that will never end. So instead of trying to reach this unachievable goal we should make sure that GB runners can do better at providing more boards then more people can have pretty boards on their desks.
