      Hey everybody, I wanted to get your feedback on a keycap set I recently thought up.
      I would love to hear everyone's opinion on the colors, profile, and novelty keys!

Mockup colours are not accurate, the pink and green are too dark, white is too bright.

Here is a rough colour-corrected one using photospectrometer scanned values from the colour ring samples:

Oh wow, thank you for the color corrections. I tried to use Deskthority's RGB codes but I'm also a complete novice at using image editing software so I guess I ended up mucking the colors.

Lol, no problem. I'm not a wizard with the editing programs either, just barely competent with the tools I use the most. The pink and green are pretty close, just the white is off a bit too much for my slightly neurotic and pedantic eye :) I used the "select by color" tool (with a low threshold, around 4 or so) and dropper tool (to select the colour from the chart) in GIMP to select the areas and replace the colours.

Here is an image of the DT wiki ABS colour chart with them all on one page in case you find it useful:

This could be a good candidate for a JT Keycaps Group Buy (Cherry profile doubleshots, the new company BunnyLake / Ctrl|Alt is using now: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=71630.0 ) if they have matching colours. I love SA profile, but I'm not sure about the colours matching the profile so well, as I see the SA profile as a more old-skool, classic, retro type of profile.

Or maybe GMK, but they may have a higher MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) and less colour options.

I kind of wanted an SA keycap set but I think this set would also look great in DCS/Cherry. Right now I do not have the resources to front an old-school groupbuy. GMK appears to have the colors but I've never had any experience dealing with them. I'd be surprised if JTKeycaps doesn't have plans for their next keycap set but if they were open to it, I'd definitely let them run with it. In any case, I'm still trying to gauge interest. I was thinking I might put up a google doc? Perhaps ask if people would purchase the keycaps, what they want to see improved, desired profile, kits, etc. Not sure yet.

Next on the to-do list:
Dvorak/Colemak
Improve numpad kit
color correct everything


Once again, please let me know if you see any issues with the kits I have right now. I have little experience with different keyboard layouts!

edit: Also, do we want everything left justified for DCS/Cherry?

Yeah centered on DCS looks fine. I think my fonts might be a little too thick/big. Will have to adjust that. Thanks for the color replacement instructions and the DT colors image Oobly. Will definitely come in handy for the future!

Hmmm I could do black alphas, but not really something I want to explore.

By the way, i believe the moulds that jt keycaps/gmk use are top right aligned, and it would cost a fortune to get them to produce new moulds, so unless that wound be ok with you, this keyset cannot translate to cherry profile

I'm fairly certain they're left aligned and I wouldn't ask for new molds, I would just adjust the design to fit.

The theme name was chosen because of the color way. Not vice versa, so no, the torii has no direct relation to dragonfruit.

Oh yeah, this is a pretty and delicious-looking set. I'm down!

EDIT: I think this set would look amazing in either SA or DSA with the centered legends, though I'm slightly leaning toward DSA for the low profile and ease of swapping keys around for different layouts.

Would it be possible to make a HHKB  layout? It's not necessary, but I'd definitely buy one if possible. I'd also be in for a 6u space bar add on, but I highly doubt there's enough demand for that either.

Is the HHKB layout supported at all by Tsangan? Sorry, not entirely sure on the bottom row for HHKBs. If there's demand, I'll definitely add it. Expect new updates soon with more bottom row noveltys as well as keyboard layout mock ups.

As far as sizing goes, tsangan would compensate for the HHKB layout in the bottom row as well as the 1.75u shift. The only key really missing from the set would be a 1.5u backspace key that replaces the |\ key, which gets pushed up to row 1 as a 1u, which seems to be in the ISO kit, though I'm not sure of its profile in ISO.

I'd also be interested in a 6u space bar, but I think that's a pretty unpopular sizing. XP In any case, great work with the colorways for this, it's a really catchy design. I also dug the concept for your lotus keycaps as well! I was surprised to find out they were both your designs. Pretty much some of the most attractive sets I've seen so far.  :thumb:

Glad you like my designs, definitely been spending too much of my summer messing around with these. I've actually been making a bunch but I'm afraid of flooding the forum with a bunch of stuff that won't ever get made. I'll see about adding a 1.5u backspace to the tsangan. A 6u space bar seems like a hard sell but perhaps Signature Plastics will offer it as a blank.

Just an update, the most popular profile appears to be Cherry/DCS. I think this is slightly skewed by the fact I have left GMK and JTK up as a potential producer but this will likely be produced by Signature Plastics. I have removed the preferred manufacturer options in the Google form and I'd be very grateful if you updated your forms!

In addition I have created some different ESC keys as well as novelty keys. Colors for the ESC keys are RDA, BDH, and YBP. The VAT ESC will still be standard but the RCR will be removed. Currently the plan is to choose one novelty key for the set that will be available in 1, 1.25, and 1.5u sizes in order to keep prices low.

Also, nearly everyone has selected the original RCR colors as their preferred colors, so I have removed the RCS voting option.

The cube novelty has currently been removed as it received the most mixed feedback.

If it's going to be done by SP, I'd go with SA profile. DCS profile is an okay shape (except I find the bottom row angle a bit too sharp), but they're thin and light. If it's going to be Cherry-like in profile I would definitely go with JTK or GMK. Just my own preferences, but I thought I'd throw them out there.

Just wondering though, in your Google survey, do you know what the approximate cost difference between 3 novelty keys (expensive) vs 1 novelty key (cheap) would be? -Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's $25 for a custom legend, split by the Groupbuy. So probably gonna go with 3 since it's not that much more.


Will update this soon! Just working on finishing moving. Looks like blue and yellow esc keys are gone. Purple is staying, pink is back by popular request, and legend for ESC key may change to a flower. Expect an update soon!
