Possible way to remove logo/screenings from keyboard?
« on: Tue, 14 December 2010, 15:38:58 »
I saw these two posts Google searching:
http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:6318
http://geekhack.org/archive/index.php/t-11945.html

I'm just a regular guy trying to decide between a Rosewill RK-9000 or DAS S Pro.  Regardless, I remember this article from awhile ago on how to remove logos from cell phones:

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-remove-Logos-from-your-PDA--cell-phone-wit/

And I'm pretty sure that it would work on our keyboards as well!

Going by my track record it'll be another year before I obtain the elusive SUGAR CUBES to try on my labrat Filco case in a related thread.

Skimming the Instructable, is there a reason why they must be cubes? If not I'll try it with granulated this weekend (already weary given that one guy's comment mentioning NOT FOR PLASTIC)

I removed labels and paint from almost everything using this when I was a kid.  Everything had some hideous checkerboard, camo or laser pattern on it in the 80's so this was very handy.  But I don't know what it will do to a keyboard.

I think it might work well for a removing a transfer from a plastic case, but removing anything from a painted case by any method is likely to end in tears.

So... anyone tried it yet?

At least this one wasn't only a question, like some recently. :-(

I clicked on the article tab on two occasions but still got rejected.

Looking again at the comment re: plastic, I think I'll not try this. And I don't have 12 cubes worth of granulated sugar in stock. As for baking soda? Never.
