Hey, sorry if this is not the place to ask about this, but I saw the post on the IC thread about ISO plates not being available for purchase. Is this the case for all vendors (including Europe)?

I’ve never had a plate custom built before. If I wanted to get an ISO plate based on the files that gondo has said will be open sourced, is it easy to do, and is there a particular recommended supplier (in the US)? Can it be done in the same sandblasted brass style as the original?

Just trying to figure everything out with <24 hours until the GB! Any tips appreciated.

Hey! I'm afraid no vendores will offer the ISO option yes. The files will be released once the boards ship.

As far as shops, in the US you can use Ponoko and 3D Labs. These are the ones I know and have used in the past, there might be others

My wallet is $600 lighter today haha. I can't wait to finally build it, and I think you guys should also explore making an R2 in the future.

I was in the queue for like 7 minutes before I got in. I think it might be a slower process? Not sure. Limited quantity never really feels great, no matter how you do it, but I can imagine that it would feel especially bad if you never even got to see the page. Better than crashing in checkout though. I left at around 11:13AM EST, so it should have let someone else in then

Bro that sucked ass. I'd rather be racing against bots than have to get in line in a "queue" at 11:00 on the dot and proceed to wait in line for *15 minutes* while Cannon Keys raffles my spot in line to people who joined the queue at like 11:05. Should have VPN'd into another region's GB maybe.

Just ordered one from ProtyTypist, and I am super happy now. This is officially my first GB :)

A small correction: in the description above, it is mentioned 438 pound is the price of the base kit (with tax), but in reality I got charged 441.7 pound instead. Not a big deal but just FYI. The shipping cost itself is 12.7 pound which I find it acceptable/cheap.

I just ordered from ProtoTypist and have no problem with the checkout, although it is significantly more expensive than the US price. With tax, it is 441.7 pound which more or less equal to $590 :(
At the same time, according to the website, they are limiting the order to Europe area at the moment.

By the way, I order Black/Red color scheme. Was hesitant between e-white/gold vs black/red, but eventually choose black/read

Yeah, the new system is exclusive to Cannon Keys for now. And yeah, I know the vendors are region-locked; that's why I made the jab about using a VPN, haha. Cannon Keys' new system turns every GB into 2 raffles and yet they are still saying it has "aspects of FCFS" or something. Basically, you have to enter a raffle to get the opportunity to pick what you want and add them to your cart. Then you enter a SECOND raffle to see whether you are allowed to go to the checkout and actually pay for your stuff. So, even if you do get lucky enough to get through the first raffle, someone else can get in AFTER you and add YOUR stuff to THEIR cart and then get through the second raffle queue before you do, and then you're left with nothing since the stuff you added to your cart was just sold to somebody else and you don't get the option to buy something that is still available either; you just get booted back to the first raffle queue, if it's still running. I didn't even get that far, however, and I just sat in the first raffle queue until the board was sold through. Rip.

I am in the US so I will have to wait until tomorrow to order from ProtoTypist. Probably will be gone at that time too. I'm glad to see this GB is a success and I'm fine not having one in the near future.

At a personal level, I am really not good at dealing with multiple cycles of being psychologically invested and then not being able to get one at the end. I don't even browse the ICs anymore because what's the point? This of course is not a complaint about any designer or vendor. Just that this hobby definitely takes some toll on my mental health.

On the page it specifically says that the first day sale is reserved for Europe and MESA. Do you have a proxy? I can VPN in but they probably will cancel my order seeing my address.

Ouch! I am sorry to hear that. I am new to this GB-stuff, but that does not sound right to me. That does not sound FCFS but more like "do you feel lucky tonight?" :(

Yeah, that's why I said it in jest and didn't actually try to do that this morning. No, I don't have any friends in the EU to ship it to were I to try that. I was just highlighting how the rest of the world outside the U.S. had a more pure FCFS format for their buys and was expressing my preference for that format. Raffle is fine, but Cannon Keys should just say straight up that it is a raffle, not "taking the best parts of FCFS and raffles." And also I feel that if a board IS going to be raffled, which I don't really have a problem with, then it should be a raffle in all regions, not a raffle in one region and FCFS in all others.

Just RE: the VAT for EU folks - as discussed in the IC, I know its a concern. There are still a lot of unknowns based on if there is or isn't a brexit deal. But there will be options to make sure VAT isn't paid twice. If there is a vehicle for me to reclaim the VAT I will refund it of course, and if not I'm investigating other options with my accountant - such as cancelling orders and customers re-buy after Jan under the new rules.

I'll be proactive about this and send out a news letter once everything is known regarding brexit and what the options are - but right now I have to follow the law and collect VAT (and pray for the UK's sake (and the EU's fishing folks) a deal is made)

Hi Jae, thank you for replying to my comment above. While I personally I have no problem with the difference (it is only £3.7), maybe you can take a look into your system? Here Gondo said it would be £438 incl tax but on your website it says £441.7 incl tax? What makes the £3.7 difference? (Again, Im not asking for a reimburse, just for my curiosity)

Thanks!

Agreed, I was stoked about this but couldn't get in. Hoping for a round 2 or extras.

I was able to get into the GB, but realized it would be great to have a wrist rest for this board. Will there be a wrist rest in the near future?

A TKL wrist rest will work perfectly with this board. It won't be visually the nicest, but it will be perfectly comfy (using a more "dented" TKL ergo with a 100% wrist rest).

Wow, it's sold out in ProtoTypist in less than a day! Crazy stuff. Thanks Gondo for making this for us. I feel there are a lot of interests so maybe a Sagittarius second run is something to think about?

Thank you, I'll look into those, but I was kind of hoping for aesthetic reasons, there would be a dedicated wrist rest like I have seen on many other ergo boards. Just in case there aren't any, do you know of any "dented" TKL wrist rests?

I think aesthetically, you'll probably fare better getting two rounded/curved mouse wristrests.
