(0)   TL;DR
Designed by GoPolar and manufactured by Gateron , the Vermilion Bird and Azure Dragon switches GB is opening now till 05/31/2021 .
Vermilion Bird = the red one = linear = https://elboard.store/collections/frontpage/products/vermilion-bird-switches
Azure Dragon = the purple one = tactile = https://elboard.store/collections/frontpage/products/azure-dragon-switches

The global shipping option is open at our store. GoPolar is contacting proxies in other area but nothing is confirmed yet. I will update once anything is confirmed.

(1)   Introduction
About the Names
Black Tortoise of the North, Azure Dragon of the East, Vermilion Bird of the South and White Tiger of the West “are four mythological creatures appearing among the Chinese constellations along the ecliptic and viewed as the guardians of the four cardinal directions” (Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Symbols).
This time we choose the bird and the dragon, and of course the tiger and the tortoise are coming soon!!

About the Switches
Please see the fact sheet below:

We are using a brand new mold for both switches, which is improved from Gateron KS-9. As for the stems, the linear variant uses a standard stem length, where as the tactile variant uses a prolonged stem (as shown below), and as a result, the tactile switch will hit the bottom earlier. Pictures for illustration below.
Left is the Linear stem (standard length), right is the tactile stem (prolonged)

The tactile switch will bottom out earlier due to the prolonged stem.

Also we intend to create a decent stock experience for the linear switch, so it comes pre-lubed; for the tactile one, we understand it's more subject to personal preference on issues like where to lube, so we decide not to pre-lube it.

(2)   Pricing
70x pack: $40.00 ($0.57 per switch)
90x pack: $50.00 ($0.56 per switch)
110x pack: $60.50 ($0.55 per switch)
Same for both Bird and Dragon. In-stock sales will be available later with higher prices.

(5)   Disclaimer
Like most other drops in this hobby, this is also a Group Buy, which is a sale method similar to a pre-order. Payments will be collected ahead of time, and there is often an extended timeline from the order date to when the product is shipped out, with these timelines ranging from a couple weeks to several months. I don’t have any reason to believe this will be delayed extensively and I will do my best to deliver on time, but hey, you know things can get fuzzy this time around.

(6)   Timeline and Updates
The estimated shipping time will be in 2 months after the GB concludes.

Is the tactile one the same as a Gateron Brown?

The concept is great, and they look nice. But, of course, that is just cosmetics, I'll wait for the review to see how they compare to other Gateron switches, specially the tactile one.

Can you antecipate what to expect from them and what was the "gap in the market" that these switches are trying to fill? Also, I've never heard of two-stage springs; how do they differ from regular springs in terms of feel (I can see how they differ visually), and are there any other switches in the market that use them?

Thanks for your interest! I'm counting on Shoobs to answer some of the questions in his upcoming vid. He is the pro lol. I will also try to add something based on my experience. We used a new mold which is improved from Gateron KS-9, and hopefully the sound and feel will also be improved. As for the two-stage springs, it will make the bottoming-out follows your finger more closely compared to standard springs. There might be others using this, but nothing comes to my mind atm.

Nice, but does the tactile bump at least sit in the middle of travel like a traditional tactile switch?

This is a graph in the fact sheet, which shows the precise point. And feel-wise, the bump is at similar position compared to other tactiles.

Nice review by Shoobs. The two stage spring is very interesting, and it gave me a lot of ideas for frankenswitches to try, the lighter actuation +  heavier bottom out + increased force on the upstroke is a very nice combo.

The low tactility aspect of the switch is not for me, but there is definitely a market for that. GLwGB!

Aside from materials, how does this compare to Gateron Limbos?

Vermilion birds will be opened for in-stock sales in a week or so, and the Azure dragons are still open for pre-orders.

I just received my Azure Dragons. They are very very similar to any Holy Panda clone: no pretravel, long bump, forced bottom out. I decided long ago that I was not a fan of this switch bandwagon. PM me if you're interested in buying mine.

Total bull**** force graph basically? That is sad to hear. Another top bump tactile is literally the last ****ing thing I would have liked to see.
