Blue is a very polarizing color, but it's not like purple isn't as off-beat.

Blue ftw!

Blue tries desperately to be valid and important as Purple BUT fails big time.

Let's see what Purple truly represents here;

  • Uplifts
  • Calms the mind and nerves
  • Offers a sense of spirituality
  • Encourages creativity
  • In Thailand, purple is worn by a widow mourning her husband’s death.
  • The purple in the U.S. military Purple Heart award represents courage. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the United States armed forces who have been wounded in action.
  • In Tibet, amethyst is considered to be sacred to Buddha and rosaries are often fashioned from it.
  • A man with the rank of Roman Emperor was referred to as “The Purple” — a name that came from the color of the robe he wore.
  • In Japan, the color purple signifies wealth and position.
  • Purple was the royal color of the Caesars.
  • In pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian form of egg dying, purple speaks of fasting, faith, patience, and trust.
  • Purple denotes virtue and faith in Egypt.
  • In Tudor Britain, violet was the color of mourning, as well as the color of religious fervor.
  • Traditionally, in Iran, purple is a color of what is to come. A sun or moon that looks purple during an eclipse is an omen of bloodshed within the year.
Mace Windu’s (Samuel L. Jackson’s) purple light-saber in Star Wars.   He was the first Jedi in the movie series that was allowed to break away from the traditional blue/green light-sabers that the Jedi Order were famous for in cinematography.
This colour alone denotes so many important emotions and status in nearly every society around the globe so this is why PURPLE rules in this real world as well as with the Keyboard Casing Universe.

PURPLE is indeed unique and very sacred hence it needs to be included within any Keyboard Casing Design on Geekhack.

exactly why i chose purp, great minds think alike ;)

As said before, working with a couple different factories, in the picture you can see a 7075 aluminium sample. I am not entirely pleased yet, so I will keep going after CNY with some other places that I know of. I will update you here.

That's sexy!

Edit, just fully read your post. What aren't you happy about with the samples that you've gotten so far??

So are the cases going to be milled out of 7075? I remember early on that you said you'd use 6061.

Sick.I like that the front isn't TOO high. That was something I disliked on the FMJ. Looking good, man!

Oh I see now that that's a giant slab of a palm rest, so it's taller than I thought, but you really can't get past that without affecting angle. It'll be nice either way. :3

I am just testing both, we are still in the prototyping stage. I haven't invoiced anyone yet, and won't do it before I have a clear plan for every material, and the factory we will use.

Hi!

We are still in the prototyping stage. I am testing 7075 and 6061 alloy aluminium, we will probably stick to 6061.
I am also looking at some different machining places, as I wasn't 100% happy with the last samples.

I will take my time before you are invoiced to assure that it will be a good end product. Nothing is yet confirmed.

It's typically hex, and alternatively torx, but I'd say hex most likely. Just a shot in the dark.

Why would having any type of screw head be an obstacle here?

Doesn't matter really, since you can always buy that particular screwdriver off Flebay or visit your local Bricks and Mortar outfit.

Hi.

I am currently in contact with 3 factories that might be able to do the job of producing this case. I have some great ideas, and a large wish list for what I want this case to be.

Like I have said before, I will definitly take my time before charging the deposit. Since it is CNY and two of the three factories are placed in the east, I will have to be patient on that front. Meanwhile I am in contact with the last, and least likely place at the moment.

The samples are good, but there are still some flaws that I think are easily avoidable, machining marks mainly.

The reason for doing the draw early was to have everyone with me on the journey on making the perfect case, if I have to drastically change manufacturing, I will have to adjust the colour options, plate options etc. We are not there yet though, so no need to worry just yet.

I take time to do this only because I haven't charged any money yet, I personally think it is best to do all the work that can be done, before charging the customers, atleast in this situation.

I will share everything here, and looking forward to update you very soon :)

Of course you do know who is on TOP of the picture?

Simply couldn't put it in words any clearer than the image displays exactly what colour life is like, the DOMINANT shall inherit the HIGH Ground in every moment because it's their destiny  8) .

I'll give you one thing, purple is the color of royalty. But just like the color purple is composed of blue (and another color that shall remain unnamed) the purple case wouldn't be able to reach those heights without the blue case. Blue stands for stability, reliability, trust and deep strength. Without these as your foundation you're going nowhere. So I'd prompt purple to remember where its roots are because you're going nowhere without a good base.

Trust a Bluey to say that  >:( .

Can't question your logic though, Purple would not exist without a TINY bit of Blue and I mean, a VERY small amount of it  ;) .

What's the appeal? Because it is a Military color? Or does it match color well with caps?

It's unimaginable how they created such a game in the 80s.
Dark green matches also golden orange.

Yes and yes. Also, it's just an amazing combo, my guitar is an emerald green with gold accents and I love it.

This one is sick. Easy to tempt one into getting an orange FJELL. Such a sick case all around.

Wow, that's amazing!  I agree, the orange on this really feels good... and I don't normally go for orange.

I feel like when you choose a colorful case, you need to let the case have the spotlight or it just gets overlooked.  Like the photo above from BunnyLake; It looks amazing.  However, the keycaps and the case are competing for attention.  Don't get me wrong, I'd take a purple one any day for my hpyerfuse, but the photo of the purple one with skidata works better.  More contrast and a simplier colorway on the keycaps just make it pop.

I think there's two trains of though on bright colorful cases. The one from Bunny accents the Hyperfuse really nicely and isn't supposed to take the spotlight. But if you put a more "plain" keyset on it, the case will take the attention. Just depends which one you're trying to accent.

It's weird, really. I think if a keyset is too bland on something that has striking color, then the overall aesthetic becomes too unbalanced. On the other hand, I think that a keyset that blends too much with the case can also not be dynamic enough.

For some reason, these colors worked so well on my Hammer Alps build:

I never would've thought blues would work like that against red, but they did and then the LEDs brought it all together. I guess sharing the colorway with the Realforce 10AE set is a plus.

Then you have things like this:

(Which I'm replacing with the  FJELL) Which might blend very well, but isn't really dynamic enough and kind of boring. I need to figure out how I'm gonna dress mine up before I'm certain on color.

With flashy colors, I think it's hard to find the right balance. I often find beiges to be boring against a colorful case.

These might look good on an orange case, but I dunno!

Decisions indeed.
