Looking forward this GB! I'm hoping to put some screw on zeal stabilizers and maybe some linear switches in this case. I have far too many tactile boards as is and I could use to mix things up a bit.

lemme tell you good sir

this is the perfect keyboard for linear switches

this case has provided one of the very best linear typing experiences i have ever had

And here's how most of us suckers who didn't get lucky feel after reading your post:

Every time I see a new post in here I'm thinking... OOH, here is my chance.  Someone is going to back out and there will be another small sliver of hope that I may get an FJELL

But, alas.  Someone just posting how excited they are about their upcoming build

Maybe I should unwatch this thread, but I'm too paranoid that I'll miss something  :p

I'm now confused.

Traditional thinking has been tray-mount for tactile and top-mount for linear.
But personal judgement of a veteran enthusiast should come first.

From my understanding leandren has no interest in limiting numbers to create some artificial rarity, but just so he can manage his time effectively within a new venture, I have no doubt there will be exciting announcements to come worth sticking around for

I mean for tactile I just go hhkb every time nowadays

For mx over the years of trying everything my personal preference is well selected vintage blacks with slightly lighter springs, and that really is my go to on almost any particularly heavy board, for me the choice between linear and tactile has no bearing on the mounting situation, but everything to do with the weight of the board, for my I enjoy linear on heavy boards and prefer a tactile switch on a lighter board

I got it: heavy case + linear

Oh wait, "... go HHKB every time nowadays..."

Please ask JT to create that single extra R1 1u \| backslash-tilde key so all of his sets will have full HHKB support.  :p

That is certainly a high priority on my list of requests good sir once we have fixed a few more on the legends

5 of which have been done this week

But enough of my boring stuff, it's nearly final edition fjell time, I panicked and changed my original options and switches to black case, brass weight brass plate, classy

I plan on using tactile creams in my board with the Eagle PCB I had previously installed in my FMJ case. Going to get a brass Alps plate made for it. I was going to either use tactile (NeXT) creams or linear creams, but definitely cream. :P

Blue won out over Dark Grey for me. I want to continue the lineage started with my bent case Infinity that I painted blue, and then the blue FMJ, and now a blue FJELL.

DG is very tempting though. *sigh*

True! I think cream will be a cool contrast though. Hmmm~ Yeah, I actually don't like rocking blues in 60% boards. I think larger cases do them more justice.

Definitely what was on my mind, that Dark Grey was looking nice. But the Blue is definitely what I fell in love with from the gate so I have to stick with that.

I'll keep watch on that HHKB version! Definitely something I could use for the project I currently have THIS version of the FJELL in mind for. The HHKB version might suit it even better because of the blockers to really go for that look.

Looking forward to any updates.  :thumb:

Something I just realized. I don't think any of the specs for the plate have been released yet. Do you know how it will be finished? Will it be color matches to the brass weight in the case itself?

I kinda just signed up for one without thinking.

The plate is Universal60, which is a universal 60% plate. It'll have support for PCB mounted stabilisers. The finish is yet to be decided, but I'll try my best to get a smooth finish. Function is number one priority though.

Hey! I was actually going to get my plate cut at a local shop. Brass plate of the correct thickness is rather cheap from hobby shops so it's actually not bad at all. I'm not sure if LeandreN was including custom Alps plates, but I had assumed that there would be no possibility for custom orders. D:

I assumed he doesn't offer it either, but having seen that you won also, I knew I'm not the only one on the lookout. :)

If you already know a good shop, I would gladly join you if you have no problem with shipping them (int'l), and if it makes it cheaper for you of course.

Otherwise I'm going to search for one here

Sure, I know the shop here can do it for sure. Let me know if you'd like to get a plate made through PM and we can arrange something unless you want to go local.

How 'cheap' is that going to cost over in your area?
For customized layout plate for Alps (chosen from the Alps plate repository), I know only Lasergist so far - so it's a SS plate at around $50 + shipping.
Have to explore more local options.

Lasergist is generally on the more expensive side of things (at least that I've found). They are very convenient for small runs (single plates or perhaps a couple plates), and they have a lot of available surface finishing options. If cost is of utmost importance, try and find local sheet metal fabs to you, I did a small runs of different sized plates last year at a local company, and the costs came down to about 15 quid per 60% sized plate  and a bit more for TKL sized (shipping not withstanding), so that's like 20 dollars per or thereabouts.
