Sorry that I am quite a bit late. I was in holidays and had no possibilitys to answer.
Is it still possible to order one pcb?
Would it be possible that you pre-solder the pcb for me? (I am really unexperienced at soldering all those small parts, and would really prefer getting a full pre-soldered pcb (soldering in switches works (usually :'( )
Winter is coming.

You're in the list of orders, IIRC. Also I'm somewhat sure that these PCB only require switches to be soldered on, no diodes etc.(see jdcarpes post below)

As many through hole 1N4148 diodes as you have switches, and the Teensy++ 2.0 will need to be soldered on, but those aren't difficult.

Diodes and Teensy need to be purchased separately right?

From my understanding of the OP, that is correct. We are getting a bare PCB only.

This group buy is for a bare PCB only. It is designed to be as simple as possible to solder and assemble, with 100% through-hole components.  Setting aside a case, the following items need to be added to make it functional:

  • QTY 1 Teensy++ 2.0 Controller (PJRC P/N TEENSY++_PINS, $27.00 each)
  • QTY 122-150  1N4148 Diodes (Mouser P/N 512-1N4148, $0.019 each. Qty 150=$2.85)
  • QTY 122-150 Cherry PCB-Mount MX Key Switches (e.g. Mouser P/N 540-MX1A-11NW, $0.647 each. Qty 150=$97.05)*
  • OPTIONAL QTY 3 Indicator LEDs (e.g. Mouser P/N C503B-GCN-CY0C0792, $0.24 each. QTY 3=$0.72)**
  • OPTIONAL QTY 3 Resistors for LEDs (e.g. Mouser P/N C503B-GCN-CY0C0792, $0.12 each. QTY 3=$0.36)**
  • STABILIZERS to suit your layout and preferences.  I like Cherry PCB-mount stabilizers, other people like plate-mount stabilizers from Cherry or Costar.  These are not expensive, but are sometimes hard to find.

* This is just an example of the switches you might want to use.  There are other types and better prices.  TechKeys.us has MX-compatible switches for as low as $0.30 each, or $45.00 total for qty=150.
** Another example.  See the LED series/parallel array wizard to determine the correct resistor for your preferred LEDs.

I suggest buying extra diodes, resistors and LEDs because they are cheap, and if you mess some up, you can just replace them with new.  The silkscreen on the back side of the board shows where everything goes AND the direction of the Teensy and all the diodes.

This should be an easy build.  Lots of room, that's for sure.

Here is a saved shopping cart at Mouser.com:

I'm thinking I want to use these LEDs in my board, one each red, green, and blue for the 3 Lock indicators.  The legs are 2.54mm apart so I should be OK for fitment, right?

I noticed the green is about twice as bright as the other two, but I should able to knock that down with the right resistor.  It's 20mA and 1.9-2.2Vf so I'm guessing 300 Ohms is about the right range?  Somebody help me out here, I'm terrible with these LED resistor calculations.   :-[

Use the LED wizard I put in my parts list post.  The Teensy is 5v.  Each circuit has a single LED.  And those LEDs probably do not all have the same electrical values.  Pin separation of 2.54mm (0.10") is fine.

Original cherry switches are only $0.50/switch if buying at least 100 and who buys less that?  ;D

Of course cherry mx compatible ones are even cheaper.

Nah, look again.  They have pretty good quantity discounts.  I paid $97 for 170 switches.

I did.  It told me to use a 150 Ohm resistor for the green (I understand they have different voltages).  But I want to reduce the luminosity of the green LED by half (from 2000 to 1000mcd) to match the other two, so I guestimated that to 300 Ohms but I have no idea if it's a linear calculation or not.  That's why I asked.

Didn't catch this when you posted it. Cute.

Unfortunately I had a boss at work that did this. We bought some 150 computers, and no one was allowed to deploy them because he didn't like it when people were responsible for making decisions like turning on a machine or logging into windows.

Nineteen months later, there was enough pressure from higher ups to just put them out there, that he finally ... made a seven page checklist that had to be completed and signed each time a computer was deployed. He kept copies of them, and we kept the originals.

It was not so cute.

So, back on topic ... it's been a week; they should be [nearly] there, right...?

The good news, bug #1, and how to watch testing in real time.

The Good News:

It fits into the Unicomp PC-122 Case!  Yay!

Bug #1:
The pads for the ISO Enter are 0.094" offset to the left.  I've already fixed this for any next run AND it can be fixed for these boards.  ANSI is fine, but the fix to this rev is a one-way street, and once modded for ISO, ANSI will be a problem.

Once I mod mine for ISO Enter, I'll mod anyone else's as desired.

Follow Testing in Real Time:
I'll be posting photos to Instagram way more often than here, so follow me there if you want to watch in real time:

Nice lookin PCB!

Thanks!

heya, just wondering if it would be possible to change my shipping address?
or are they in the mail already?

I am going to test the PCB first anyhow. Then I will ask everyone to verify their shipping address, so you are in good shape.

Tap Plastics and Acrylic cement.  Very much helps with keeping track of 50 diodes -- and their polarity -- at a time.

Does the pcb fits Model M-122 Case?

Yes, I believe the M-122 is in fact the same as a Unicomp PC-122 case.  (Oddly enough, I don't seem to have an actual IBM-branded M-122 keyboard.)

Has there been any direction towards a consensus about plates?

I'm worried that the board will flex terribly, especially if it's in something like a Unicomp case.  G80-8200s are pretty saggy without plates, and they look like 60% boards by comparison to this.

The MX Reds are on the board just for testing.  I will remove them later, so they are red for visibility.  As to the rest...

Think of it an MX Brown keyboard with the Cherry-specified MX Green spacebar switch.  (MX Green and Gray are supposed to be a spacebar switches.) To fill all eleventy-seven F-keys and modifiers, I used MX Black switches, of which I have a surplus.  Then I used a few more MX Greens for the arrow keys to ensure I can find them when under attack by zombies or whatever.

Testing Update
Typed on the test sample GH-122.2016

So, here is an update for the people who want their GH-122 PCBs.  The board looks good, and I have found no wiring problems, but the ISO Enter switch that is also the ANSI \| switch is 0.094" too far to the left.  I can and will stretch those holes prior to shipment, but I want to do my own first.  Also, it is important to know that since moving the ISO Enter means moving the stabilizer holes, that is kind of a one-way deal.  So anyone who wants to have an ISO Enter key on THIS round of the PCBs needs to be certain.

On the firmware side, I have been working with metalliqaz to get a version that works properly with this giant matrix.  We've been bouncing changes back and forth, and this update is being typed using the GH-122.2016 with an experimental version of Easy Keymap.  Since Monday, we've gone from massive problems to a few remaining issues.  I'm confident they'll be sorted soon enough, as this is the third board he and I have debugged in this manner.  However, I do want to get the firmware to 100% so I know the hardware is there as well.  But if you are planning to use another source for firmware, then I am perfectly willing to ship your board before I get mine working.

On the case side, I haven't done much there, but I am making a "Swill case" for this test board.  I have the rubber pad in place now, and the under-plate is on order.  More on that when I have more to show.

Finally, WASD Keyboards has agreed to make custom keycap sets for us for only $60 for 122-140 keycaps to your design.  These are OEM height ABS keys with a very nice full-color legend under a clear coat.  I use them for all of my one-offs and odd-size keyboards, and there was a beautiful album cover set I made for a Secret Santa present a year or so ago.  Anyhow, I will get a set made and post pics so individuals can decide.  (Please keep religious discussions about keycap plastic out of THIS thread.)

Anyhow, there were a few problem with typing up the note above, but nothing terrible.

Also, one of my goals for this keyboard was to have all of the functionality of an F-122 with a brain transplant in a quieter Cherry MX form.  In this goal at least the test prototype with mostly MX Brown has suceeded.

More when I have more,
