Hey gang, since Massdrop took over geekhack, we have done our very best to limit the changes we have made to geekhack when it comes to any possible user impact. However, we have noticed that with taking over the mail that sometimes the mail coming from the website gets delayed due to the rate of emails being sent through Google's mail service.

With that being said, on Friday, August 31, 2018, we will be migrating the email user/domain that emails the geekhack community from webmaster@geekhack.org to webmaster@n.geekhack.org. The reason for this change is so we can deliver email as soon as it is generated and not possibly leave it stuck in queue for a little time while Google throttles us.

We are posting this so the geekhack community at large, hopefully has enough time to update their email forward or spam rules they may have in place to ensure they get their geekhack emails. We definitely don't want the community to feel any disruptions when it comes to email, and we figured this was the best course of action to remedy the situation.

As a side note; this does not impact any one who may happen to have an @geekhack.org email address which forwards to their own personal email address. Those accounts will not be changing and will continue to work as expected. Also; no we aren't giving out those email addresses anymore, they're an artifact from long ago.

TL;DR, emails sent by geekhack are going to come from @n.geekhack.org instead of @geekhack.org, the change is for back-end performance gains, change your email filtering rules accordingly.

While we don't have an exact timeframe for this, I wanted to let you all know that we will begin this shortly... We don't really expect any significant impact to email at this point, beyond what we already feel with the delay, and we will update this thread once we have completed this.
