They don't make alot of sense since bit-perfect is meaningless when it comes to digital. There's so much processing on the TV side, dedicated players make little difference.

My $19.95 CD/DVD drives from 10 years ago from MicroCenter are still working fine, although they are seeing little use these days.

If you still only running 8-12 cores per ccd, Just turbon' the whole damn thing will still give you best 1% lows.
