An increasing number of the pointless "I want you in my bed" spam e-mails are now mentioning my sister's name which makes them slightly uncomfortable to skim past as well as annoying.

I'm attempting to tone down my enthusiasm for this new developer fsf/open source world I've stumbled into has been a bit of a challenge.

If I would have started at 15 when I learned of C/C++ I would be tempered by now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Drain flies. Mother******* drain flies, everywhere I look. Office says there's nothing they can do about it--problem's in the sewer, apparently. Good news is the office explicitly has said we're not at fault (we're not, this is a plumbing issue, not hygiene). Also, despite what these things feed on, they're not vectors of disease, so that's good. They suggested we pour a mixture of bleach and apple cider vinegar down the drain a few times a week, try to flush the drain out. Ugh....

The Google office I worked in had this issue and they didn't do **** about it either, claiming they were working on it as it persisted and grew worse over the months. You know it's bad when you have to swat drain flies off your **** whenever you go to pee

Sad thing is there isn't really much you can do. The flies themselves are extremely annoying, but they quite shockingly don't spread disease. And killing/trapping the flies accomplishes nothing, because they're not breeding in the residence--they're breeding in the pipes and sewers, where gunk always builds up over time. The larvae feed on the bacteria in those pipes, which is why it's amazing they don't spread disease. They are however insanely hard to kill. You can't drown them, bleach and draino won't even kill them, and your only option is to thoroughly clean and decontaminate your entire pipe system (and sewer/septic tank) with lots of chemicals and a cleaning brush. Our entire building--which is about 100 apartments--has the **** things, which likely means the problem is in the freaking sewer. Which is the city's problem, and well, our lovely little section of the Kansas City area is CHEAP. They won't even repave our road--which is littered with cracks and potholes--and our apartment complex has to plow it themselves because the city refuses to do so. So yeah, this problem isn't going to go away any time soon.

Get to know the dude, i'm sure if you slip him a couple xtra bux, he'd bring you alcohol as a side service.

Hey, tell that to your drug dealer pals, maybe this is the new career path for them.

Postmates sent me a sizable credit apologizing for the last two orders they completely ****ed up or couldn't deliver so I decided to give them one last shot at redemption to just make a simple food delivery. Purposely choosing something nearby, easy to get, and uncomplicated JUST to use the credit I'd been given, and guess what. Postmates STILL managed to completely **** the order up and canceling it last minute.

Hands down by far THE WORST delivery/courier service I have ever had the displeasure of using.

After weeks off work crippled doing nothing I've just been signed fully fit and told that yes pretty much everything will hurt (I'm talking stupid things like tying shoe laces) because I'm now a weakling.  I could deal with this a lot better if two weeks ago I hadn't been told there wasn't any sign of muscle wastage, especially as since then I've been using the muscles where before I hadn't.

Muscle wastage is crazy fast..

I remember not using my wrist much for only 2 weeks, and afterwards I had trouble with a screwdriver.

I was recently (June - Early August) non-weight bearing due to a massive infection and the necessary cleanup/recovery.  When I was cleared to walk again, I was weak, and my balance was ****e.  Worst thing (at least for me) was doing the two small steps into my house from the garage.  Bleh.

I don't share this story for any other reason than to tell you that the initial week after being cleared for activity is rough and things will hurt.  It will get better as time goes on.  At least in my case, I found that a persistent desire to do a little bit more every opportunity I could helped me both physically and mentally as those wins were visible progress.  I also learned not to rush things by making giant leaps (haha given context) in terms of trying new things too quickly.  Eye of the tiger, eye of the mf'ing tiger.  [/tonyrobbins]

Why is it always the little things?  Tasks I've done at work with minimal pain: lifting ~30kg metal bars above waist height and moving heavy things with wheels.  Tasks that hurt like hell: tying boot laces and putting on rubber gloves :blank:

I've always denied the medicinal(?) qualities of exercise but having had less than ever I must admit to being wrong.  I'm now wondering whether I actually liked my new job before being off or if I actually 'enjoyed' the commute and the job was just what happened at the other end.  I certainly don't like driving and as I've been advised against offroad cycling until Christmas there's plenty of that to come, with added traffic because it's 'cold' (very rarely would anyone who comes from somewhere with proper weather agree) and wet.

Glad you both recovered anyway :thumb:

The recent Diablo Eternal thing, as if Blizzard fans felt like they deserved something other than what was shown. They are lucky to get anything out of developers soon with a display like that, it's a mobile game who ****ing CARES. Blizzard already said they decided against showing D4 this year because they felt it wasn't ready yet. Calm the **** down, unclench your little pussies, and just wait a year instead of *****ing and crying as if you deserve Diablo 4 now.

I'm kinda worried about my fondness for warm Jägermeister. I've tried it before when a roomate offered a freezer chilled shot--I thought it flavorless at the time (bar shots/drinks excluded of course).

100% more flavor at room temp imho

No, soju is korean vodka.. tasteless.

Baijiu tastes like Diesel Fuel..

And you're suppose to drink it room-temp, to savor the "Dieselness"

I've been editing .c files for QMK in Notepad for a couple months now, finally decided to see what Sublime Text was like since they recommend it and now I'm realizing I'm a complete and utter moron for not checking it out sooner. :/

An ex classmate posted a video of him from the shooting range and that made me realise I miss guns :(
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I just want to be a narcissist again. But I can't because life happened to me.
