Apparently if you put your address information into the account it changes the shipping charge. I'm in the US, and when I put my address in, it went from $11 to $18...
They are fixing the check out in this moment. Sorry guys a few hiccups are understood in a new system.

Im wondering just how many we can get to join this because i don't know about you guys but i got 203$ in my basket, hoping that at least drops $50-70, But this set so great, and even though there is not a ergodox kit, WA and RA pops up a lot on their blanks inventory. This set is so awesome, Robotech/Macross was big in my childhood.

Is there any ways to order blanks ? One great thing about DSA is that every key has the same profile (so even us French/German/etc can enjoy it providing there's an ISO kit like in this GB), but unfortunately the various symbols never correspond to eu layouts ('cept maybe for the UK I guess).
I'd love to buy one if I could get blanks...but I guess I should have said this on the IC. :-[

I'm new to this GB business so I need some advice. Would buying Skull Squadron Base Set and Skull Squadron ISO kit be enough to cover what my ISO Ducky Mini would need?

Let's see if Matt can get SP to fix the issues with check out. Also it would be very important to clarify some legitimate questions as: Will SP system allow to cancel or alter orders?
While I think to ask this question is legitimate, I also think that interested parties should commit to buy at the moment they have decided to participate in the GB at the current price. Otherwise, the GB does not make any sense.

I don't think it has anything to do with the amazon side, it looks like SP is sending malformed data to amazon. There's no spot for a phone number in your profile on the SP website, I'm guessing that they're missing that variable when passing the data to amazon, but it is required. That might not be the only problem though.
I chimed SP, again :) it seems they are going to reply directly in this thread.

Hey guys Matteo asked me to fill in some blanks about our new site. Thanks for your patience - we are still working out the coding bugs and hope to have everything operational shortly! We will be updating the 'how it works' section and FAQ's to answer some of these, but for specifics:
Payments are made with a credit card - we are using Amazon's payment processor, but you don't need an Amazon account, just a valid credit card. Sadly Amazon does not take PayPal.
Once you check out and the countdown clock is still active, you can cancel your order - note though that if you do cancel your order, you will affect the number of sets purchased and possibly the price threshold. HOWEVER, once the group buy closes (when the countdown clock runs out), sales are final. At this point, you will be charged the lowest set price. Credit cards will only be charged once the group buy closes.
Group buys do have minimums to reach and each group buy will be different - in this case, the minimum will be 15 sets. IF the minimum is not met, the group buy won't be produced and no one will be charged - make sense?
For shipments, we will be sending packages all over the world (except the 6 embargoed countries). At this point, the main set will have a flat rate and then corresponding subsets will have a small adder. Shipments will be sent from Custer, Washington via USPS - Flat rate for US is $7 and Flat rate for international is $26.50 (not including the additional charge per set - ex. the numpad set will cost an additional $2.50 for shipping).
Lead time - I know this hasn't been asked, but I thought I would mention it. We will begin production of the group buy once the countdown clock is complete - our standard lead time is 4 weeks, so you can expect to see shipping/tracking numbers 4-5 weeks after the group buy closes.
Please please bear with us as we work the kinks out - nothing seems to run smoothly right out of the gate, though we can all dream it will. Don't hesitate to ask me if have any questions!

Just a FYI, Massdrop.com has a group buy system using paypal and it works great. when you commit to group buy it puts the current price into paypal as "authorized to charge x amount" in your account activity but doesn't do the final pulling of funds until the group guy is over. when the group buy is over and the price has lowered only the lowered price is charged to your paypal account in the end without the buyer having to do anything. no invoicing required and this is system inside of paypal.

I'm repeating here what I've said on the midnight thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=52684.msg1219885#msg1219885).
At 50 tier (which is pretty low) we pay the base set + additional mods $106 and it includes a hell lot of keys AND 8 custom legends. For a comparison a set like rain drop costs $90 with far less keys and no additional legends (the custom legends were already done).
So it seems to me that there are advantages in this system. I'm a bit surprised about all the bitterness, the GB organized by forum members are based on one person's good will, it seems that this good will and all the hassle of managing a GB by a forum member is given for understood.
As an end user (and an international buyer) I'm not happy about this first iteration of SP system, but do I have alternatives? I cannot manage the GB myself because I live in EU, shipping from SP and taxes would make the set even more expensive. This is not a $200K GB like round5, with those big figures you can afford to make it happen from anywhere, but with small numbers there's little I can do.
If anyone in US is willing to take care of the Midnight set privately I'm more than happy to pass the baton.

What is the color code for the white plastic that will be used for the set?
WFK is the whiter white. WA is just a pinch off-white.
I would also pick a very dark black instead of pure black, but that depends on availability. The darkest grey is lightly bluish, I don't like it.
I believe that being SP involved directly people is more cautious at placing an order. That is good, imho :) I suspect we will see an increase of orders towards the end of the GB.
Also, I have good news for international orders, it seems SP has finally found cheaper shipping solution. We will probably hear from them next week about it!

okay guys, please don't start this crusade.
First of all. The GB is not run by SP, they did not chose the colors, they did not run the IC, they did not chose the keys per each set, they did not make the mock-ups, they did not designed the custom keys. And most importantly the organized (me) is not making money out of it. It's not a service like MassDrop. MassDrop is in charge the whole process.
SP is simply offering the group buy platform/service, instead of using my own software (like I did for DSA Retro) I'm using their system.
That being said. I agree that we are in a kind of grey area here but being this the FIRST group buy organized with this system I hope everyone agrees that it's a good thing that it receives a good coverage. From this moment on anyone (not just me) is able to run a GB for keycaps and at the best possible price possible being SP also the manufacturer.

Just to be clear: I agree with the decision of putting this on a subforum, I just don't agree with "conducted entirely by Signature Plastics" because I spent a hell lot of time on this thing and I'm not a SP employee! :P

YES it would if you stuck to the old ways young Matt, but you went all 'modernish' with this new ordering system and that is why people are scared of it :-\ .

Because this is the absolute FIRST time SP is now sorting and shipping these orders, there is room for extreme doubt that they could indeed pull this off. You keep forgetting how simple orders are sent to them and they stuff up the manufacture of these orders. Hence if they have trouble interpreting specifications from customers in making key-sets who wants to bet they will drop the ball on sorting and shipping?
So far Mashby has done an excellent job with the Commando Key-set in sorting and shipping and SP won't be anywhere as decent as his efforts. Plus at SP they'll be employing people for the lowest wage possible to sort all the key-set orders, I know I wouldn't give a toss about amounts when I'm paid less than $2.00USD an hour.

1) a big company is involved directly. people feel that the order is final right from the start. remember that in standard GB you have a 10% that does not fullfill. Ordering on google-groups is simply less binding

Nope. The iso kits are great at fixing the large enter key and missing <> key, but the Q and W not being in the same row are harder to fix...
It's a shame us europeans don't get to buy PBT sets or even DS good looking sets. Even with the ISO set, my symbols on the number row aren't going to be right with this set :( . I think my next keyboard is gonna be ANSI lol.

I guess the main problem is not the set itself, but the fact that this is a first time thing for SP.
People might be hesitant to join, just because they are not familiar with the process. I assume many people want to wait and see how the first GB works out and see how SP fixes possible problems like missing keys etc.
Maybe you should do a one-time promotion thing like 50% off for every set for this GB only.
People will join just because it's such a good deal and they would feel they missed something if they didn't. This would be a good stress test for you as well. I know this would mean you wouldn't make a profit from this set, but I guess some kind of promotion is needed to give this new business model some momentum.
$63 to $44 is a pretty nice drop. If it was DCS, I would buy without hesitation. :/

Yeah I hope so too. 8 days left on this Group Buy and it's either going to be tight or the numbers fall through.
The postal system in certain countries are very specific about addressing and they won't guess where to send a package (it doesn't exist). They would sit on any package for months and eventually it will be sent back to the sender to re-send the package due to the addressing failure. That's how Australia Post functions under current International Standards regarding shipping/delivery.

Since there are only a handful of international orders I am convinced SP will check all of them manually anyway...

We thought about that but it won't work because paypal needs us to submit the state in a very specific format. If people were typing different version, for example WA instead of Washington than Paypal would reject the payment.
With that said, we literally just pushed an update that fixes this problem. It has states for all the countries that paypal requires, and offers the text box option for those countries that paypal doesn't require.
BTW Australia states are included in the list now. I'm hoping that means we'll see an order from you too Elrick. :D ;D

I believe $15 is per "base set". If you order two base sets you pay $15 each ($30 that is less than 1 medium box). With 3 base sets you get a medium box hence the $50 (note, this is just my guessing).
I don't understand why you say that's just for you. Anyone with more than 1 base set gets that pricing. It might be unfair, but I just received a keyset from SP and in the small box you really can't fit more than 1 base set and a few extras.

Just make sure the NEW Grey is a little more cool in tone but not completely grey in colour. It has to be a little lighter in tone compared to a BLACK but not completely light so that it loses it's intensity on the keyboard.

It's actually two entirely different websites. It has to do with how we are handling payments on the GB site, we authorize the payments but dont actually charge until the GB ends. Because of this we can't allow people to mingle carts with items they are purchasing from the keyshop. We understand this is a little confusing and are working on making it more intuitive. However you do have to have an account for both stores. Sorry for the confusion.

Nothing worse than some people missing out on paying the lower amount than what was originally posted. Unless I got it all wrong here.......?
It's actually two entirely different websites. It has to do with how we are handling payments on the GB site, we authorize the payments but dont actually charge until the GB ends. Because of this we can't allow people to mingle carts with items they are purchasing from the keyshop. We understand this is a little confusing and are working on making it more intuitive. However you do have to have an account for both stores. Sorry for the confusion.

I checked again my account and for the amount I bought I expected to be gaped by at least $400USD but it came in at a little over $300. I don't know why you lot spend penny's on a single key-set, you might as well not bother at all.....
incidentally I never bought anything other than Matt3o's designed key-set because I only wanted it and nothing else. How I wish Matt3o didn't go with them :( .

Why do you keep saying sp has decided to scam? Unless you have evidence to back your claim, I suggest you to keep out of the thread. If you have a complain related with this GB please provide the proper evidence. If you are referring to a different matter get in touch with the company directly. This is not the place to start a rumor.
yeah this is what i have been saying right from the start. separating this into a standalone SP subsection is gonna hurt the exposure. it's a COMMUNITY GROUP BUY, designed by matt3o only using SP platform for ordering. i still think that the separation is BS and unfair and a double standard is being used here.

This was actually a group buy with price tiers just with payment collected by SP and shipping conducted by SP. Feng and Imsto and some other sellers don't even have price tiers in their buys and they are not forced to exclusivity in their vendor forums...... Is this just mod enforcement or what? Granted I missed the sale by less than 12 hours I think and SP told me I couldn't jump on board so I'm not entirely thrilled with them either.
Beyond rules and all that, I'd say that if you are interested in something to happen you can always help somehow. You can add a link in your signature to allow people to know about the offer. You can also share the finding with others. It is just a matter of advertizing. Instead of expend my energy complaining I'd prefer to do what it is within my reach.

Makes sense, but couldn't it have at least kept the original outline/features (aside from the fine cracks) instead of being replaced with something completely generic?

got to get this out of my head and i mean no disrespect or malice towards popular geekhack group buy organizers but i feel this pretty much proved that pimpmykeyboard is not only a legit way but maybe even a superior way to run a signature plastics group buy. It was so quick and clean due to no middle man distributor and Matt3o was able to get a very unique color scheme produced. There was some bumps in the beginning but they are being smoothed out with granite. I'm wondering though if we will ever see geekhack cherry legends on pimpmykeyboard but that is a whole other discussion for another day.

Maybe SP should look at finding a distributor in Europe. As in, someone who can receive all packages destined for the EU, pay the import duties in bulk, and then forward them to the respective customers. I don't expect it to be any cheaper, but customs should be easier (and maybe faster) to deal with in bulk.

yeah i have those filco sphericals too, but the went into the box in favor of the macross :)

I was gonna pick up an extra set about two weeks ago but they sold out overnight or something. 22 left then POOF not on the site.

On their website, anything that gets posted in the PimpMyKeyboard Store section it will disappear immediately, hence you have to JUMP on it quickly because they will sell out fast.
If you hesitate, all you are doing is allowing another Geekhacker to climb over you to get at that prize ;) .

Same here, only another day to go before it ends. Couldn't resist the exclusive Matt3o design even on my ancient foe the DCS. It was chosen for my nephew who's crazy about Matt's designs and want's his key-set all over his Razer Keyboard.

My wallet is so use to Matt3o's golden touch when it comes to devising new key-sets, I just let it be ;D . It's like sharing your wife with a good friend, which is always doable.

I would get all 3 of them. Simply because it's all SA and that's always good no matter what. If Matt could launch all three of these babies that would be heaven, getting gangbanged by Retro, Skull and Midnight has been my dream for at least a year now 8) .
