Assume 50 tier

2x Base Set = $126
2x shipping = $53
2x VAT = $39,4
2x custom fees = $8
Total = $226,4
ship+Vat+cust, fees = 44,3% of total

base+additional mods+numpad = $104
shipping = $31,5
VAT = $14
custom fees = $4
Total = $153,5
ship+Vat+cust, fees = 32,2% of total
IF mods and numpad reaches 50 tier...

shipping without tracking?

Shipments will be sent from Custer, Washington via USPS - Flat rate for US is $7 and Flat rate for international is $26.50 (not including the additional charge per set - ex. the numpad set will cost an additional $2.50 for shipping).

Ehhh, what? how can that be true, is it with insurance? and if so, can we opt to not pay for that?
Sorry, but that is just killing it for me.

International shipping cost is just insane. I will ask a brother who is living in Houston to serve as a proxy. Now that I am living overseas. Geee.

We should probably start a new thread about SP's groupbuy system.

It would be interesting to see prices if the base set would be splitted in Alpha+Mods

This is why I'll probably skip this GB and save my money for Bunnylake's upcoming GMK sets that will cost me half as much due to reasonable shipping costs and no VAT :(

I'm repeating here what I've said on the midnight thread.

At 50 tier (which is pretty low) we pay the base set + additional mods $106 and it includes a hell lot of keys AND 8 custom legends. For a comparison a set like rain drop costs $90 with far less keys and no additional legends (the custom legends were already done).

So it seems to me that there are advantages in this system. I'm a bit surprised about all the bitterness, the GB organized by forum members are based on one person's good will, it seems that this good will and all the hassle of managing a GB by a forum member is given for understood.

As an end user (and an international buyer) I'm not happy about this first iteration of SP system, but do I have alternatives? I cannot manage the GB myself because I live in EU, shipping from SP and taxes would make the set even more expensive. This is not a $200K GB like round5, with those big figures you can afford to make it happen from anywhere, but with small numbers there's little I can do.

If anyone in US is willing to take care of the Midnight set privately I'm more than happy to pass the baton.

I answered you already in the Midnight Set thread, but I'll say again here anyway. There is no bitterness concerning the set or the prices for the keys themselves.

It's the huge shipping and tax costs that are keeping international buyers away.

One example: IvanIvanovich sent me 4 x104 key PBT dyesub sets, his GMK purple mod set, the GMK Esc set and the GMK CMYK mods for ~25$ total. The box said all this stuff is worth 20$ so I didn't have to pay any taxes (not legal I know...).

With SP's GB system I am looking at 50+$ of costs for a single TKL set!! I can't even combine shipping! So if I want to buy your Midnight set and the Macross set I am looking at ~100$ of extra costs which is just not worth it anymore.

Again, this is not your fault and I am appreciating all your hard work. I just want to express why I (and many others) probably won't join and therefore won't help reach better price tiers.

Sorry, I was not clear.

I'm not saying that there aren't a lot of expenses. Just that the price is very good and we have no alternatives (since I'm in EU and I cannot manage the GB from here). To have this kind of set (with presumably a low order count) this is the only option I had, if there's someone willing to handle the GB privately I'm more than happy to give the whole thing to him.

I don't think there's anyone blaming you for this choice and after all a new system always need time to get used to it.
I'm sure you can reach your goal with all the conus buyers.  :thumb:

This a really exciting time for this community with GMK and SP stepping up their game. I'm going to have to think of a reasonable way to buy these caps, and think about how much I really want this set. I'm not in the US, so I'm taking on a bunch of extra costs. It's a great development nonetheless.

Right now the system is set up to charge a rate per item - I am working to see if I can change that. A Medium Flat Rate box is actually $61...

Dear SPLady. If you have been reading the thread, right now the main issue preventing this GB to unleash the purchasing power of the community is the shipping cost per item, and the high international shipping cost. It is very important for SP to understand that charging more than 50 dollars for a couple of small boxes with ~100 dollars worth of plastic caps does not make sense. The shipping cost shall not be 50% of the items value. Please check the way the system will manage the shipping costs.

The "J" legend is taller than all the other legends. Is that just a artifact of the mockup, or will that be present in the actual set?

According with Matt comment, the color of the white caps will be the top left one (WA).

The other colors are:

The ABS color codes are: - WHITE: WA - BLACK: NN - YELLOW: YCF - RED: RA - See more at: http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/deals/skull-squadron-additional-mods/#sthash.1p0aHtf4.dpuf

WFK is the whiter white. WA is just a pinch off-white.

I would also pick a very dark black instead of pure black, but that depends on availability. The darkest grey is lightly bluish, I don't like it.

I really like WA as the base color. WFK seems to me a little too white.

I believe that being SP involved directly people is more cautious at placing an order. That is good, imho :) I suspect we will see an increase of orders towards the end of the GB.

Also, I have good news for international orders, it seems SP has finally found cheaper shipping solution. We will probably hear from them next week about it!

Base set
Black stripe
6.25u spacebar
Mods (*)

(*) Not sure about this yet, because I may use the set on my Poker only. But, if I buy the mods it will fit my FC660 as well. And I may get also your upcoming black on beige with proper mods for the FC660 instead.

I got a shipping cost of more than 20 dollars conus...Is that normal. Even if I just let the base set in the list the shipping cost is that high. Is that normal? It will be recalculated in the next step when I get my conus address captured?

I can't speak for SP, but I bet prices will be updated if something changes on the way.

Yeah, seeing that DSA Dolch my never see the light of day (fingers crossed I'm wrong) this will have to fill the gap.

Retro set is starting to wear a little and I have to get some DSA back up!!!

Ordered. Base + Boring Joe's + ISO + Numpad.
The extra mods are a bit pricey for me... Maybe I'll add them at the last minute if the price is down.
Also : 16$ for shipping to france ! That is excellent. I just hope enough people buy the ISO kit to make it happen, else I'm f*cked.

Hey guys just wanted to give you an updated - we have lowered the international shipping charge from $26 to $15 in hopes that this might help (though at a small cost to ourselves). We are still working out the best way to handle this and hope that you bear with us once we get a few group buys under our belts with the new system.
