that doesn't look like keyboard from the movie.. is it suppose to be from the movie, or just inspired by. ?

The graphics are inspired by the movie.

I'm not even sure what a keyboard "from the movie" would look like.

Get 'em while they're hot!

Already placed order with SP.

Looking forward to these, G20 is a new profile for me so we'll see how it turns out here.  The amount of colours used on these caps is quite extraordinary and am excited to see them up close in my hands.

4 Keyboards are set for these babies, so it's now up to SP to deliver and I hope they are defect free.

I hope you aren't disappointed!

Keep in mind that there is a registration variance of up to 0.020" with SP's dye-sublimation process. You will notice that variance when you examine each keycap from the SYMBOLS kit in isolation. However, the effect seems diminished when looking at a complete keyboard of caps. Still, if this variance bothers you, there is a good chance you'll be disappointed by this set. This is particularly true for the Semiotic symbols because the red border makes the registration variance rather easy to see. It is nearly imperceptible on the ESDP-style keys because they have no border; they're graphics are more "open", if you will.

Many slimy, drippy tentacles and disturbing ridges. And then the keyboard opens, it sticks out a smaller keyboard.

Don't worry if it's perceptually noticed by my old eyeballs, then I'll demand another shipment of keys to replace any that are malformed.  Remember it's SPs position to apply a perfect dye-sub not yours, you've done great making this set happen it's entirely SP's job to manufacturer it perfectly for the end user  8) .

YES they do stuff up some keys as evidenced of previous purchases off them but they do correct it rather quickly, so it makes them the very best in fixing any manufacturing disasters and sending out the corrected ones

Fairly similar in fact:

https://typesetinthefuture.com/2014/12/01/alien/

Search for "funny-looking keyboard" (it's a long way down the page).

Ironically, the movie keyboard is backlit, so this keycap set really needs a white backlit keyboard for best effect!

Are you referring to the Emergency Destruct System panel? I don't think of that as a keyboard, though fans of ortholinear keyboards might feel differently. It would be like calling this a keyboard:

The keycap set has gone with the strange rounded-edge flat keycaps instead of normal spherical or cylindrical keycaps. The chosen keycap family isn't an exact match for the keypad from the film, but it's much closer than if it had normal keycaps.

Exactly.

It turns out that SP has this other completely flat keycap that has squared-off corners and edges, but they only have a 1u mold for it, so it isn't suitable for a full keyboard set.

I don't know if SP has an industrial art director..  but they need one..   all of their stuff might have the right creative initiative,  but there's no researched/educated execution whatsoever.. it's just some random engineer going,  this looks good yea ?,

Same here, really salivating at this latest release.  Nothing better than receiving something related to the "Alien", the only decent movie made by that tosser Ridley Scott.

Wouldn't it be grand if the key-caps actually dripped Alien Blood dissolving everything under it..... would be untold  :o .

While I agree that most of the movies he directed get more more credit than they deserve, I cannot agree that Alien was the only decent movie. He also directed Blade Runner. Other than those two though...

Alien was the 'first contact' type of Movie whilst everyone else was busy praising films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET,  Ridley tackled it from the fear angle to present something that will sh1t your pants if you ever came across it in your own space craft.

The down side for Ridley was re-making it to DEATH with lesser movies that never had the original "Bite".  They all rehashed or tried to go subliminal leaving a very boring franchise here.  Sometimes when you make a decent film best to just move on and forget about it, instead of resurrecting Sigourney Weaver over and over again.  Suspect we'll see another episode where she comes back in her walking frame to do Battle with another Alien Queen only this time the film will be comatose on arrival like old Sigourney.

Blade Runner was brilliant BUT they have decided to resurrect that as well for the moronic out there.  Suspect this one will also lack the originality of the first one, just hate re-makes or add-ons because it's the greedy bankers wanting easy money out of viewers, so badly written scripts and expensive computer graphics to sell a 'lamo' story won't do anything but add to the burgeoning pile or garbage known as the Hollywood Film Industry.

Alien is a cinematic masterpiece. At its essence it is a "haunted house in space" movie, but the sum of its parts make it so much more than that.

Blade Runner is a cinematic work of art unlike any other, but the only version worth watching, in my opinion, is the (original) director's cut. The voice-over narration helps a new viewer understand the plot, and conveys some of its noir tone, but when you take that away, what you are left with is some of the most striking visual poetry caught on film.

I love those two movies. But I also love Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. And Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. And The Terminator. And Aliens. And...

A fat man, frustrated by the lack of proper spicy food in Detroit, moves to Arizona, kicks the first wave of carpetbaggers off their land, and moves in. This makes a coven of blue-eyed witches angry, and they send a bunch of attack worms to eat him.

Directed by the Coen brothers.  Potential working titles: Weirding Arizona?  The Harkonnen Proxy?  O Baron, Where Art Thou?  No Country  for Old Mentats?

We shall  :thumb: .  Just make sure we see the actual icons up close to see whether the SP Team delivered the quality on this key-set.

Also don't forget to take some REAR-end shots because we don't have any photos showing any G20 Rears on this website, supplying the pics so that every hardcore fetishist can enjoy the business end of this key-set  8) .

As promised, here are photos of my Semiotic set.  Sorry for the poor quality.  I'm not Ansel Adams.

159152-0

Here's a bandwidth killer version:

159154-1

I used all the 1u symbols, except for the H9, dS, WJ, and perpendicular semi-circle keys.

159156-2

ISO and Ergodox users pay a premium for supporting their layouts, so it's nice that they get some exclusives, but I really wish I could have gotten the Yoni and Lingha keys and a non-ISO Shakti Excess key.  Also, why is there no Particle Beam Abhort key?  Why are you restricting my access to a safe particle beam abortion?  Keep your laws off my key caps!

My only complaint is that most of the modifier keys are warped (see the shadows under the keys in the images below).  I'm currently not using my 2.75u shift key or my second 2u modifier but if I put this set on another board, I'm going to need those keys.  Is this a common issue with SP's PBT caps?

159158-3

159160-4

I haven't contacted Signature Plastics yet but if they can't correct this, this will probably be the last PBT set I buy from them.

I really like this set but since I've started using it, I can't shake the feeling that someone is looking over my shoulder.

159162-5

actually I plan to use an opaque layer so those gaps are not exposed,
I did not order the acrylic directly so it's a bit of mis-communication,
but it's alright, transparent is ok, it looks somewhat nice :p
