Well because he still broke the forum rules repeatedly and didn't slow down or stop, despite many warnings and a few temp bans to get the point across. I miss him on a personal level - I like to think we were decent friends, and it sucks to have to do that to a friend. But when it happened, there really wasn't another option aside from turning a blind eye, which would of course be favoritism and not desired at all.
So, all that said, we come to the point of the thread - unbanning a permabanned member. There is currently no precedent for this, which I think is why it's never been done before. Letting one person back begs the same question for basically every other banned member, and at the moment I'm not sure the best way to handle that.
Personally, I miss both kirkle and moose back when there was no trolling and only helpful answers and cool projects. They were fun people that brought some great personality to the forum. The fact that there was a long period of positive involvement before the ban (ie, they didn't join solely to troll and subsequently were banned) leads me to lean toward giving a second chance. But that's just me; the mod team will have to discuss the issue and come to a proper conclusion before any action can be taken.
