Why are so many people finding it pricey? Compare to sherryton bso 85 keys which costs 135usd…

I consider any set that's not a fully functional set on most keyboards and that costs more than $100 to be pricey.

I'm just looking at $130 + shipping for this set versus Ivan's $75 + shipping for his BSP set and thinking that the pricing is a bit high and am having a hard time justifying an additional $55 while not getting anything special added or any functionality added.  If it was $130 shipped or $90+ shipping, I'd probably go for it, but not $130+shipping in a GB.

These are beautiful, imsto.

It may also have something to do with the recent boom in the number of cheaper GBs. There's a current interest check on ~$20-$25 Dolch/Graphite/etc (OEM profile). Another is the popular Granite DSA set via SP -- reasonably priced and with plenty of options. There might be a few more GBs people have their money caught up in, so $135 before shipping may be too much to spend on a single keyset when you can get so much more with other GBs.

I would disagree on that since people know the quality difference between BSP and GMK and Tai Hao. Tai Hao is amazing for the money, but nowhere near as nice as BSP and GMK.

Well, yes. What I said is speaking with quality aside. People don't seem to seem as interested in putting in $135+ in a single, high-quality keyset when inexpensive sets like previous imsto, ivan PBT GBs, and even GMK. These are all usually ~$100.

This.

Like I said, $135 is acceptable for a full set that supports both wk and wkl layout, BSP should know there lack of keys is a no-go for many people (like me). Look at Ivan GMK buy, dark grey has price like $130 for many layout support, even HHKB

I don't think BSP cares, to be honest. The sales they get from keyboard enthusiasts is only a tiny section of their total sales. They're not going to make new moulds just to suit what we want unless we pay for them.

They can't do spacebars, they can't do 1.25x mods, their right shift is goofed (among other problems), and I don't think any of those things are going to change.

Anw, I still hope we can have a complement from another manufacturer, GMK sounds good too

It's possible to get some 7x space bar from gmk too If got enough orders
The 1x win will be printed or be blank, depends the ideas of you.
I think these keys will be the best quality that could be found from market, including the printing and the keys.

The question is why don't you let BSP print them?? Then we would be sure that we get "cherry" caps :P

The regular dyesub set he's using there is an original set, not a BSP remake. So it has a spacebar, different legends on Prt sc/Pause, and it doesn't have a weird right shift.

The desko set he's using is original, so it's printed by BSP and not imsto. It also has those dyesub RGBs..

If the price went even more higher because of BSP dyesub, I am not sure if anybody still interested.

This is the best of replica at affordable price.

You're right. These are the best replicas yet. The legends are all perfect.

There are a few advantages to the originals though, methinks.

What are the advantages compared to this set?
Better printing
Spacebar
A right shift that isn't odd
No possible errors, like the one mrdar posted earlier
Scooped F&J (subjective)
Also, since these are replica legends they are bound to be a tiny bit different from the original

Thanks.  If I can pick your brain for another minute,

- what keyboards did this set come on?
- is the original space bar PBT?
- what specifically do you mean by odd right shift?

Thanks for the info.

Thanks.  If I can pick your brain for another minute,

1. what keyboards did this set come on?
2. is the original space bar PBT?
3. what specifically do you mean by odd right shift?

Thanks for the info.

1. Russian set is a replica of the ESA-3000HASRO. There are other 'original Cherry dyesub' keyboards with cyrillic, such as the 3000SAV, with tiny differences in the legends too.
The Desko set is a replica of this keyboard's keyset. This keyboard has doubleshot/dyesub keycaps. The regular black on beige keycaps are Cherry doubleshots. The ones with subtext are BSP dyesubs, as are the RGBs.

2. The spacebar on all 'original Cherry dyesub' keyboards is PBT. The spacebar on the Desko keyboard is ABS, since is it not a Cherry dyesub keyboard.

3. Here is a picture of a mounted Cherry dyesub right shift. Note how it matches up perfectly with the right-edges of the enter key and the control key.
Here is a picture of a BSP right shift. Note how it doesn't match up.. That's because it's shorter.

Side on of original vs BSP (BSP one looks like a banana) : http://i.imgur.com/QlVjiBn.png
Underside of original vs BSP (yes, it's even thinner too!) : http://i.imgur.com/RzzLf5R.png

The BSP right shift is just really weird in a number of ways. The rest of the BSP keys are fine though..

Also, worth noting that BSPs right shift has been like this for some time. The right shift on that Desko keyboard is just the same.

I don't suppose there's any chance of a 1.75u right shift? If so, I'd have no choice in the matter but to buy the desko set…

I doubt that BSP even has that mold.

BSP has a very limiting set of molds, but their sets are the only PBT sets I like. Really unfortunate, considering I don't own a board I can put BSP on. I wish that they would get some more molds.

I'm very curious the difference between GMK, SP, Plum, and BSP PBT plastics. I have 3 of those otw to test out. Any hints?

You linked to a reseller selling a BSP set for less than the GB price.  Not sure how that's supposed to convince people the pricing is good.  The pricing on this GB just seems really high given that Ivan has a quote of $75 + shipping for a complete BSP dyesub set.  It tells me this isn't a GB price, but a reduced vendor price with a good deal of a markup over BSP's price.

Yup, u got the point. Imsto is a vendor so if there's any profit behind it is reasonable thou. Even some of the other GB organizers also earn at least by increasing pirce a little to cover unexpected/possible fee/tax. As photoelectric mentioned, this set offer more keys and considering of more complicated dyesub for russian/desko as well as side fonts. This is really something convincing enough in my opinion.

Regarding spacebar, this gb will probably try to ask gmk if number of orders reach the moq. Else worse case just harvest 7x spacebar from old board, buy from those spacebars that ppl had from Ivan's gb or the worst case as Imsto mentioned, SP one.

Ctrl and Alt rows are A profile for this gb set, which I think Originative's one isnt?

Oh all key is pbt dye-sub except green esc? And all is Cherry old keycaps or BSP keycaps? If that is BSP, BSP fixed arrow issue on Enter cap?

Hi Friend, I believe that:1. The set are all PBT caps; 2. The keycaps are ordered from BSP (Blank Set); and 3. All print is carried out by IMSTO himself thus for the font you can refer to the sample pics

IMSTO, what do you think about doing dye sub Cherry logo on 1x Win keys?  Red cherries, black stem + leaf.  (Same logo as for IvanIvanovich's dye sub cream/beige sets with different-colored Cherry R4 1x caps).
I am not sure about if it will be agreed with the others. but maybe should make an option that could order 2 more 1x for that with the logo on it.

Would love 1x win keys with cherry logo (:

Sorry, slightly off topic, but that is an unusual keyboard layout.  What is the purpose of the key switch where the green Esc is?

And which keyboard is it?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You misunderstood his question, he talked about the sample picture so the green Ecs is ABS double-shot, the thing we're wondering is the keycaps in the photo were BSP made or just the original set from Cherry

That is DK Saver keyboard. Green ESC is Numlock key. I like this layout :)
