I think there needs to be more options for the wording that goes along with the stars....

I concur; the word "logic" should be in there somewhere...

time is relative

Time is constant. Your perception of it is what's relative. But anyways, getting off track here...

Stars.

So... 1000 posts gets you a star?  I'm not sure how that translates to 'Elder' status though.

Posting shows that you've spent time in the community. Roaming forever and not making any input is different then spending all of your free time here and communicating with everyone. :)

Ok, I can see that.  I suppose within 1000 posts there has to be some community value there, or at least people begin to know you and you're participating.   :thumb:

I wouldn't call what pacifist does "communicating," I'd say he's more on that "not making any input" side

Which is why I had made the argument about how "elder" status's should be based on when a user registered, not their post count... think it was in this thread a couple pages back...

-_-

They would still have to ask an admin to give it to them, which they can't do if their inactive...

I've been against the stars since day 1.

I tend to agree, they are meaningless things that just give people incentive to post quantity, not quality.

Just get some more prototypes going and you'll be there before you know it!!!

Honestly you should probably get 2 or 3 posts increase per post as yours are some of the most informative around.

You need many more posts for that.

Or you can just fight the system and refuse a star.

Only 404 more posts to go.

At your current posting rate of 4.768 posts per day, that's about another 85 days.

So we'll see you back here around mid- to late April :)

It's not automatic, is it? I still have to ask a mod after 1000 post, right?

How did you even have 9K post rowdy? You been here for years??

Yes.  Not everyone wants a star, so once you reach 1000 posts just PM an admin and ask nicely :)

Yes, I do seem to have more than 9000 posts.  No idea how that happened ... ;)

I'm kind of a newb - I guess I'll work it out as I go along.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If anyone wants a star, please contact someone with an "Administrator" or "Moderator Supreme" forum title specifically.  It's not as simple as adding an icon to the title and needs higher ranked permissions that moderators have.

Yes, technically only Administrators can, but some people are in multiple account type groups (and they actually have multiple available titles), so their title may show up as something else.  That's why I added "moderator supreme" to the list.

Hey I'm proud of my black star, besides I don't think there is a white star, but orange would be cooler.

anybody who gets a star?

so then no meaning at all, just the people who take the incentive to ask for a star?
