I got to use a "Fällkniven F1" a few days ago, it was really cool. kind of want one now just cause how nice it feels in the hand and how well-made it felt. but I don't really know anything about non-kitchen knives and no idea why I would use one...
they're made fairly locally from where I'm born in Sweden too, which is nice.

Fallkniven are great knives. Two downsides: Their short blades are massively thick (disregard the handle), and they're quite expensive. I have an EnZo Trapper which is very similar geometry-wise with a thinner blade, you might wanna look at those as well. You can get a kit with N690 steel for 80€!

I really wanna get one of these... no real reason except that they're cool.

If you want to buy something exotic and never built before:

LionSteel TiDust

a bit expensive, but really unique... Made in Italy, of course.

Jesus, some of you have almost as many Chris Reeves as I have knives.  I should put together a family photo.  Haven't done one of those in a long time.  :P

Saw this Ka-Bar BK16 on Massdrop. I'm familiar with their non-folding knives but can anyone offer an opinion on Ka-Bar folders?

Never mind, it's a fixed blade :(.

So, after a long break I finally continue...

Cold Steel Code 4

My favorite non auto/assisted folder, I love it!
- Great build quality
- Feels very solid
- Opens very easily
- Very strong locking mechanism
- Lock not as "dirtproof" as frame or liner locks

Cold Steel Recon 1 (Rev.2) -vs- Code 4

The ancestor of the Code 4...
- Grippy G10 scales instead of smooth aluminum
- Coating on the blade will wear fast
- Otherwise similar to the Code 4

Fox Knives - Kuku Hanuman Karambit

- Good fit/shape
- Somewhat expensive

Boker AK-74 Automatic Folder

- Decent build quality
- Affordable
- Many variations
- Opening could be snappier

EDC Gear - Harpoon

Nice addition to any survival/bugout bag...
- Can be used as knife as well as harpoon/spear tip
- Small, light and affordable

Boker Plus Rampage

- Interesting blade-shape
- Not so good size/weight ratio
- I don't like the handle scales, might change em

Boker Mini Slik Neck Knife

Don't like it, probably gonna sell it soon...
- Interesting small neck knife
- Titanium handle scales

And more...

Browning Black Label - Strike Force

Nice fusion of a karambit and a trench-knife...
- Nice sheath
- Good ergonomics
- In difference to conventional karambits it's bladeshape allows stabbing
- In difference to a trench-knife your hand is not trapped in brass-knuckles
- If it would be made of better steel it would be my favorite "combat" knives

BlackField RAPTOR Karambit

Don't like it, gonna sell it soon...
- Bad ergonomics
- Bad balance

Schrade SCHF11 Re-Curve Tanto

- Solid and simple outdoor knife
- There are better and/or cheaper options out there

Spyderco Mini Folders - Grasshopper / Honeybee / Bug

- Will fit in your wallet
- More of a gimmick/collectors item, but still nice as a backup EDC

Kershaw Cryo I -vs- Cryo II

My favorite assisted EDC knives...
- Great price / quality ratio
- Safe use (Frame-Lock and flipper prevents closing)

Kershaw Shallot - Stainless / Tungsten DLC Black

- Interesting blade-shape
- Good price / quality ratio
- Not happy with it's ergonomics
- Not as nice as the Cryo I or Cryo II

Kershaw Leek - Blackwash

- Good price / quality ratio
- Not happy with it's size/shape/ergonomics

Kershaw Zing

- Not sure on the build quality
- Prefer it's shape/ergonomics over the Leek

Thanks!
Still have to add a couple more, also the ones I made myself recently (started knife making...)
For the photos I used a single Speedlight (on camera) bounced off the ceiling and in some cases a baking-sheet as reflector :D

Baking sheet...do you mean like foil or the thicker metal that you put cookies on (that's not very shiney)?

The metal thing, mine is made of uncoated steel, more or less matte silver...
A piece of white or grey cardboard will do the same, it's just that I took the pictures on my kitchen table and it was the closest thing that worked ^^;

Thanks.  Was the xm-18 in your picture a 3.5in?
I always liked Hinderers, but like with ZT's  most of them are to heavy/bulky for my personal liking.

Love these 3 inchers tho :)

Yes it was a 3.5" and I had a brown 3" sold both sadly. I miss them. I liked both sizes a lot! Yeah zt are too heavy for me. :)

All these knives are too clean.

Anyone use some for line-handling or construction instead of paperweights?

:P

Snagged another 3in XM-18

Spanto grind with Translucent Green G10 scale.  It looks white in the pictures, but it does have a slight greenish tint to it in person.

and a better pic of the 3in with Slicer grind and Orange G10.
