Problem with Topre Keycaps
« on: Tue, 28 February 2012, 04:05:00 »
I just thought I would post some photos of my Topre Keyboard keycaps. This keyboard hasn't been used and when I was showing a friend he noticed they weren't right. Has anyone seen this before?

PS. Sorry about the bad lighting my computer is on the left side near the keyboard.

Excessive letter fade?

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here.

Pretty much, for a keyboard that I hadn't used yet. I think it may have been a fault in the printing, the place I brought it from are going to take it back and replace it for me. But is it common for the black keycaps to do this or I would I better off going to the white keycaps?

Nice and cheap for a topre keyboard. Are they replacing or refunding?

Well this solved my conundrum for what color Realforce I want at least.

Thanks OP, good luck with the RMA.

But as far as we know it is a one off defect.

I can get either, I want it replaced no question, but I do like the black over the white keyboard though personally, so may just get another black one.

And I haven't seen any complaints about this happening hence I posted about this with pictures.

I'm not even sure just how defective it is. Taking another look at the pics, it's hard to tell if it's really the keys or the lower quality picture and lighting.

I would not worry about it honestly. It is not horribly rare for a botched dye sub job in general, but it is far more uncommon for a Topre board to exhibit it. It is very, very unlikely that it's a wear issue. Just an initial printing problem. Again, far more uncommon than many (most) other problems. That's it, no more no less.
Enjoy the new board when it gets in.
