Blank home keys with "nibs"
« on: Fri, 22 November 2013, 14:35:15 »
Are blank keys available with the home key bumps?

Are people making their own bumps?  How?

I added a little super glue to the bumps on my non-blank home keys so as to feel them better. It works but it looks a little ugly, although I can live with that. But I don't want to mess up a new set of blank caps.

You should be able to find those, if not at Signature Plastics I know you can get them at WASD.  I'm sure some of the vendors could get them as well.

I'm also asking for suggestions how to make more prominent home key bumps.
I'm using a laptop so I would rather not change the key caps. I don't mind making them a little messy. Is glue the way to go, is it really healthy to touch glue all day long?

Get some round head finishing nails, get it hot and press it through the keycap, then clip off the excess length... you could have something like this:

I cannot believe they don't have black ones.

I've been doing fine using deep dish DSA for my F and J keys on the ErgoDox. But still, homing nubs would be much better.

Hey are these your keys? Mind showing what the inside of ones that have the nail look like so I can get a better idea of what to do? That or a step by step would be cool

Unicomp blank PBT BS key sets have the three (F / J / 5) keys with nubs included.  Always figured every key set would?
