Hello friends of Geekhack!

  I'm here to introduce you the Matrix-01 R2 keyset——SHURIKEY Matrix-01!

  The Matrix-01 R1 was launched by us 3 years ago, and the manufacturer was GMK. Most of them are sold in China, and only 250 sets were produced in the end. Over time, Matrix-01 has gradually been recognized and loved by Chinese players. Therefore we have decided to do another round for it with almost completely redesigned novelties and bring it to intl as well. After comprehensive consideration, we decided to cooperate with SHURIKEY this time.

  Two kits will be offered this time: Base kit and All-in-one kit!

  All keys are made in double shot abs.

I am most definitely on board. I joined this crazy hobby about 1 year ago and definitely missed the chance at the first run. But I am also excited to try different manufacturers. I feel like these caps and the colorway in general is a nice touch and since I already have the matrix01 tactile switches, I will have to get these.

Want the set but comparing the W legend and E legend on Shurikey looks to be questionably inconsistent in thickness.

More doubleshots ABS is always welcome but I'm not the biggest fan of some of these legend molds.

The 1.25u shift is text only and the ISO enter is icon only but the rest of the set is icon + text, this means ISO users will have 3 different styles of legends on their keycaps for no reason. Just look at the ISO enter, it's a huge keycap with the tiniest arrow in the world. Really bad. I also think there is no reason to use 'Ctrl' instead of 'Control' on anything larger than 1.25u, it just looks awkward on the 1.75u control.

You also have a duplicate mod colored escape and no F13.

Would be down, but biggest reason why I've avoided Shurikey is those damn arrows and spacebars. Why do they HAVE to plaster their logo like that???!!

I'd be down, but please for the love of God or whatever God you believe in, get rid of the Shurikey branding and stick to normal arrow legends.

price is absurd and imo it's worth to go with shurikey for that alone

the all in one kit is ~$105 for what i estimate to be like 180 keycaps, i figure international will be more like 115

and the lead time is like 4 months compared with GMK's 18+

would have been nice to see this in JTK instead but i'll strongly consider this regardless

I'm not saying everything has to copy GMK.  I can "almost" accept the strangely large font on the F row, and I can overlook the strangely small numbers on the numpad. But there's no reason why the modifiers can't all have the same size font.  Alt, Ctrl, and Fn are one size, Shift is a bit smaller, and Enter is a tad smaller still.  Makes no sense.  It's just bad design.  I love the colorway.  Those legends need work.

Our style is usually to release information after everything is basically ready. If you feel unhappy about this, I'm sry.

The keys for their base kit are fixed (Including all those SHURIKEY's own novelties). We can only add more our own designed novelties, but cannot reduce theirs.

I guz it‘s because this mold is a horribly compromised outcome which was originally aimed for Varmilo’s Mass Products rather than Customized market.
GMK is now a disaster of ETA but at least it was not a disaster of engineering.

Did you know that you can have preferences without being a designer (especially if two runs are different and you can compare them)? I prefer this ones: https://matrixzj.github.io/docs/gmk-keycaps/Matrix-01/. Since you dont have an IC form, you should be acceptable of feedback in the comments here

EDIT: Sorry, left a too short message. I always regret not picking up the GMK set when it was available. But the design alone (colors/novs) in Matrix-01 isn't enough for me to buy. I would rather pay more and wait longer for the high quality, cohesive legends, and recessed stem from GMK
