Make sure to read directions on each can.  Try to do the base + clear coat together, within 1 hour.  Thin layers, veil-like, so that there are never liquid pools of paint in places, and wait to do each next coat until the previous one stops being shiny and feels dry.

Yes sir! I'll be sure to ask you again when I actually do it in the future.

Got white Shine caps today (thank you, metalliccharles), and now my dream for this keyboard is complete :)  I had to take lots of photos :)

There were lots of cool variations, but I settled on this one for now:

A purist would say that `~ and \| should be white, but who cares? ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm weird in that I prefer that they're not white. I much prefer the symmetry created by them being the same color as the modifiers.  The asymmetry created by sets with those the same color as the alphas drives me absolutely insane.

I don't like that asymmetry.  I've tied it.  But since we're color coordinating and using custom keycaps and all, aesthetics > logic.

@Photoelectric: Sweet color combination!  It reminds me of cotton candy and strawberry foam candy! ;D

As for the asymmetry on the `~ and \| keys...to each his own

BUT my gray \| key is staring me in the face surrounded by black modifiers and begging to be swapped out.

Time to browse the forum and find some inspiration for a two-tone layout!

But I think I don't have yet the key caps, I mean they don't have enough colors haha

Is the plate on the Ducky Year of the Dragon also yellow?

At first glance I did not notice that some of your modifiers were purple!  That looks totally awesome! I think I'll try a black/gray checker pattern when I have some time.

Are you both talking of keycaps right ^^" ? not sure, not the backlights right? cauz I guess that black case with that grey + purple check borders is kinda weird
then... maybe the problem is the black case..
Have you ever seen a good color scheme with checked+old school? wanna see the mixing colors

So the darker modifiers are purple, and the middle is pink + white?  Just trying to get the colors straight.  If so, that purple (and also gray) are so much darker than Ducky shows on their advertising photos.

I'm a sort of Ducky headcase, got myself a few of them, but have not quite gotten into swapping out key caps and such.....not yet anyway. So, w/o further delay, here're my Ducky collection...
Ducky Shine II 78 Version #210/399 (swapped out stock black key caps with grey ones, and the transparent WASD and Esc key caps as well)

DS II Special Edition with white key caps (Cherry Blue)

Ducky DK9087G2 Pro with white PBT key caps (Black)

Also went and got a used DK9008 (Blue) in preparation of the Miami key caps, sprayed it white as I believe it'd go better with the key caps. Meanwhile, stuck my Ducky white on white key caps so that I can use it for the time being. It's pure white, I guess the lighting make it looked.....not quite white?

BTW, I have already made a deposit on an Aluminum YOTS (Blue) with the local distributor in my neck of the woods, so I'm assured of a YOTS regardless.

That is quite a collection you have there!

I look forward to seeing your aluminum YOTS.  When do you expect to get it?

Thanks, I should be getting the alu YOTS between the first and second week of August. Will also be picking up a HHKB Pro2 at the same time from the same distributor. I love Topre switch! :-*

Not too far away!  I'd love to see pictures and get some feedback on the aluminum Ducky when you get it. *rawr*

The shops over here have a "buy-if-you-want-to-try" policy and the local distributor here is slow.

I saw someone over at LTT, who's from the Philippines as well, say more or less the same thing. He's hoping it'd be earlier than the expected 08/30. And yes, I'd be back with pics of the YOTS.....

always love with that GMK Purple  :p

Looks good on every board I've tried them on.  Matches well with Cherry black caps, white, cream, and now gray.  IvanIvan is an unsung genius for coming up with these!
