Hey, very excited about the wrist rests, is it possible to add metric measurements to the description if possible? Thank you.
Is there any kind of finish/sealer put on? Polyeurthane?
What color resin is shown on the ebony rest posted in OP? Also is there any reason the Walnut can't get the dark finish?
I'm very interested b/c I'm in need of a new wrist rest for my HHKB...
Any sample pics of the lightning colors? What's the difference between green apple and emerald isles? What color is "deep velvet" (which I usually think of as a fabric rather than a color)?

The resin colors shown in the prototype are a teal and purple swirl. Those are flat colors that were selected for his particular needs, but there are similar color options like deep velvet, emerald isle, and a bunch of blues. Currently, I am not offering color swirls on this group buy.
I am only offering Walnut in a natural finish, as it is already quite dark. If you want a hardwood rest with black, Maple is available with black stain.
Thanks!

Shucks that's a bummer, it looks so good! I get simplifying everything though for GB purposes. Thanks!

There's some sample pics in the website, emerald isles is an emerald green as per the name and green apple seems to just be a more "neon" style bright green, aka apple green. Deep Velvet was purple iirc but yea they're at the bottom of the page(s) where you order!
Submitted my order!
Just a quick question, will rubber bumpons be included to minimize the slippage of wrist wrests? I have some on my current wrist wrest and they definitely help with slippage on my desk. They can be bought in sheets on amazon, I just don't think I will personally go through 100-300 bumpons myself and they'd just go to waste vs if you distributed them as the gb runner.

Has this started yet? or is it going to be starting shortly? What sorta buy time frame or we looking at
Could you share a picture of what the maple and pine look like with the dark stain?

I did some searches on what black stained maple might look like and came up with this... is it similar?Show Image(https://generalfinishes.com/sites/default/files/styles/max_325x325/public/images/color-chips/2017-04/color-chip-gel-stain-black-on-maple-general-finishes.png)
picked one up! I live all the way in taiwan so -- looking forward to it! ...whenever it may come, heh.
Thanks, maker!
I really want to order one of these but gotta wait until after 1st of this month, guess I be in the second set of orders when I do. I know you said you exceeded 30 orders already on reddit when found the post there. I am wondering since you got your first 30 orders are you planning on going ahead and starting instead of waiting till the group buy is over? Also Darker wood you first posted what is that? I wanted to make sure as I like the darker tone on it. I think it might match my desk nicely.
UPDATE 2/27/19
First off Rob (Angry Nimbus) and I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming support. We are on the verge of surpassing 60 orders! This means that we are approaching Batch 3 territory. As originally stated the first 30 orders (Batch 1) are to be fulfilled by April 11th with Batch 2 (orders 31-60) and any subsequent batches receiving a later delivery date that will be determined once progress is made on batch one and we can get a better estimate. To help alleviate some of the wait Rob will begin working on the GB orders ahead of schedule rather than waiting for the group buy to close. Thanks again for your interest and future patience ;)
I was going to wait because I was indecisive on how dark Black was going to be, but I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Excited to see how these turn out. Thanks a lot for doing this!
Appreciate the constant updates on the process! :thumb:
Would you be able to post pictures of all 3 of the different types of wood along with their stained counterparts from the early GB ones you've started working on before the end of the GB? I want to get one,but I'm having a little trouble narrowing down the options and I think seeing some of your works in progress would be extremely useful.

I don't think I will have completed versions of all three by the end of the group buy, but I was planning to so some color samples of the black stained pine and maple so people can get an idea what to expect. I've had a lot of requests to see what the Ebonized maple will look like and it is the most popular choice by far, so once the lumber is milled (which will happen tomorrow) I can start to break it down and I should have some scraps to play with. I ordered some new, high-quality dye for this project which should arrive later this week. At that point I will try to produce some quick samples and post the results. I understand it can be difficult to choose when you don't have something to look at, so I'm doing my best to keep everyone updated and get some samples made. If you want to message me with a pic of your keyboard, I might be able to offer some suggestions. Hope that helps!
I still seem to only have 62USD at the only shipping option, want me to PM you with my email?

UPDATE 3/8/19
Hey guys, just wanted to give you all a quick update. I spoke with Rob yesterday and he informed me that preparations are going well and that production is underway for the first batch. I believe he will be dropping an update with some additional info in the next few days before the GB closes so stay tuned!
Can't even express how much I appreciate these updated posts. Love the communication and the hard work!
Team walnut!
I got ebonized maple with blue denim, but the video kind of makes me wish I had went for walnut. hmm
Is it possible to change my wood, or cancel my first order and make a new one?
Thanks for the GB! Just before I hit go, what's the colour of the tint on the ebonized rest in your first post? I'm considering going purple, but I'm not sure if that would be too dark with the ebonized wood.
Can't even express how much I appreciate these updated posts. Love the communication and the hard work!
True. This kind of involvement is not something we often see by even older members of the community and it is most definitely welcome - I'm still waiting to decide on what to order but I also want to mention I'm thankful for the ironing out of all the details when it comes to international shipping, as well as your desire to keep lead times as short as possible despite the massive influx of orders compared to what was initially planned for.
Well done!
Seriously though we can't thank everyone enough for the amazing support. It's been beyond expectations and I can't wait for you guys to get your rests and to see them popping up in pictures!
Also for those of you still waiting to make a decision, tomorrow is your last day!!!!!
I'm very interested, but having a hard time choosing the resin color for a Walnut rest. I've narrowed it down to Atlantic Blue, Pearlescent White, or Gold Rush. Any suggestions?
Hey, which resin is it you show at the end of the video from the IC thread? Based on the images from the purchase site, it looks closest to "Wild Plum", is that correct? I wanted a reddish orange, but can't decide if "My Clementine" is my only option for orange, or if the "Wild Plum" actually looks reddish orange, or just brownish red. Any help will help decide which, if any I end up getting, thanks!

The one in the video is wild plum. I think "Merlot" would be a better description, as it reminds of of red wine. Clementine is very orange, not at all red. Every monitor displays color a bit differently, so it may look slightly different on your monitor than it does in real life. Shoot me a message if you have any specific questions or want to send me a pic of your keyboard so I can a suggestion.
OK, thanks for that description! If that's the case I'll probably just go with the clementine to make sure I get orange. Looking forward to seeing it in person, as well as all the other ones people ordered when they post pics!
These look great. Wishing I had gotten in earlier, but I'm sure they will be worth the wait.
Thanks for the suggestion and the reminder, I got my order placed in time. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
Hi everyone! Just popping in with a little update. I have completed the burns on the first batch of rests and they are now drying in preparation for the next step. When wood gets wet, it tends to warp and twist a bit. So once they are dry, I will flatten the bottoms of each rest to make them lie perfectly flat again, and then fill the burn channels with resin. The resin takes several days to completely cure before I can scrape and sand it back before final sanding, edge treatment, staining and finishing. I put together a quick video of this weeks progress, which you can watch by hitting the link below.

Looking good :) I like how you are able to influence the spread and direction of the burns by careful placement of the electrodes.
Is the wood stained before the resin is added? If not, how do you avoid it messing with the resin?
Hey folks! Popping in with a quick video update. Last time we saw all of the boards burned, cleaned and clamped to dry. After a few days drying time, the boards were brought back to the shop. Although the boards were milled flat and clamped flat while drying, the burn process still causes them to warp a bit. This is just part of the game when you introduce moisture and heat to raw wooden surfaces. Using the machined surface of my tablesaw as a reference for flatness, each board was hand-planed on the underside to make it flat once again. Then each one is finish sanded on both sides to prepare the surface for resin. The next step in the process has already begun, but that will be in the next video. Thanks for checking it out!

I gotta be honest. It was worth what I paid for this just to watch the process. I keep watching and wondering which of these little masterpieces is mine. ;D
Love the videos and I didn't realize how much work goes into these. Very excited to receive mine.
Wow that ebonized palm is incredible. Is there any chance I could change my order to that from walnut? If not totally understandable i'm sure you've ordered all the wood/stuff based on the GB.

Sorry, but at this point I can no longer make alterations to any orders. All of the lumber has been purchased, and half of it has already been milled and cut into blanks. Trust me though, you are not going to be disappointed with the walnut. I dug through the stacks to find some really pretty boards for this project.
Hey look! There is mine!
So were your hands sore after using the card scraper?
Do you have a favorite wood type and resin color combination?
Back with another video update! My tired old laptop is really having trouble handling these long videos, so please excuse the rough edit. I can only take so many failed exports before I run the computer through my tablesaw.

Last time we saw the boards being flattened and sanded to prep them for resin. A lot has happened since then. Each ebonized order has been "pre-stained" to ensure an even color in the final product. When the resin is applied, some of it is absorbed into the pores of the wood, which seals them off. This would prevent the stain from penetrating and result in areas that have no stain at all. Much of this stain is removed through sanding and scraping later, but I feel its an important step that has a dramatic effect on the end product. After the stain dried, I poured a whole bunch of resin. The epoxy I use is a two-part, UV stable, thermo-set plastic. Once its completely mixed, you have about 10 minutes before it starts to gum up, and fully cures in about 48 hours. The short pot life means I have to work fast, so I do this in batches (one for each color). This stuff isn't cheap, so I pour the excess resin into hardwood flooring scraps to make bottle openers and other small items. Once the resin is fully cured, I move on to cleaning up the top of each board. Some resin soaks in and some pools on top, but all of the mica powder will lie on top of the wood. To clean this up and reveal the details I use a card scraper, which leaves a glass-smooth finish that you just cant get with sandpaper, especially on figured wood.
We are nearing the finish line for batch #1 and they are finally starting to look like wrist rests. I have a few more processes to get through and they will be complete!
Pretty sure I just saw mine. And it was glorious.

If you are in the first batch, you have indeed seen yours at some point in the video. But there are a few duplicate orders, just to keep you guessing. I'm glad you dig it!
Oh mine is the only one of its kind! (it appears). Ebonized maple with Pearlescent White at 4:05. Just look at those beautiful markings.... I'm tearing up just lookin' at her. ;)

Wow, extremely impressive for a first round. You’ve outdone expectations. I missed the window to get in on this round but wow, if this opens again, you’ll be flooded with new orders! All the best and please take care, always a bummer to hear artisans injured and I am hoping for your speedy recovery.
Thanks for the update. Please take care of your back!

GB UPDATE 4/12/19
We are currently running a few days behind schedule. Rob is completing the final steps of production and will start shipping out batch 01 rests in the next couple days. I'm sure he'll be posting another update soon. I've seen a video of the recently completed rests and they are drool worthy :p
On a side note I'm jealous of all of you. Rob has really stepped up his game from when we did my prototype and these are looking incredible!
We all definitely appreciate the constant updates and informative videos. I'm sure most of us are used to months of delay so a few days is nothing! Can't wait to get mine.
Hey folks. I just uploaded a new update video which you can find here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG1o5wCiM3c&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG1o5wCiM3c&feature=youtu.be)
Ive been putting 1-2 coats of finish on these each day and they are finally developing a topcoat. Usually this only takes 3-4 coats, but some of the wrist rests have been incredibly thirsty. Most of these have 6-7 coats by now. Some of the wrist rests are ready to ship, some need a final scuff and coat of sealer to get rid of the dust nibs and surface imperfections. Each coat of polyurethane takes 8-12 hours to dry, so in between finishing I am working on the next batches to get a head start. Please bear with me while I get the first batch to the finish line, they are SO close to being done. Once they go out, you will receive an email with the shipping info through my website. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Oh my goodness these look amazing! Seeing the different colour combinations, I’ll definitely be looking at ordering another one when orders reopen in the future. Thanks for being so meticulous with these and generous with the updates.
Man! They look awesome! I wish I had joined sooner to get it sooner!
Oh boy this is how a GB should be done! I am unfortunately not a part of the first batch but i do not mind the wait at all thanks for being so communicative! Can't wait for mine :)
Is that a blue / maple 60% on the top row? May be my wife's - it's beautiful!
Yes, the neutral maple. I'm not sure what batch we're in. Even if it's not hers, it's still beautiful. Amazing work. :)Oh my goodness these look amazing! If you are in the first batch of orders, then you have glimpsed your wrist rest. There was only one natural maple/blue inlay in this batch, but many ebonized maple in both of the blue colors that we offered. I'm glad you dig it.
Oh my goodness, these are amazing. Please let us know if you do plan on a second run. Your work far exceeded expectations and I missed the window to join.
Update time! Today I have a good one, the first batch is DONE, packaged and ready to hit the mailbox. You will receive tracking info via email once I get all the data entered through my website. Check out the video below for a peek at the finished products.
Video Update: https://youtu.be/X6Lw-rsMr8M (https://youtu.be/X6Lw-rsMr8M)
In the last video update, I spoke about wet sanding and polishing the wrist rests. I began doing this on the underside of each one, but I found it was difficult to acheive a full gloss finish. I did a little more research with the manufacturer and they recommended waiting for a full cure to polish out a gloss finish. So instead, I went back and recoated each wrist rest in the most dust free environment I could create. The result is the best finish that I can achieve without waiting a full month before wet sanding and polishing. They are all nearly perfect aside from a few dust specs, but if you are unsatisfied with the finish and want it to be glass-smooth, its a very simple procedure to wet sand and polish the surface that doesn't require any tools, and I can walk you through it. You just need to wait for the coating to fully cure. Additionally, I had a few orders that had to stay with me a little longer to fix surface imperfections. If your order was affected, you have been sent an email.
All of the lumber for the remaining orders was milled to thickness on Saturday, which means I can start cutting the rest of the blanks as time allows. I have 19 blanks which are already cut, and half of those have been burned and dried, making them ready for resin. My goal is to have that finished by weeks end so I can get a jump start on the remaining orders.
I snapped a bunch of pictures this morning before boxing them up, and added them to the album, which you can find here: https://photos.google.com/u/1/share/AF1QipMqZyaJl-dO8X1y_Nj61veqKTMBq5SYzy5tVHcfAU3LkM1XeGb54DKLyQcrg-A7UQ?key=ZG9kaS1VbE9YZWpCR3JMeGJoOWNKand3X1doU1NB (https://photos.google.com/u/1/share/AF1QipMqZyaJl-dO8X1y_Nj61veqKTMBq5SYzy5tVHcfAU3LkM1XeGb54DKLyQcrg-A7UQ?key=ZG9kaS1VbE9YZWpCR3JMeGJoOWNKand3X1doU1NB)

Thank you! Once all of these orders are complete, I will be reposting the product page on my website for custom orders. I can't take any more commission work until these are finished.
Mine is on the way!!! So stoked for this! Thank you for doing this so smoothly. The video updates are amazing. I really appreciate it
Thanks for posting the pic here! Many of the first batch have been delivered (mostly orders from the east coast) and pictures are starting to pop up. I'm so excited to see these paired with the board they were made for. If you have received yours, please post it up here. I would love to add some pictures to my webpage and social media galleries, so let me know if you are OK with me using them. I will not use any of your photos without your permission. I had one local order that was picked up at my shop. He was nice enough to bring his board so I could grab a shot on the stack of raw lumber that will become the remaining orders. I can't believe how heavy this keyboard was! Really cool to see these custom units in person.I edited my post above to include a better picture, taken outside as you suggested over on reddit. Matches the actual colors much better! Feel free to use the pic any way you like.

Do you see that bit of slope downwards towards the end? I think that slopes feels better on my wrist than just a straight block. Do you think it possible to add this slight angle downwards on future products?

Thanks for the feedback!
Doing that bevel cut would not be too difficult, just a few more steps in the process. The burns can wrap around corners and curves with no issue. However it would cause issues doing the resin inlay, as it goes down as a liquid and everything would flow down that sloped face.
Hi everybody! Your Tuesday update became a Wednesday update after I lost an entire video edit and cried myself to sleep. But I came back strong this morning and remade the whole thing. Its a bit longer than the last few videos because I have been BUSY cranking away on these wrist rests. Last time I checked in, you saw all the lumber had been milled to thickness. Since then I have cut it all down to individual blanks for every remaining order, and burned all of the blanks for Batch #2, along with some from Batch #3. All of the blanks are labeled and double checked to make sure they are correct. This is great because now there is no more down time waiting for lumber to climatise or be milled, and no more trips to the lumber yard for more stock. I can continue to burn small batches when I have down time (like waiting for resin to cure, etc) which will help to get the timeline back on track. Batch #2 is about to be sanded, pre-stained and then straight to resin. That will hopefully be done by Friday so it can cure over the weekend. I also purchased a new (used) tool called a jointer that will hopefully speed up the flattening process, but I have to tune it up and make some adjustments to get it working properly. If I can figure it out, it should cut flattening time in half and increase my accuracy, which is huge.
Batch #2 Progress Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHBUac-e3Gw&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHBUac-e3Gw&feature=youtu.be)
Speaking of accuracy, I made a little mistake on an order in the first batch. I transcribed a size incorrectly, and ended up making the wrong size. I sent an email to the person who ordered it, but I have not heard back. If you were order #1022, please check your email (possibly spam folder as it gets sent through my website). I have already started remaking your order in the correct size. This particular order did not match any of the later orders, so I am offering it up to people who missed the boat on the group buy. It is a 60% (11.75") Natural Maple with Atlantic Blue resin inlay, pictured below. If you are interested in snapping it up, just shoot me a message.

My Wrist Rest arrived on Saturday however have had bad weather for the past few days, but managed to catch a 15 min window with the sun coming through my window. the photo does not do full justice of the amazing hues in the pine wood but it is going to be the best i can do for now
Hey everybody! Just popping in with a quick update. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make much progress on batch 2 over the past week. We have had an incredibly rainy spring here, with almost constant, daily rain. While my little shop does have a roof, it is not climate controlled. With lots of rain, comes lots of humidity and moisture in the air. All of the lumber that I buy is kiln dried down to a workable moisture content, but raw wood (and even finished wood for that matter) is constantly "breathing" which means it will absorb moisture out of the surrounding air. This isn't a problem for most of the steps in my process, but it is critical for when I flatten the boards out. I generally do the flattening in two stages. The first is a rough planing to remove any twisting or cupping that occurs after the lumber is milled, then the boards are allowed to sit for a day or two for any internal stresses to release and they are checked for flatness again. Almost all of them will require another few passes at the jointer to get them dead flat, remove tear-out and get them down to final thickness. Once the second stage is complete, there is not enough material to go back and flatten them again. For this reason, I have been waiting for things to dry out so I can be sure they won't warp later when they dry out. If I skip this step and rush it, I might end up with wobbly wrist rests that are too thin to go back and flatten again. Instead I have started to do the burns on the last batch, because excess moisture is not a concern. If any of you follow me on IG, you may have seen that I had a show last weekend at a Winery in Southern NJ. We were lucky enough to have 2 hot, sunny days and the weather has stayed in that pattern, which means that the batch 2 rests will finally be able to dry out (cross your fingers). Once I am confident the moisture content has stabalized, i will perform the second flattening and move on to trimming, edge treatment and finishing. I will be out of town for the last week of this month on a long awaited trip to Maine, but I am really hoping to have batch #2 in the finishing room with a few coats of sealer on them, which will ensure that they stay dry and flat while I am gone.
I have also been considering new options, colors and strategies for when my custom order book reopens (after the last batch is complete). I would like to hear your input so I can see what people want. Right now I am thinking about adding Purpleheart, Curly Maple, Mahogany and Wenge for wood choices, but they need to be tested to see if they will burn well. There is an endless variety of colors and pigments available, so the sky is the limit for that. If you have suggestions or desires, please comment below and let me know!
I think the biggest take-away from this project is that I would prefer to work in smaller batches. As much as I appreciate the financial stability of having lots of pending orders, accepting 100+ custom orders is a huge workload on top of the rest of the tasks involved with operating a small craft business. I am the only employee here, which means I also have to handle administrative duties, social media, booking shows, replenishing my stock and creating new products. These other aspects have suffered from my focus on the wrist rests. Additionally, I feel like constantly making the same thing has taken a toll on my creative output, which is the entire reason I quit working as a mechanic and started this journey. My current plan is to take up to 10 custom wrist rest orders each month, but include more options to allow deeper customization. I may increase this number during the winter, when business is slower (due to the lack of craft shows and post-holiday reduction in purchases). The second take-away is that I can't sustain the original group buy price. When I made the original wrist rest for JB1830, I didn't encounter any issues with warping or lose product due to blemishes and waste from milling. The amount of hours I have poured into the first few batches is over two times what I had estimated from the first build. I don't have a final price point yet, but I will determine that once I have all the factors nailed down.
Don't get me wrong, these are not complaints by any means. This is a new business for me and a complete departure from my old career, so I am still learning how to run it. I truly appreciate every single order that you all have made. You are literally keeping the roof over my head right now as I grow and establish myself in the craft community. Without them, I would have to get a second job to pay the bills. Thank you so much for keeping my dream alive!

Well, you've been one of the best GB runners I've encountered. Your level of detail, care, and communication are off the chart. I don't think anyone wants a rushed product after seeing the fantastic results of the first batch, and I really don't think a price adjustment moving forward is unreasonable. :)
I appreciate all your hard work, Rob. After this initial gb, I don't think you'll have a problem filling your monthly quota!

Agreed with all of these points. I originally got one of these rests for my 60% and given the great communication and pictures i've seen so far (I'm in the last batch i think) I'll be the first one to hop onto a TKL sized one.
As far as suggestions, I would absolutely looove to see a wenge wrist rest. Or perhaps you could investigate other techniques to influence the burn design (different mounts of the burning part or varied voltage/current perhaps?).
Totally understandable with the cost increase too :)
These look good I'm so mad I missed out on these. Hopefully there will be a round two.
Ahhh that looks awesome. That Walnut/Purple combo is one of my favorites. Thank you for the picture! Would you mind if I use this for social media/website posts? You are welcome to watermark the photo so you get full credit.Sure! Don't worry about a watermark. It's a phone potato.
I sadly missed out on the first round. Will you be doing another round anytime soon? Beautiful work which I wish to have my hands on.I don't know when we'll do another group buy but I know that Rob plans on making the wrist rest available on his site after the GB is done.
My wife finally got a photo of the rest at work! Thanks again for sharing and the /r/mk post ;)
She picked up the Walnut case after I ordered maple, otherwise maple would have been the obvious pairing. But I love the way the maple makes the blue just pop!Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190524/fe9c53fe7c5e634c4958a49d0e80e63a.jpg)
this is gaining some massive traction on r/mk - hoping I can get in on the next GB!Thanks. The rests will be available to custom order once the GB is finished and hopefully we'll have another GB in the near future.
Are all orders already out? I am still waiting for mine. Hope i get it soon.:)

He finished and shipped the first group, and has combined the second/third group together which are now being worked on.
That's my understanding at least.

The first batch has been shipped and delivered. Second batch is in the final stages of completion and work has begun on the last batch. The last batch is the largest (basically a batch and a half). These will be mailing out as they are completed. Once the last batch is nearing completion, I will open the books for more orders. If you have specific questions on your order timeline, please send me a message through my website with your order number and I will get back to you. There is also a list further up in this thread that will tell you which batch your order is in, based on the order number. Thank you for your patience!
Any news on when batch #2 will ship?
Any news on when batch #2 will ship?
Batch #2 is in the currently in finishing room getting coats of poly until they have a thick enough coating to cut and buff. Last time this process took longer (and many more coats) than expected, so optimistically they will start going out at the end of next week. Once I ship and load the tracking info into my website, you will receive an email with all the shipping details.
I just wanted to repost this here for those of you who are wondering which batch your order is in. All you need is the order number off your invoice. Thanks again for your patience!
BATCH #1 Order # 1002-1025 (Delivered)
BATCH #2 Order # 1026-1052, Order # 1054 (Currently in finishing room, hoping to ship )
BATCH #3 Order # 1053 - 1098 (Currently being burned, drying or in resin)
Any update on the final batch? :D
It looks like these started shipping. Check your order on the website for the tracking number.

Which one of these is the Denim? I ordered Walnut Denim and its in the third batch. Tho i would like to see how it can look. And since the order form is already closed, i don't have the picture of denim for reference.

Here’s my work setup with this wrist rest. I love the look of it!
Received my wrist rest a couple days ago along with my zend pond spacebar, and had to to take a picture! The wrist rest looks awesome, and I'll likely order another one once you open the orders again.
One small thing that bugs me is I'd like the logo on the back to be centered, but other than that, I love it.

Every time I see one of those Koi Pond Caps I want to cry, so mad I missed out on the GB. At least I'll be able to get one of these bad ass Rests when the next GB happens ;).
Oof looking nice. If i had the money at the time :'(.

Ooh thanks for the information. I will be following this thread :).
Thanks for the feedback! That keyboard looks awesome. I do my best to get the logo centered, but stamping it is a manual process and therefore it's not always perfect. I actually had that stamp made right after the group buy ended, so I am still figuring out a method to get the best results. As with most manual skills, it will likely improve with time. Meanwhile, its a great reminder that your rest is completely handmade by one person from start to finish. Just like your logo, I am also a bit off-center ;)Every time I see one of those Koi Pond Caps I want to cry, so mad I missed out on the GB. At least I'll be able to get one of these bad ass Rests when the next GB happens ;).Oof looking nice. If i had the money at the time :'(.
I will be making more of these soon, but I have to complete the last batch of orders before taking on more commissioned work. Stay tuned to this thread and I will make an announcement when I get close to opening the books again. Thanks for your interest!
UPDATE
The final batch has received the resin inlay and the are now curing. The weather has been insane here in PA the last few weeks. We are at the tail end of a massive heat wave and tons of rainfall. The humidity is off the charts, which is slowing down the flattening process. Although all of my lumber is kiln dried down to a low moisture content, raw wood "breathes" and will accept moisture from the air around it, which causes it to swell and change shape. If you have a wooden door in your house that gets hard to close or jams during the summer months, then you have experienced this phenomena. Because of this high moisture content, the wrist rest blanks are likely to change shape when they dry out. If I flatten them now, while the moisture is high, it is likely that they will warp or twist when they dry out. To avoid this, I will have to wait for the humidity to die down and allow the boards to dry out. In the meantime, I will move on to scraping and sanding the tops of the boards to remove the excess resin and prepare the surface for later. If we continue to see crazy humidity and rain, I will try moving the blanks inside my house to let them dry out. We only have one room with A/C, which makes it tough to lay them all out and still move around, so please bear with me while we wait for nature to stop being so crazy. Hopefully we will get some cooler, drier air soon.
Thought I'd post some pics. Amazing work.Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190727/dab9641c00fc84bb5d9e84ffbeff83ae.jpg)Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190727/8152a49a6b56a0fc387899012ccd2732.jpg)

Hey Nimbus!
Are we almost getting ready to ship the 3rd groups rests? I'm so excited for this :)
Finally seeing that green apple with walnut has me wondering the same thing.
I wish i saw this when GB opened. are there any extras?
Gorgeous rest - I'm almost tempted to pick it up. We have 2 at our house and they're phenomenal - you won't regret nabbing it.I wish i saw this when GB opened. are there any extras?
Please see the above post regarding the 15 3/8" Ebonized Pine/Blue Denim wrist rest that is currently available. These were all made-to-order, so there are no extras. I will be taking more orders in small batches once these are complete, but it will not be a "group buy". There will be an announcement when my books are open again, and it should be quite soon.

Ebonized maple and denim resin 65% in the last photo, 3rd from the left? I ask cause I think that's mine and it looks gorgeous!
Ahhh it's so hard to wait this last little bit since i've seen the almost finished product of my rest.

Hey Nimbus can you post another picture of the Black Cherry and the curly maple samples? They for some reason are not loading for me I'd love to see em though!
Great stuff, can’t wait to get mine!
I am thinking about getting another to match my other board.. have you considered making rests that would fit an Alice?
I have one wrist rest that didn't make the cut on my final inspection. At some point during the finishing process, it warped a bit causing a minor wobble. The wobble is similar to the last one that I posted. You can see a video of that one here: https://photos.google.com/u/1/share/AF1QipMqZyaJl-dO8X1y_Nj61veqKTMBq5SYzy5tVHcfAU3LkM1XeGb54DKLyQcrg-A7UQ/photo/AF1QipPrUKGkcxOyqK25PZO9EQVGz5OpiqDXMOSPXQJ1?key=ZG9kaS1VbE9YZWpCR3JMeGJoOWNKand3X1doU1NB (https://photos.google.com/u/1/share/AF1QipMqZyaJl-dO8X1y_Nj61veqKTMBq5SYzy5tVHcfAU3LkM1XeGb54DKLyQcrg-A7UQ/photo/AF1QipPrUKGkcxOyqK25PZO9EQVGz5OpiqDXMOSPXQJ1?key=ZG9kaS1VbE9YZWpCR3JMeGJoOWNKand3X1doU1NB). This wobble can likely be compensated with a couple layers of masking tape in one corner, or by using the provided bump-ons along the rear edge alone to stop it from rocking. It also has a bit of a swirl pattern on the face that can be seen in the pics below.
