Convince your parents that you need a phone so they should buy it. Then buy an HHKB for yourself :D

Can I get the title 'HHKB Procrastinator'? I think it fits me as i have been saying I would get one from almost the same time as I signed up here. I think I just say it sometimes to make me feel better about my lust for Novelty caps

Get a phone bro. You need that. Once you have a phone you can use it to call places to get a job. Then you make some money and buy your own damn HHKB.

Or the rest of the keyboard is upside down?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The D-Squad gave me an HHKB Pro (Charcoal) for Christmas which completely blew me away and came as a complete shock. I need to write it up, but I haven't really been able to dig deep into the board given the form factor and the the fact that the black-on-black keys make the adjustment a bit daunting.

My work load has been quite heavy so I've only be able to use the board for an hour here and and hour there on Sundays. I love the feel of the board, but I can't say that I've become a complete convert just yet.

So does that quality me as "Pro-curious?"  :p

Amazing gift and amazing board. You just need to dive in, I took mine straight to work and just had no choice but to use it, first day or two was a little frustrating but since then it's been all glory. I found the adjustment to the backspace position really easy and even the arrows adjustment was not that difficult. Took me a little while to get used to the ctrl position especially with many key combination shortcuts (use ctrl a lot in photoshop, in conjunction with other keys).

I don't know that the layout is the issue as much as the black-on-black key caps. Again, I don't look at the keys much, but I do use them for punctuation and numerals and since I keep my office dimly lit, I find that there's too much "friction" in getting used to the board.

I should stop being a wimp and just pony up the $80 to get a set Lettered Keycaps:p

If you know someone going to Japan, or you don't mind proxing using tenso, amazon.co.jp are selling the key caps for just $45. I bought BOTH blanks and printed white-grey thinking that hey, I could buy two sets compare to if I bought from EK.

Ya I know what you mean, I have both blank and my numbers and characters on the numbers are still a bit of a challenge. I love the way the blank board looks but I do find it a little irritating when I just want to press a single key quickly, especially when I am not actually sitting down.

They are a great price there, I should have bought a set of black on blacks when I brought in my type-s, fail.  :(

OK, so I went a bit overboard this week and ended up buying an HHKB Professional 2 Type-S instead.

Jalal had a great price on one that looks brand spanking new with the lettered key caps, so I simply couldn't resist. In came in today and I'm typing on it now.

Having the lettered key caps that I can actually read in my dimly lit office (intentional) has certainly helped a great deal thus far. I'll need to type on it some more to really get a sense of the layout and the silenced switches. I'll try to type on this all day tomorrow and then type on the non-S on Sunday to see how big of a difference it makes.

Overall it's a great keyboard and really feels nice under my fingers. Can't say I'm ready to give up MX just yet, but it may be too soon to tell.

So does this make me a "HHKB ELITE"?

I am curious why you have so many HHKB? I mean... it's not like one is different from the other. Even if you went and own each of them, it would just be 4: white and white type-S, black and black type-S. I can understand if they have various switches or colour or something like the RF.. but 10 HHKBs!? You, sir, are the new HHKB God!

My bad. There is no black type-s. That's why I'm a pagan.

I don't think very many of the recent posts have gotten a title, so you might not be getting one any time soon :P
