The Ace Hotel has been more than gracious in hosting KeyCon for the second year in a row, this time in NYC! More details to come.

There is now a 2 board limit in effect for attendees. Space will definitely be limited, so please respect that to help accommodate your fellow keyboard aficionados.

I think if you went back to 2013 and told people in 2018 we would have 300 people show up to a hotel in Pittsburgh for keycon... you wouldnt believe it.

Last year we had a two board recommendation. All depends on how many tables available and how many signups. Will let you know closer to the date.

Let's talk closer to the date of. I might be traveling outside North America at the time, but if I'm not, we can look at renting a nice luxury car (I can get us a corporate rate discount) and pick up a couple of Montreal folks or something and make a weekend out of it.

It's a 9 hour drive, yeah, but alternatively, I'm glad we don't live on the other side of the world.

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, or what "sessions" might be planned for KeyCon, but would anyone be interested in a live-build of another Invisible Keyboard?

I'd love to see a demo of casting molds from sculpts or artisans from the molds.

And if anyone is wondering, I am planning to do posters again this year. If anyone is excited about a concept or design and wants to collaborate, I'm also open to that. I have a concept, but have been very very busy and am trying to carve out time to execute on it.

The general rule is that people can sell stuff. I've sold stuff in the past and probably will this year too. It's not the main focus, but if you're looking to buy or sell, it doesn't hurt to come prepared.

Have you tried consulting with Jacobsmirror so that he can provide a list of artists who may be attending and whom you could contact for a formal request on a collaboration? I think that could help. Or even just to bounce ideas! I'm sure among the attendees there may be people vested in prints and promo work of this kind. The organizer could perhaps send a PSA asking for volunteers.

Serious question, is there a physical limit to boards you can bring? I'm only bringing 40% boards but I'll have like 6, is that too many?

Hey, great question. In general, we're currently sitting at 345 attendees, so table space is definitely going to be limited. I'd say bring your best 2 or 3. I think it's safe to say that's going to be the official guideline for the event.

Hey all! First off, sorry to say that the RSVP form for the event is closed. We currently have 430+ attendees which is already slightly over the max capacity for the venue. We knew it was going to be a big event, but this is exceeding our expectations (more than twice as big as last year).

Considering the number of people coming out, we do officially need to enforce a two board limit. Space will definitely be limited, so please respect that to help accommodate your fellow keyboard aficionados.

Looking forward to seeing you all and rolling out some teasers as the date approaches.

I mean it was in the very first post from the very start you only had to read it to see that there was an RSVP and you were asked to complete it.

Sorry you missed it. It has been pinned in the discord channel, on this thread, and on the reddit post from the beginning. I had originally not anticipated the attendance to be 2.5 times last year, but such as it is, had to make a cutoff somewhere.

Indeed, it's my bad for not seeing the link, but if it was as important as the rest of the post I would have preferred it to be big and bold as well rather than tucked away below location/date/time/description/discount code right next to an optional Discord link. As currently formatted I had missed it, and no one else had discussed it either.

A warning would have been nice too as max capacity was being reached rather than being told after the fact.

I recently got diagnosed with cancer and I haven't been able to go around and look at conventions in my area due to being in and out of the hospital. I live right next to NYC (20 minutes). Is there anyway to be able to come to KeyCon or is it guaranteed that I won't be able to make it in?

Morning,

A few updates. Just launched the website for the event: keycon.info

You'll be able to find info on the schedule of events, giveaway rules, our (ever increasing) sponsor list, and some helpful information about the location and arrival.

I was also able to have a conversation with the venue and unfortunately we're still definitely at max capacity and will not be able to accommodate anyone from the waitlist. If anyone has signed up and is not attending, but wants to offer up their spot, that's still an option.

Would it be weird if we started a "for sale/trade" thread in this subforum and people could list the stuff they have? That way, people could make some arrangements and complete the sale/trade in person next week.

I know I have some stuff, but with the limited space I wouldn't want to put any of it out.

I haven't, but based on the number we have, we're still going to be tight. I'm working off of turnout rates from previous meetups as a basis for that.
