7bit,

Sorry if it's too late in the game for suggestions, but would anyone be interested in some media keys?  Since the filco, leopold, ducky and many other keyboards don't have dedicated media keys, I've been remapping keys like print, scroll lock, pause and some of the function keys via software to be media keys for volume up, down, mute, play/pause, previous, and next.  Anybody interested in having a small little set of those 6 keys? adding it to an existing set? Just throwing it out there. Thanks again 7bit.

Edit:
All could be top row, and of the darker/almost black   shade of gray

Deadline for Round Three is 31 December or maybe a week later. I 'm not sure right now where to put these keys, but they are doable.

POS or Function kit:

VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, MUTE, NEXT TRACK, PREVIOUS TRACK, PLAY,

or just plain:

UP, DOWN, MUTE, NEXT, PREV, PLAY ?

What about RECORD, EJECT, FAST FORWARD, FAST BACKWARD,
NOISE, MONITOR, MONO, STEREO, QUADRO, PHONO, TAPE, ... ?

ps: PAUSE already exists in Standard layout.

Merry Christmas!

@ 7bit

You really are doing a fantastic job but there are a couple of things that could be clearer:
  • Is the sticky thread taking orders and if so do payments follow?
  • What's the minimum number of smaller sets (modifier, POS, etc.) that we must reach for an order to be viable?
The first question because I'm a bit hazy on what's supposed to be happening and when. The second question because some parts of my order rely on other parts being available i.e. how much do I want the standard set if I can't get the UK set?  I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's in that situation.

Keep up the good work but take a break for Christmas though please!

No, I don't take orders right now, but I will send everybody a message containg what they voted for and if they want actually to order it. Prices will be re-calculated according to what everybody orders and also what a kit contains. I left room for additional caps in most of these kits.

Some kits I want for myself. I will take as many sets necessary to fulfill the price stated here. (mainly POS, Function, Modifier, etc.). For those kist which do not reach 25 sets, I will ask everybody if the want to pay that much SP wants for such a small number, or not.

UK kit will happen! maybe at a higher price if there are not enough for 25 sets. Same for the Nordic kit. These others, I'm afraid will be quite costly.

If you want a kit, vote for it. The more want it the cheaper it will get!

Merry Christmas!!!

edit: some typos corrected, which where caused by lack of time!

Are these standard symbols a possibility? Does SP already have them ready?

Top row in picture, 1st possibility
1. Rewind, (that can also act as previous track, or rewind when held)
2. Play, (can be used via software to act as play/pause)
3. Fast Forward, (that can also act as next track, or ff when held)
4. Mute
5. Volume Down (this one features two sound waves)
6. Volume Up

Middle, Eject Icon

bottom row in picture, 2nd possibility (These look just like the media keys you'll find on macbooks)
I suggest these if going with symbols, as they look the simplest and easy to make.

Botton row in picture 2nd possibility
1. Rewind, (that can also act as previous track, or rewind when held)
2. Play/Pause, (can be used via software to act as play/pause)(I prefer just the play icon as top row)
3. Fast Forward, (that can also act as next track, or ff when held)
4. Mute (Just speaker cone w/ no sound waves)
5. Volume Down (this one features one sound wave)
6. Volume Up

I did not include keys such as record, eject, fast backward, noise, monitor, mono, stereo, quadro, phono, or tape, as those are keys that most consumers don't use on a regular basis.  If one wanted fancy keys like that, it'd prob be best to set up a seperate SP order or buy a new KB for things like ProTools, Logic, etc.  I don't particularly care for eject, as disc's are not used as often anymore.

But the average person probably uses those media keys to control music playback from iTunes or any other media player.

If symbols are not an option, then I would think characters could look like...

Fast Forward looks a little much typed out on a single key, so I think an abbreviation looks best, and to keep things symmetrical, Rewind abbreviated to REW.

Edit: of course, these would be of top row key profile, and in the darker shade gray/black w/ white font, I would imagine putting them in place of function keys on the keyboard. For those using OSX, keys like Print, Num Lock, and Pause are remapped to F13-F15, that's where I currently place volume keys in OSX.

I will ask them about thes symbols.

Those buttons like Mono,Quadro or Noise where meant as a joke.

I can dig out more of that old stuff if you like!

MATRIX, Q-SOUND, DUPLO, ...

But don't aks me what these button do, ...

I will post a pic of that 1970ies Qudrophony thing receiver/amplifier.

it's looking pretty bad for my mac-only modifier keys (in the modifier kit) in the vote thread. could we just include the 2x OPTION and 2x COMMAND (and hopefully 1x blank 1 1/4") in the standard set? i don't think i can justify the price of a reduced-quantity modifier kit, and since proper mac modifier keys are the only reason i would order, that would probably lead me to not order any key sets at all...

I don't want to add too many keys to the Standard set. I need some of these keys from the Modifier kit for myself, so I will take more to make sure that this price ($18/set) will be possible.

7bit, I've been out of touch for a while due to the holidays, but if you want, I can hack up a quick python script that can parse them, and then upload/format/post/whatever, if you like.

I already have a bunch of python scripts that I use to generate my own teaching web pages, so it's pretty straightforward to do. Just let me know.
HHKB Pro 2 -- Custom UNIX layout Unicomp Customizer 101 -- IBM Model M 1391401 (modded to UNIX layout) -- IBM 1397000 (also UNIX layout) -- SSK in UNIX layout -- Model F 122 key in UNIX layout (Soarer USB "native")

Thanks for offering help!

If you've got something which auto-edits a post at this website, I would much appreciate that. Anything else had been done in Perl already.

The only help I really need is: People who voted for all those kits in this and the other thread, to vote/order those in the new thread.

Are you folks all on holly-day, or did the lose interest?

So, I don't have anything that edits on this forum, but what you could do instead is just post a link in the results post, and keep that page up to date.

And yeah, I'm betting lots of people are spending family time. Don't forget, lately the majority of users are teens, I think, and sort of have to go along with family plans.

The only kits which would not happen right now are FR, NL and Dvorak.

How many sets do you require so it can "happen" ?

I voted for a FR set today, and could probably use some more...

This thread seems the older one of that one anyway.

And to answer you question: 10 for dvorak (5 current votes according to recent stats email) Not sure if this would be made, if it is/willing to pay then it will probably be much more expensive than the listed price in the first page.

There seems to be only 1 vote for FR so I am not sure if that would be made as UK kit needed 15 for example to be cost effective.

So, "dude", I did post in this thread because, you know, it's the preparation for the other one, and the set I'm interested in didn't make the cut.

Regarding the cast-away sets, it might indeed be more expensive, and I'd be willing to cough what's needed... to some extent, obviously.
I'm discussing this with 7bit.

You'd have MUCH better luck asking in Classifieds or in the Round 5/6 thread over on DT. Just FYI.

Well I didn't know that, actually (thanks).  That was before my time.  But with 7bit and crew mainly posting at DT I figured the current Round X thread would be the best possibility of running into someone with Round 3 extras.  Don't you think?

It would hurt when looking for something like this to ask just about anywhere I suppose. :D

I mean who knows with 7Bit he might still have some or might just order more
